cardio first? Weights first? Circuit?

Hi Cathe,
I am wondering what is the most effective way to work out (burn fat and define muscles)? Would you recommend doing cardio before weights, weights before cardio, or circuit training? What is the most effective and why?
Right now, I am mixing it up from week to week. Thank you for any advice that you can give me!

There is a question like this in Fitness magazine's May issue on page 22. Here it is:
Q:Should I start my workout with cardio or strength training?
A: If your goal is to get stronger, strength train first while your body is full of energy, says Gary Scott, a personal trainer. You'll be able to lift more weight and do more repetitions. If you want to lost pounds, start with cardio. It raises your heart rate and boosts your calorie burn. Be sure to warm up for at least 5 to 10 minutes before you begin.
