Cathlete
I just wanted to thank you. Your post yesterday made me get off my butt & get my bloodwork done today so I can go back on the synthroid.

Also I want to apologize for going off on a rant about my insurance company & not even acknowledging your difficult time & your courage. I try really hard to recognize my egocentrism & not make things all about me, but I really slipped up here. You're truly amazing to have had leaped such high hurdles & yet still put the energy & effort into staying fit.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know you were an inspiration for me. Thanks again..........:)

Laura,

I'm so glad to hear that you went to get your bloodwork done. I know it is such a pain to have it done. I still have to get mine checked every 4 months not only to make sure my levels are in line but to also to check for any traces of cancer cells. Pain in the neck for sure!
I hope I didn't sound like I was preaching to you either. I just remember how completely horrible I felt after being sooo hypothyroid
I just didn;t want you to go through the same thing.

Hope to meet you on the Road Trip. I saw some of your posts stating you are on the waiting list but will still be there on Thurs and Friday to see old friends. Hopefully there will be some cancellations and you will be able to attend:)

Take Care,
Carolyn

LauraMax,

I am also Hypothyroid and my doctor has me on Armour Thyroid. It is a natural alternative to Synthroid, it's actually made from pig hormones. I have had much better results with it than the Synthroid. Ask your doctor about it, it couldn't hurt:)

I will, thanks Nicole. Do I need a scrip for it? My dr. is about 103 years old, I don't think he keeps up w/the latest in meds. ;-) If it's natural maybe I can get it at GNC or something?

LauraMax,

Sorry for the late reply. Nope, you will need a prescription for it:( It's just an alternative to the synthetic Synthroid. It is a hormone derived from pig hormones. Just tell him you want a prescription for it and he should write it up for you.

OK I just had to dig this up for an update. I got my numbers back from the bloodwork & they were totally out of whack! Thyroid is definitely completely messed up. Here I was wondering why I couldn't lose an ounce of the 10 lbs I'd gained over the last 6 weeks or so, regardless of an even more rigorous exercise routine than usual & some serious dieting. Usually I can lose 5 lbs in a week when I try hard enough but the scale hasn't budged. So I'm back on my meds. Thanks again Carolyn. :)

And the doc gave me drops for my eyes--definitely allergies b/c the swelling started to go down almost immediately. I feel so much better! Almost human again. I won't blow off the dr. anymore, even tho I had to sit in his waiting room for 2 hours today. x(
