To Include on new DVD's etc. (On back of case:)
Include what equipment needed how Heavy and how long the workout iz.
Also Height of Step used.
And do you usually prefer to workout on six (6)inch step rather than an eight(8)? What about an 10 incher?
I know that you have done both 6&8.
Does the Step height have to do with your Height?
I am 5"4.5.
Thank you Thank you very much.

Not Cathe, but she mixes up 6 and 8 inch ( 1 or 2 risers respectively), but does not use 10 inch. It is unsafe. I guess the level of the step height depends upon your level of fitness, type of step, how familiar your are with Cathe's step, and whether or not you want to add an extra set of risers to make 8 inch. Personally, I find it too rough on my knees, so I stick with a 6 inch step with bigger arm movements. I find myself still challenged with many years of step under my belt. Some people do not use any risers, while others use step alternatives (mat or floor) instead of the step. HTH (for some of the questions any way):)

Hi Fitnessangel,
I used to use my 10 inch step fom the firm.
I finally have my Gym step and am Loving it.:*
I usually use the eight inch step.
But notice Cathe using the six inch.
I must say six is more enjoyable.
The eigth can be more of a challange.
And is harder with some moves etc.
My knees are okay.
I just wonder if doing workouts on 8 is that much of a difference than using six. And or if I am only hurting myself causing problems in the future?
Striving for the best I can be.

Hi All,

I don't know if your height has a lot to do with the height of the bench. I am 5'10, and have been doing Cathe's step tapes since 1993, and for the past 9 years I've only used a 10 inch bench height. I cannot get a good workout on an 8 inch. Even when I'm flat out tired, I tried to use the 8 inch with all out power, and still had to bump it up to 10 with all power because it just didn't feel challenging.
Go figure..

Hi,

On the blog the pictures of the premixes I believe Cathe has a section that shows the weight and equipment used for the workout in this series. But it doesn't say the step height. Also I think it has the breakdowns of the premixes and the regular workouts are supposed to be around 1 hour each.

I am 5' 8" and I find myself enjoying the 6 inch (one pair of risers) still. I believe you can get a solid, effective workout using this height. I also change up my step program, mix up my aerobics (floor, step, kickbox, eliptical, etc.), as well as mix up the impact (high vs low and mixed). I also incorporate strength training and stretching in my program. Cathe uses an 8 inch in many of her videos, and that is great. I don't know the long term effects and causes to knee or other lower body injury resulting from step(Cathe has been teaching for a long time and has had only a couple of problems not related to teaching- as far as I know), but I do know that my knees don't like me to workout with an 8 inch more than 1 day a week. I just choose to use a 6 inch all of the time and make my movements bigger (ex. bigger jumps, higher "energy", bigger arm movements, etc.). I think you should do what works for your body. If you like an 8 inch- great, but if you find it bothering you or think you can still get a great workout on a 6 then that is your choice as well. We all have to listen to our body and focus on what works (or doesn't) for us:) This applies to all aspects of our fitness regimine:)

I find that at 8", I'm more distracted with making sure I have proper alignment, so I short change my range of motion with the moves
(I'm 5'4". At a 6" step height, I can make the most of a step workout and actually get a better workout.
