Carbomb Cupcakes at Holiday Party...are these OK??

So I was one of the lucky ones (haha) to be elected to make a dessert for our office's holiday party. I really want to make these AMAZING Irish Carbomb cupcakes and everyone at work drinks. The problem is, there will be kids there. Because of downsizing, there are a handful of us left so to fill slots my boss invited everyone and their respective families.

Granted, there is a minuscule amount of liquor in these when you look at it as a whole but it might be poor taste to make an entire "adult" batch. I was thinking to make 1/2 with the whiskey and 1/2 without, Bailey's on all of them though for the taste and I would just let everyone know it's in there. The Guinness cooks off so I'm not worried about that part. Do you think that will be ok? Also, I'm not the only one providing dessert for the night so the kids will have other options.

I think making a 'kid-friendly' batch (maybe with a frosting decoration with kid appeal, to make them more obvious) would be the best thing to do. And make sure the adults know there is alcohol in them. Some might not want to indulge (and you never know who might be a recovering alcoholic and unable to safely ingest alcohol).

As a parent I would appreciate and alternative for my kids and I don't drink so I would appreciate and alternative as well.:D Carbs and sugar are bad enough with out adding the ketone from the alcohol:eek:
 
I would probably find a different recipe for an office holiday party. Too many things to consider and too many possibilities. Save this recipe for a private party.
 
Just wanted to add: if this is a daytime party (rather than nighttime), I think they would not be appropriate.

It's a nighttime party off-premise...and I'm talking a very late night with lots of drinking as it is for every party lol. As I said, my company is comprised of a bunch of drinkers, embarrassingly enough. And I don't mean a little tipsy, I mean all-out "I know things I shouldn't as a result" drinkers.

Yeah, I'm just gonna take the safe route and save these for my bff's new year's eve party. Too much to worry about, plus WAY too much work. Maybe I'll pick something from the cookie thread ;)

I looked at it differently. I would make them and mark them as containing alcohol. That way, the co-workers can make an informed decision...and enjoy what look to be YUMMY cupcakes if they so choose!

Doesn't anyone find the name of these cupcakes a bit offensive?!?!?

Who cares about the booze! Call them something else, please.
 
I think as long as you label them and bring a kid/non-drinking batch it would be fine. Pretty much what everyone else has said! I just think people would appreciate knowing in advance like that!
 
An on ol' Irish BFH I would call them Lushcakes (I lost a distant cousin to the "Troubles") and heck with the kids. They can stay home and watch Barney or Mylie Virus or have some dang rice krispy treats. Christmas is all about them anyway. Let the adults have fun for once!
