Cathe, a quick PS question...

Hi Cathe! I had a quick question regarding your upper body PS CST and BBA tapes. I want to do both of these tapes in one day and was wondering if it would be okay to do them one tape after the other, or do the exercises in the order you have presented in your total upper body workouts, ie. chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps. I dont have a DVD so with VHS this would involve switching tapes after every body part which I'm more than willing to do if the exercises are more beneficial in that order. Thanks!! Can't wait for your new tapes!! I hope when your little boys "grow up" they'll fully realize how cool their mommy is!!

I'm not Cathe but sometimes I do my PS upper body tapes together. I have VHS and it is a hassle to switch tapes back and forth but I do chest first, then back, bis, tris and shoulders. It takes a little over an hour but I love the powerful feeling I have when I'm done. I have done the Legs tape with the upper body too. That takes another hour so I don't do that often.

What weight does Cathe use for the T-Bar rows? Just as a guage? Also for the Squats and lunges?

I think she uses 20 lbs for the warmup and 40 for the three sets of T-bar rows. And for the squats she appears to be using 45 lbs, 15 dumbells for the lunges. Of course, it's hard to tell for sure.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-05-02 AT 09:57PM (Est)[p]My firm barbell seems kind of short for the T-bar rows! It kept sliding lower and lower and I could only pull the bar back to my sides barely. Tried using a towel to pull back with it but the heavy barbell was still tough to keep in place.

Try doing them with the wall close to your back. Let the bar rest on the baseboard so it won't slide. I hope this makes sense.

I use dumbbells for that move. I'll use my 15's or 20's depending on how strong I'm feeling that day. I've tried Tbar rows with my barbell but I like the feeling better with my dumbbells.

Hi!

Can anyone describe the motion you use when doing the Tbar rows with dumbbells? I feel awkward doing them with the barbell also.

Thanks for any input!

Denise

To use dumbbells, the name of the exercise changes to "heavypants." :) I learned this from another video. You bend over just like with tbar rows, with a dumbbell in each hand hanging by your knees. You raise the arms up and back along your sides just as if you're pulling up a really heavy pair of pants. If you keep that image in mind, your arms will follow the right path, and you'll feel in in your back as you should.

Hello,
I tried this modification and it worked much better! Thanks! Just getting to know this series so it's taking awhile to figure out weights and how to fit it in. But it's pretty impressive so far!

HI R_Lam--

You mentioned you use the Firm Barbell. That is what I am using also. I am curious , have you purchased any additional weight plates yet for it? If so, where do you get them? I would love to keep on using this, rather than buy another whole barbell. Has it worked out okay for you for Cathe's workouts?? I have only 2--MIS and a Cardio one. But hope to build up my collection as I love them and Cathe's my new 'favorite".

Any input would be great!! Thanx.

Linda :)

Hi R_Lam,

I forgot to ask which of Cathe's tapes do you have and are your favorites? Or anyone else with input I'd appreciate!!

Linda :)

I don't have the Firm barbell, but as I understand it, Firm barbell is 1" diameter (standard size). You can get additional weight plates at your local sporting goods store or walmart. Just make sure you ask for a 1" diameter or standard size (not Olympic which is 2").
