Carole, about freestyle training I have a question

Carole, just out of curiousity, how long does it take to see results once you start freestyling with your lower body workouts?

thanks

Annette....I noticed firming in about 3-4 weeks. I felt my legs stronger in my running in about 4 weeks. I just love working my legs everyday and not having them bulk...:)...Carole

Ok, Carole, one more question..... Is freestyling considering basically endurance training just done everyday? By the way, I really don't like endurance tapes so I like the idea of doing the strength workouts and just using lighter weight,LOL!!:+ :D

Thanks again.:)

Hi Carole. Yet another question for you. When you say lunges I'm assuming you actually go forward into the lunge and then stand back up, correct? You're not talking about static lunges like Cathe does, right?

I find this thread fascinating b/c my legs and butt are my worst feature and I've been considering going to heavy (ie 70#ish) lifting. But you all have me re-thinking that and giving this a try. Thanks for the information.

Lorrie

Carole: thanks a bunch. I ordered the book last night. I hope I get it soon. I didn't realize that your ran as well. Well, I guess I just forgot about that since i've seen you posts lots! Anyway, I'm so glad to hear that you feel stronger in your running as I LOVE to run as well. yippee!!

take care:)

Annette...I feel freestyle is even lighter weights than most endurance workouts. When I use these endurance workouts I do go lighter than I did before. So if you don't like the endurance workouts then do the strength ones you like and go 70% of the amount you used on legs before or maybe even lighter as if you are doing legwork everyday you do not want to lift heavy at all. I think for some women the concept of heavy lifting had worked for them to define and cut the muscles but for us pear shapes that does not always work. This is from the book: The 3 Key Priniciples that make Freestyle training different from Conventional Training:

High frequency
Lower Body Emphasis
Compound movements

Hope this helps a bit...you can email me too as I don't mind...:)...carole

Sorry to butt in as well but I have a question for Carole also -

Can you use Cathe leg workouts six days a week and go light on the weights? L&G, PLB, HSTA lower body only, BC lowerbody only, ME lower body only and do those shorter ones 2 or 3X through??

I am thinking of trying this and doing 45-60mins of legs everymorning and working my arms and cardio at night. I know it will be alot at first, but don't have much going on in July and I have a vacation coming up at the end of the month, so these legs need to be bikini ready!!! :)

I would email you but not sure how - :)

To email me, just click on the first little envelope icon in the right hand corner of my message...:)...I just answered your other post....:)...reading what you have in mind sounds good. Put a few days between L&G and PLB as they have floorwork and it might be a better balance....:)...Carole

Hey Carole! You've sure inspired a lot of interest in free style training. That's probably cause you look great.:)

Do you lift heavy for upper body or are you doing free style for that too?

Thanks Elaine!...I didn't start this though, it was awhile back. I searched and read the other Freestyle posts from Francine, Beverly and Rhonda. Beverly and Rhonda had great results and truly inspired me!

I've done alot of different things for my upper body. I am currently doing one part Freestyle (triceps) for three weeks. Then do Shoulders & Biceps a bit heavier 3 times a week and Chest & Back a bit heavier also but 2 times a week..After these three weeks I'll move to Freestyle Biceps. It is great because I can use all of my Cathe workouts now...:)...Carole

Lorrie...it is amazing how many variations of lunges that there are...in Freestyle static lunges are not really covered. The forward is just like you said. There are also reverse, side to side and crossover ones (like in L&G if you have it). I also change up by doing front lunges landing on a 6 inch bench, and starting reverse lunges on the bench and going back with the leg. These are the compound exercises most talked about in the freestyle way of working out. You really never know until you try....:)..Carole
