Care of your Dynaband. Did you know...

I ordered some extra Dynabands to have on hand just in case the one I got from Cathe ever breaks, and the instruction manual they came with said that because it's a Silicon product after you use it you should sprinkle it with baby powder and keep it stored in a plastic bag. This will keep it from drying out. However, because I'm a neat freak and the thought of getting baby powder all over my workout clothes, and on my step and floor, doesn't appeal to me I'm going to forgo this little step and see how long it lasts. I'll let you know in a few months if I should have followed that advice!:7

I have kept all of my 4 foot ones in a baggie with baby powder. SOme of these are 8 years old. They get sticky and you have to prize them apart if you don't do this. It depends on how soon you want to replae them. If you let it go till they get sticky it may mean a mishap when they break & tear.

Having been through physical therapy for back & shoulder problems, I have a few different "strengths" of dyna-band. Mine have been hanging on the back of my guest room door for a long time. I've had the oldest one for about 5 years, there is no difference in the new band & the old ones. I have never had mine stick together, they are the same now as they were new.

It may depend on your climate. I think that humidity makes a big difference. Hope this helps.

I will say this, the light weight pink Dyna band and the light weight pale green Reebok are the ones that keep trying to turn sticky on me. I wonder why?

They come with some kind of powdery substance on them (at least the ones I got from fwonline did). I noticed it all over my dark blue workout pants-yikes! I thought it was just for packaging purposes. I hope they last-I really do like them!

I used bands when I taught classes, so I have a lot of them. (You can buy it by the roll and cut to any length you like). I washed mine pretty often and in that case they really stick together! I put them in a paper bag and shake in some baby powder, then shake the bag up really well. This returns the sticky bands to their nice, new, non-sticky state. They only start getting sticky when all of the powder has worn or been washed off.

I was told by my professor (exercise science) that the bands should be replaced every 6 months or so because they lose their elasticity very quickly....Good thing they're cheap :)
