I so can't believe I am doing this, I am now 38 years old and I am going to get my GED!!!!!!!!!! and then I am going to school for x-ray technician and phlebotomy!!!!! and going to get certified in other fields as well!!! I am happy but scared to death, I am now taking a class to help me study for the GED!! I take it in a couple of months, I sure hope this inspires my son to work in school so he won't have a hard road to struggle like me. I feel so old doing this but it is about time I get it together with my life and do something.

You are going to be the age you are no matter what. Why not at the same time make your life better and yourself happier?

That said, good luck!! You should be very, very proud of yourself.

P.S. The girl is so amazing, we are so lucky to have her. She keeps our department running smoothly & our payroll accurately processed. LOL!:D

That is so awesome! I know it is very hard to get back into school. Don't let fear overcome you. You are definitely making the right decision. Good luck and congratulations!:)

Lesliemarie,

Good luck on your journey. When I started back to college a few years ago after a 20 year absence, I felt sort of the same way...but I am so glad I completed. I had to take five math classes that didn't even count as credit and that was very difficult to swallow. You are doing this for you and that's wonderful!

Congrats to you. Be proud of yourself! I am also a Phlebotomist, so if you have any questions let me know. Good luck to you!

I think that's awesome! I got my GED when I was 16. From what I remember, it was pretty easy.....it was pretty much like the basic skills tests they give in HS. Don't panic & good luck to you!

You know I have felt so crappy about myself for so long and so depressed for so long that I felt I had to do something for myself for once, and this is it, I am so excited but yet scared, I so sucked at math and that is scaring the you know what out of me LOL. But my hubby and believe it or not my 15 year old is helping me LOL. And I have a teacher twice a week, but I think I need more help. I am going to clean my house so clean and then sit down and work on my stuff. I finally feel good about myself. I love the sweet taste of succeeding at something.

That is a fabulous decision and even though it may stress you out and be a bit scary, you own't regret it! be proud of yourself for taking this step and keep us posted on your progress. you know us.....we want to hear all the details! Good luck with your studies and furthuring your education!:D

We are proud of you!

Good luck to you, Leslie. You're never too old to learn something new and accomplish what you want or need to accomplish.

I know I want a career change, but right now I can only wait for a time when motherhood doesn't consume me so much anymore. Have no idea when that is. But I know I'll do something, anything, to make that change when the time comes.

You're also setting a wonderful example for your boy. That in itself is its own reward. I wish you the best.

Wow, that is so wonderful...My father got his GED, transferred to a community college, tranferred to Fresno State University and graduated top of his class with his Masters. Mind you, he could barely read beyond a 6th grade level and didn't know a noun from a verb.

I know you can do it! Turn that fear into motivation. Best to you. deb:)

One more thing I wanted to mention, Lesliemarie.

I hated high school...I mean hated it. I barely graduated. I found that when I went back to college, I started with community college, it was much more fun. Part of it was because it was MY decision to continue my learning.

Hopefully you will find the same thing.

That is so true Candi. I dropped out of HS when I was 16 & I started college when I was 23. I was scared to death b/c I was the worst HS student ever. I had a rocky first semester but after I got the hang of things I really thrived. I finished undergrad w/a 3.9 GPA & went on to get my MA at Wm & Mary. I finished grad school about 10 years ago & I have to admit that if I could figure out how I'd go to school for the rest of my life.

Way to go! It's never too late to get back in school. I wish that I had the ambition to go back to college and get a degree. But it's just not there. I certainly respect people that can go back to school and finish what they had started. Good for you, I bet you'll do great!

Maximus,

I did the same thing. Kept on going to get my undergrad and then my Master's while I was working full time. I think I wound up with a 3.9 overall GPA. I sort of miss going to school but I'm glad I've finished...if that makes sense!?

I didn't do well in school because I gave up on myself, I let what my parents and the school counciler tell me, they all told me I would never succeed and that I will never mount to nothing, so I quiet. I figured they were right, but now I am doing it because I know I'm NOT a failure, I am only a failure if I quiet, so here it goes!! and let me tell ya I sure am having fun and kids are enjoying teaching me too LOL
