Carola's salad dressing

Carola-

I have to give you your own thread/post for this! LOL I made the salad dressing that you posted/shared in another post and let me tell you.....IT'S AWESOME!!!!! OMG! I've been eating my salads with just plain ol' balsamic vinegar because I don't want any of those bottled ones with HFCS, and I couldn't ever get the combo of oil to vinegar correct. Well, I went to the grocery store and bought me some really good (and expensive) EVOO and Agave Nectar tonight. WOW. I've never tried the nectar and it's awesome all on its own! Then I made the dressing (half of the original since I wasn't sure I'd like it).

WOW!

Here's the recipe for anybody that would like it (it may seem simple to most of you, but to me, it's like a little bit of magic in my fridge now!)! :)

1 C balsamic vinegar
1.5 C EVOO
3-6 garlic cloves, minced
1 T agave nectar or maple syrup
salt and pepper to taste

YUMMO!!!!! I'm in salad heaven once again!

Thanks, Carola, for sharing this recipe!!!

LOL, thanks Gayle!!! The dressing is the reason why DH married me :D

I don't need anything else, just the dressing with a salad and I am happy!!! I put it on any kind of salad or try mozarella caprese

4-5 slices of fresh mozarella (the one that's soaked in water)
2 tomatoes sliced
5 basil leaves
balsamic dressing
salt, pepper to taste

put one slice of tomato and a basil leave on top of a slice of mozarella, salt, pepper and dressing - oh soooooo good!!! Add a slice of whole wheat bread or ezekiel bread for a great lunch.

I am glad you like the dressing, Gayle! It's funny how the simple things usually taste the best.

OMG!!!!! Fresh Mozzarella! Right here in my very own home town....we have a family who has owned a cheese store for 3 generations and they make their own mozzarella, ricotta (the BEST), etc! It stinks to high heaven when you walk in there, but one taste and you forget all about that stinky smell!

THANKS!!!!! Now I'm hungry for wet mozzarella! :)

p.s. I can't wait to share this salad dressing with my dad! He's a HUGE salad lover and a BIG fan of oil/vinegar mixes!

That dressing is very similar to one I make except I've never added a sweetener. I can't wait to try it with agave nectar -- what an awesome idea!! I often put dried fruit in my salads and that little bit of sweetness should be just the right touch. ;) :D

Is EVOO olive oil?

Remember, I'm the one who looked for Cream of Tartar in the dairy aisle (where else would "cream" be???).

Oh, that is too funny Stacey!!! :D

Michele - I love to add fresh fruit or dried fruit in my salads too! I also love toasted almonds -- YUM! :p

I am going to try this dressing. My DH and I love balsamic vinegrette and the fresh garlic and a little added sweetness sounds great! Thanks Gayle and Carola :)

LOL, that's something I could have done, Stacey. Mine is even worse though. When I heard cream of tartar the first time I was shocked because I associated tartar with yucky stuff on teeth  My excuse is I had just moved to the US from Germany :D

EVOO is Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I think Rachel Rae came up with that expression.

Beavs-that's 1 TABLESPOON, sorry! My recipe shorthand (small t for teaspoon, capital T for Tablespoon). :)

Oh, and I've shared this recipe with FIVE people at school today! YUMMY!
