Besides walking, dance workouts and kickboxing, what are some good non-quad dominant cardio workouts?? ie. no plyo, no step, no metabolic cardio with squats
Yes, spinning can be very challenging on quads I thought about suggesting it but refrained myself due to it's "bad reputation
of building quadzillas" ---> "bulking"
I love spinning. I do get a great burn on hams and glutes. It's fun and I do get a great huff and puffing time
Interesting query, Stacy. I have never really considered cardio being quad dominant or non-quad dominant. I know during walking, X-country skiing and cycling, though, I feel every part of my legs working out! When walking, I look for inclines to hit my bum, though. The longer the stride, the more my glute muscles twitch. So, I might suggest if you use a treadmill to set it to inline for 65% or so of your session, perhaps?
I'm not using KBs frequently at the moment, although I recall kettlebell snatches as a cardio finisher were a time efficient way to condition the posterior.
ETA: Hills drills are very good to hit glutes and Hamstring ---> They do keep the focus OFF quads
A stronger glute keep the pressure off the knees! Who would not want that
