Cardio Coach #8 - You all were right!

I did CC#8 for the first time today, in the basement with my road bike on the trainer. Ooooh my, what an excellent workout!! Even the arm band for my iPod is drenched. Could the music for the 2nd challenge have been more perfect?! Loved, loved, loved this workout! Not sure if my legs will like it later on today, though.

Cheers,
Sandra

Congratulations!!

I'm totally in love with CC too. It's a fantastic workout and extremely motivating. I LOVE CC land and can't wait to go there again and again!!!

I did only challenge #3 on the TM the other day! OMG! I don't know how I'll ever make it through the entire work out now!:p

Glad you enjoyed it, Sandra!:)

I had 4, 7 and 8 and finally broke down and downloaded 1,2,3,5 and 6 last night. I'm big on having LOTS of options. I did 4 again last night and am kind of afraid to try 8 just yet but I LOVE the music. I was jamming at work one day before I'd worked up the nerve to even try #4 and my power lifting bud, Dave, came by and asked what I was listening to. I told him I was listening to Cardio Coach volume 4 and he just stopped. "Listening?" he asked... "When are you going to DO it (he was a personal trainer and I just slay him sometimes)???" Did it that night. I told him the music is just perfect for work because I'm constantly moving and It's very motivating. Last night when I was struggling through #4 I thought 'Geeze. This workout seems so much easier when I listen to it at work...' ;-)

I'm with you, Sandra, I did CC #8 on the elliptical last night and whew, my armband was soaked, too.....that was unreal! I can't wait to do another very soon.

Marcia. :)

Can I ask you a ? about the music?? I liked what I read about these CC downloads here, so I went to the website and looked at them. Teh descriptions say that the music is an Enya type music. Is that really true? I am reading how the music makes everyone want to work out and to me that kind of music would put me to sleep. Am I missing something here about these? I would love to have a fun workout on the treadmill or running (both of which I find incredibly hard because of the boredom factor) but maybe this isn't the right thing for me as I really get inspired by music with a great beat.

I think an Enya-comparison is not correct. It may be sort of "new agey" so in that sense like Enya, but it's very energizing. I'm not sure how to describe it. I was really worried I wouldn't like it before I'd heard it, too. To be honest, I don't especially notice it or remember it much, but I know when I'm doing it, the music fits, if that makes sense.

The only way that it's vaguely Enya-like is that some of it is world beat. It has a very trancey feel to it, especially the music in Vol. 8. Trust me, you won't be falling asleep:p

Irish, I know what you mean about being inspired by a great beat. I love, love, love music. The thought of running without any...well, it just befuddles me that people can do it. I'd miss it too much.

My personal CD collection has everything from high energy disco, 70s hard rock, 80s techno and heavy metal, 90s dance, etc. This is what I use on the treadmill to get me going, and I have found Cardio Coach's soundtrack to be equally effective. It's upbeat, new-agey in a funky, good way, and the music matches the challenges well, opening up when you're sprinting at a Level 4, delivering a rhythmic, hypnotic beat when you're climbing a Level 3 hill. I have yet to find myself thinking, "If only the music were better." It's spot on. :)

wow! Well those are certainly good endorsements!! I will have to go back to the webite and look again. If you buy them do you immediately download them from the site? Is the CC #8 for running only (and what level is it-- if I am not a great runner is it still appropriate for me?) thx in advance

Karen

WOO HOO Sandra!! May I ask what kind of bike trainer you have? I'm planning to get one for my bike.

I totally agree -- the CC music is definitely spot on! I don't know nuttin' 'bout music, I just know I love the CC music and it fits the workouts perfectly. ;-)

ETA that yes, they are available for immediate download, and CCV8 is allllllll hills. :D

ETA again that V5 and V7 are great for runners.

You won't regret a single CC purchase! Go to the website right now and get the buy 5 get 2 free special that is going on! I did earlier this week and am LOVING them :)

Karen, I'm pretty sure all of the CC volumes can be applied to any kind of cardio ~ running, walking, biking, an elliptical, etc. I've even toyed with the idea of using it while jumping rope (which may kill me...if you never see me on this forum again, you'll know I attempted it :+ ).

I bought the CD, so I haven't had the MP3 experience yet. Many here have downloaded the volumes though, and I believe after purchasing them, the CC website sends you the download via email.

I'm not a great runner, that's for sure. I did 5 miles once like...8 years ago. Now if I knock out a steady 2 miles (rare), I'm hugely impressed with myself.

In other words, I think whatever volume(s) you get will work for you, and you'll be pleased. :)

I did this one lastnight for the 3rd time. I burned almost a 1000 calories in an hr. I love love this workout! Its very challenging, both physically and mentally.

Laura, you are absolutely right about the mental challenge! I had to break through a mental barrier in the 2nd challenge. It felt SO HARD and I kept thinking that I couldn't do it, but I stuck it out and got the most intense endorphin high! The coaching is EXCELLENT in this workout -- Sean just makes you believe you can do anything. ;)

If you have an iPod or some other mp3 player, then I would get the download, but make sure you burn a CD for backup. ;)
