Cardio Coach 4 or 5?

Cathlete
Hello Again,

If you had to pick just one, which Cardio Coach would you buy, 4 or 5? And why?

Linda

I'd go with #4. For me, the music is better and the challenges are be more "fun". I'd have to say that the intensity is similar in both, but the time seemed to go much faster with #4.

A second vote for #4. I have both, and on several occasions, I've actually switched mid-workout from #5 to #4 because 5 just wasn't doing it for me. There's something special about 4, don't know what it is, I just know that I like it.

Thanks Dee and Shelbygirl. You have definitely made up my mind and decide what workout I am doing tomorrow morning. I might not thank you afterwards though. I did CC #6 with Candace the other morning (first cardio coach ever) boy, was that tough!

Linda

4 and 5 are both less tough than 6.

I find 5 tougher than 4.

4 and both 6s are my most used.

I love 4 for the music. It spurs you on and makes you forget all about tiredness. I tag it to the end of weight training. It kicks my butt, but there is no dread factor about doing it immediately after a tough weight workout.

Hope you enjoy it too.

I Googled this cardio coach and did not see a vol 4 on the list. Am I missing something? And are these really challenging for someone that is intermediate to advanced?

Hi Christie:

Here's a link to the whole list:

Looking at the length and descriptions of the workouts for the first time,I wasn't sure they would really be challenging, either. The nice thing about Cardio Coach is that you can make it as hard as you want.
I use them while running outside. In each workout, you have a warmup for a few minutes and a "steady state" phase that lasts about three to five minutes, and then you do challenges, which are either interval training or high-intensity interval training, depending on the challenge and your approach to it. I do lots of Cathe cardio and these still felt difficult.

I have #4, #5, #6 with Candace, and #7 and I find all of them very effective for a high-intensity cardio workout. Sometimes, the inspirational language is a little much ("Will you be the Lion? Or the Gazelle? The hunter? Or the hunted??" Puh-leeze.), but they definitely make the time fly by, they keep me focused, and my endurance and performance have definitely improved since I started them.

Dee

i know you didn't ask about 7, but that is most definitely the one i choose the most. i have all of them and i like that and press play the best.

press play has a little bit from most of the workouts so you can get an idea of what the others are like.

Christie,

They are super-challenging at any fitness level. They workouts define 4 levels of exertion and i am paraphrasing so please look at the site for more accurate definitions:
1-recovery
2-steady state (working aerobically / comfortably)
3- working hard - not yet anaerobic but working hard, at a pace that you cannot sustain for too long without getting anaerobic
4- max effort - anaerobic

During the workout there are intervals in which you do hills or sprints at level 3 or 4 and then recover, with steady states interspersed. You have to select the settings on the cardio equipment based on your fitness.

I was doing advanced cardio workouts with DVD, and I kicked up my cardio-fitness several notches upwards with Cardio Coach. At age 40, I run at speeds faster than ever in my life now!
