I do not know what weights to use when doing some workouts.
Like on:
Push and Pulls:
SuperSets.
The Gauntlet:
The Viper
I don't know if you modify the weights used because of up-comming exercises in the workouts??
Sometimes it looks like you are using heavier than you say, because the barbell weighs something besides the weights.
Please help is there a way to find out the weights you are using when you have not told what you are using??
Need you as aguide etc.:p

Not Cathe, but Cathe's weight selection should be used as a very general guide, not necessarily what you should be lifting. Even if you were to normally lift what Cathe recommends on a given workout, this could change depending upon circumstances (i.e. not feeling quite up to par so you use a lesser weight or gained some extra strength so it is time to increase the weight). With that said, everyone's strength level, as well as desired strength gains are different. As Cathe has said in some of her videos, you will have to go through doing the workouts a few times (taking a few extra minutes in between sets) to determine the weight. As you get more comfortable with the weights, you will be able to lift more (if you want), as well as know about what you should be lifting (and yes, this will change). Take care and good luck:)

Usually when Cathe says she's using a 40 pound barbell, she means the plates and the bar included. The very first time I did a Cathe weight workout, I decided to use half the weight she stated for every exercise and took note of what weight was too light or heavy (for me)for that particular exercise. After that, I adjusted my weight selection accordingly. I find that for most upper body exercises, Cathe has greater strength than I do, but for the most part, I can match her weight selection for lower body exercises. Figure out what challenges you and modify for safety and good form. HTH

Thank you everyone for your input, I just get frustrated having to start and stop the workout trying to decide how heavy to go, then to find it's to light or to heavy, only to keep changing.
I am able to lift whatever Cathe is lifting.
But sometimes I read the plates she is holding and still don't know for sure.
The barbell only weighs 5 pounds I believe.
But sometimes I hear her say she is going to lighten the weight 10, 20, lbs. And I do not know how heavy she was lifting to begin with, perhaps the more tapes I do I will know, especially with all the mixes that some videos are.etc.
I used to get frutrated with the Firm also when I did not know what to use. Oh Well. I hope on the new ones she will also include how long each DVD is and equipment used on outside of the case.
Thankx again.
Rocky
