Cathe, a question about CrossTrain Xpress

dmd

Cathlete
Hi there,
I just purchased Crosstrain Xpress on dvd ( had it on vhs and have no machine...). I am trying very hard to get back into shape and thought this would be a great place to start.

My question: Is there a best order in which to use the workouts, or do I simply do them in the order they are presented on the dvd?

Thanks,

Deb:)

Hi Deb:

Obviously, I'm not Cathe ;-) but, I usually do it as it is presented. I would take your rest day between Leaner Legs and Power Circuit, those are tough ones and your legs might need the rest.

Good luck on your journey!
Marcia.

Hi there,
Thanks Marcia for the input. It has been so long since I have done this
series that I had forgotten how best to approach it. deb;-)

The most logical order to do the workouts is by body part: do larger muscles first, then smaller, and don't do back/chest/shoulders all on consecutive days, to give the shoulders a break (they are worked in all three workouts to some extent).

Day 1: Back
Day 2: Chest
Day 3: Leaner Legs
Day 4: Shoulders
Day 5: Biceps
Day 6: Triceps (triceps assist during shoulder work, so should be separated from shoulders by a day or so for best results)
Day 7: Rest day

I don't recall off-hand what cardio goes with what, but I know this puts two step workouts back-to-back in some cases, so you might want to consider taking some of the step workouts to low impact, to avoid 'impact step' on consecutive days. YMMV, but I find that combo quite hard on the knees.

Hi Kathryn,
Thanks for posting about this. Okay, what does YMMV mean? Sorry, I'm a bit dim today. The muscle group idea makes allot of sense, thanks allot!

Yes, it's much faster than typing "everyone is different, and you might not get the same results as someone else.";-)
