Cathe-cross train xpress?

I want to do the 6 day split from cross train xpress. If you do them in order from dvd they are back, tricep, shoulder ,chest, legs, biceps. If you do from upper body split it is back, chest, shoulder, triceps, and biceps.
And in the old 2007 Cathe catalog the format has it in order of chest, bicep, tricep, shoulder, back and legs.

My question is- does it matter which order I do them in?

IIRC, the back and legs workouts both have quite a lot of leg work in, so I wouldn't do them back-to-back.

Also, I'd suggest trying to alternate between step and non-step workouts as much as you can (or at least avoiding high-impact step workouts two days in a row: make one low impact).

IMO, neither of the orders you listed is the best. A good order (in terms of the wt workouts, I don't recall what cardio goes with what) is:

back
off
chest
legs
shoulder
biceps
triceps
off

This splits the chest/shoulder/triceps workouts so they are not done on consecutive days (triceps are worked during shoulder and chest workouts, shoulders are worked during chest), and also separates the two leg workouts (the back workout and the legs workout), and separates back and shoulders (shoulders are also workied when working back).

In order to get the same type of cardio to not fall back-to-back, you may have to change which cardio goes with which weight workout.

HTH!

ETA: OOPS! I thought I was in OD and not "ask Cathe".

Kathryn Thanks for the reply. I decided later Cathe probably wouldn't have time to respond.

I have been off weights for a while. Just can't seem to get ambition in the summer. I will probably only do some of the step and all of the lifting. I was glad to find something short that would at least be something.

I started off yesterday with back and really got my shoulder to hurting. I'm glad you said to take today off.

I new there should be a best order but I was not experienced enough to recognize.

Thanks again,

Joan

I just did All Step from the CTX series this morning for the first time in over a year! OMG, what fun! I hope you enjoy it. Joan! :)
