Cardio Coach question

Just bought a few of these a couple of weeks ago to use outdoors..I love them! I jog ;) but there are no hills around me to speak of, so what would be good ways to do the hill resistance parts of these workouts? currently I take longer strides and speed up and if its windy, I consider that my resistance, but I´m thinking there must be better ways! TIA

I have only used CC on an elliptical, but most of the people I know who use it for outdoor running sprint the hills. I think the tempo of the music in most volumes works well for sprints, with the exception of Volume 8. Volume 8 is most definitely a hill -- very intense and focused -- and the tempo would be too slow IMHO, especially the 2nd challenge. Again, I'm not a runner so don't quote me on it. Hopefully someone else will see your question and chime in here.

I read somewhere -- maybe at VF or the CC website -- that people have done walking lunges but that seems like it might be awkward to do outside.

I found this thread on VF. Maybe it will give you some ideas.

I run and power walk outside for my CC workouts. I will do things a few different ways. For hills and sprints I either run/walk faster, or I will bring along a set of 4lb weights and do upper body exercises during different phases. I really love my CC premixes that I created, too.

I run exclusively outside with CC. If I don't drive closer to the mountains I have to run on the flat and I usually just speed up for the hills, not as fast as the sprints but close. I just make sure I am in the right zone, either with a heartrate monitor or perceived exertion. Depending on the day that might be a power walk, slow jog or run.

Several people have mentioned walking lunges but since I run with my dogs it's really not an option for me

Thank you all for your great ideas. Hope spring comes. I can't wait to try to run outside with CC. I love his voice and coaching style. I always looking forward to count down 10,9,8,...Currently, I used it when I walk to and from Train Station to my office.

I love doing Cardio Coach outdoors while running. I sprint, do walking lunges, do burpees or squat thrusts, or sometimes bring a jump rope and do super-fast jump rope during the hills. Depending on your embarassment threshold, you might also do plyo squats or jacks during the hills. Anything that gets my heartrate wayyyy up is fair game.

I think this one has not been mentioned yet..... step ups. Find a piece of playground equipment or short wall or something, and do step ups. I like the walking lunges, too, but sometimes I just sub sprints.....

are you by a beach with soft sand? i often do the sprinting part on the road but when a hill segment comes i get in the soft sand to provide the resistance. for the most part thought i use my treadmill.

Thanks to all the replies...I have some really good ideas now! And unfortunately I´m not by a beach to run in the sand:(
