Cathe Beginner/Intermediate Check-In?

Is there anyone that is a beginner/Intermediate to Cathe would like to start a check-in with me starting on this Sunday?

Hello Kimberly,
I would love to!!! I am somewhat disappointed to see no other responses to your post. Are you doing a certain rotation? Do you plan to follow a certain eating plan? Would love to hear in more detail what is involved in a check in. Have a great day.

:) I would like to become a part of the Cathe Beginner/Intermediate Check-In. I have been doing Cathe videos and DVDs for a year and love them. I am 40 pounds? overweight and need motivation to stay on course. I am an emotional eater (happy, sad, mad). I feel superfit when doing Cathe videos and would like my body to look like it. With 40 pounds off my body I will be able to jump higher. I am 34 yrs. old, married, and three boys. This weekend my beautiful sister is taking me to weightwatchers with her...UGgh!!! I try to follow Weigh Down Principles which is a faith based weight management system. It basically teaches that if I am not hungry to shut my mouth. I truly believe God wants me to tackle this idol called overeating, because it takes up so much of my mind's space. Let me know how this Check-In will proceed :D .

Finally, some beginners on this board! I am new to Cathe's workouts and haven't gone any further than basic step. I just bought the new low impact step, but I feel I should've gotten low max instead. I'm not doing cathe exclusively, because I don't have many of her vids, but I do plan to incorporate her stuff in my routine. I would love to do a check in.

I'd love to participate in a beginner check-in. I have The Classics, Basic Step & Body Fusion, Low Impact Step & Low Max. I have only done Step Heat of the Classics and the others. It'll be a long time b4 I master Low Max. I do the FIRM workouts but will continue to acquire Cathe's DVDs instead of buying more FIRMs

Hello -

Count me in! I just started posting here -- and yes I would feel much more comfortable posting in a forum with other beginners.

I am 36 and have two kids. I need motiviation to work out!! Checking in with you will help!

I have some firm videos as well -- earlier this week I did Body Sculpt. I started out with too much weight and so I'm recovering! :)

I found Cathe on FitTV -- which is great for me since the workouts aren't as long as her DVDs. I have bought a few of Cathe's tapes and plan to buy more as I get stronger.

Let's keep each other motiviated to stay healthy!!

Thanks for starting this thread Kimberly!

Michelle

I should have mentioned that I just turned 40 and I have two children. A DD(15) and a DS(10).

I am also a lifetime Weight Watcher member.

Michelle- I did BS this week too. I broke it up and did the upper body portion on Wed followed by Step Heat and then I did the lower portion yesterday again followed by Step Heat. I hadn't done BS in awhile as I prefer the cardio/sculpt workouts and had forgotten how hard it is.

May I join you? I am about to turn 41 and have just started using Cathe videos. I've lost about 25 punds with WW and the Firm abd have another 25 to go. I started with Kick Punch & Crunch and absolutely love it. I just bought six new videos and thus far have tried Boot Camp, which I also like. I'm going to try out Muscle Endurance and Low Max this weekend. It's great to talk to some other beginners!

Jenny

Debbie

Body Sculpt is my favorite Firm video -- I know that Fanny Lifter is working - because my "fanny" is REALLY sore today!!

I also love Cathe's PUB and PLB (are those the right initials?)

So how many days a week are you gals planning to/ or already do work out? I'm going to try to do 3-4 days a week next week and see how I feel.

Since we are starting Sunday -- I also plan to throw out all of this Halloween candy this weekend!

Take care ladies and I'll talk to you all soon!!

Michelle

Jenny,
What six videos did you get? Is Boot Camp similar to the Firm cardio/sculpts workouts? I am trying to decide which circuit workouts of Cathe's I want to get but I want to make sure that they are at least as challenging as the Firm without being to hard.

I got the Boot Camp & Muscle Endurance dvd, Low Max, the two upper body Gym Styles DVD, and the two Pryamids workouts from the VHS sale. Boot Camp is a cardio sculpt video but much harder that the Firm ones I've tried (I have the Transfirmer). Have you checked out the video clip? Let me know and I would be happy to tell you more about it.

This might be were I need to join. I am about 75 pounds over weight. I have the firm videos, stretch max and low max. (I preordered all her new vids) I can do 3 intervals in Low max so far. I usually have to stop after that. I can get through my firm videos breathing rather hard but making it. I use 5 pound weights. I have tried Weigh Down and never lost a pound. I am now looking into many different options on what to do. I don't like diets...looking for a way of eating. Look forward to getting to know you all:)

Hi everyone,

I am soooo glad too see a good response to the Cathe Beginner/Intermediate Check-In. For weeks I thought that this would be a great check-in. With Cathe producing more beginner/intermediate workouts there would be a place were the beginners/intermediate can fit in. I actually started doing the Cathe Beginner/Intermediate Rotation which is in Cathe's Index of rotations. To look at this rotation go to Video/DVD Rotations, click on Index for Cathe Rotations - 2 then click on June '04 Double Header Beg/Inter & Adv New Series. I asked Cathe about 3 weeks ago if she would do a Beginner/Intermediate Rotation along with the Advanced Rotation but I have not heard anything. I trying to see how I would add Low Impact Step and Body Scultping into a rotation.

I am 40 and about 60 pounds overweight. I started using Firm Videos for years until someone talked about Cathe and gave me one of her videos (All Step) to see if I would like it. I hated step aerobics but I did like it but it was too fast for me. But that was the only one I had at that time and I would only try to do about 10 minutes of it. ( I still can't master that workout) Even though I have Basic Step I am about 7 minutes away from mastering it. Right know I have more weight exercises than cardio but that is because I really didn't like cardio.

Belinda, I am following a little bit of WW, clean eating, preparing my own meals and most important I am going to start journaling what I have eaten. Let me know which plan you are doing (Core or Flex). I still have some of my materials when I joined. I am going to look at them again.

Jenny, I'm going to order Kick, Punch & Crunch if it is not sold out. How is Bootcamp?

Jari, when I started doing Basic Step I had to break it up by doing the warmup and combo #1 or the warm up and Combo #2 and the same for Low Impact Step and the High Step Circuit. Eventually I will be able to do cardio all the way through without stopping.

Debbie, I like Fit TV because it lets me preview all the workouts that I had on my list. After I saw them on Fit TV some of them I changed my mind and some I am going to order.

Michelle, BooBoo39 & everyone, right now I exercise 5 to 6 days per week. This week while starting the Beginner/Intermediate rotation my body was in a muscle shock so I took Friday (today) as a rest day. I was shooting for 6 days a week but I guess I will have to settle with 5 days and for me that is good. I like to exercise in the morning before I go to work.

We all have something in common and we can give support to each other and keep each other motivated and inspired. The thread will be a beginner/intermediate thread with the dated week in it. Let me know what you think.

:7 What would a good Beg/Int rotation look like? I have the following Cathe vidoes/DVDs: All Step and the soon to arrive Power Training from the early Cross Training Circuit series. Step Blast, Step, Jump, Punch; Kick Punch Crunch, soon to arrive. And finally Rhythmic Step and the new Low Impact which included the Total Body Sculpt on the ball. My goal is to lose 40 pounds and jump as high as Cathe.

Belinda

;-) What did you find difficult on the weigh down? I have tried to incorporate it for five years. I started weigh down at my heaviest of 230. I helped me lose 45 pounds and not gained it back. I have not gone further and need to get off 40 pounds. I am debating going back to weight watchers but I really do not want to go through the expense to be motivated. I intend to use this forum for my motivation. I love Jesus Christ and part of the change I know He wants in my character is to stop the binging. It takes time away from fellowshiping with Him and being a blessing to others. Keep in touch.

:( The first Cathe video I got was 18 months ago. I got the traditional step and it had the All Step from the CXT series. I found it difficult. I am very coordinated when it comes to dancing. I am also rather fit considering the weight I need to lose. I have cried trying to learn the All Step and the Rhythmic Step. Truly cried... in my bike shorts and on the step crying because I had to keep rewinding and rewinding. I use to call her the evil one. I want to do WW.

Belinda

i you all don't mind me jumping in to respond to this one real quick.

belinda my dear don't be upset. all step was the first cathe i did to and i was ticked off that i couldn't do it. it took me over a year to learn rhythmic step as well, even though i could do imax2 and low max. they are difficult choreography wise so don't beat yourself up.

and someone wanted to know how to fit in low impact step in the rotation cathe posted on the dvd rotation forum. you can use the low impact step only in place of some basic step days and use the cario weights premix for the body fusion or high step circuit days. and the days she has upper/lower/abs add one you can do the total body sculpting workout. its pretty much the same idea but exercises are arranged differently. i hope that helps you out some.

glad to see you all getting together i am sure this will help cathe get ideas to make some more beginner/intermediate workouts. i am fairly advanced and i would like to have her low impact step workout as well. everybody needs a good mix for lighter days as well. good luck gals.

Kassie,

Thanks for the information about how to use Low Impact Step, Total Body Sculpting and the premix in this rotation. I must have missed her posting that one. I am going to write it out on paper and see what I come up with.

:p I started WW today instead of tomorrow. I am flexing. for now I am working with 24 points a day. I would like to lose two pounds a week. What type of rotation would work? I think because many of us are beginners variety is limited to maybe six tapes/DVDs max. How will the check-in take form? I have a lot of questions...
