Can you maintain strength with tubing?

Well, I'm off to Italy for the next two weeks. Some of my hotels have what look to be decent fitness centers in them, but in case they turn out to be lame, I am bringing resistance tubing. If for some reason I have to rely on just the tubing, how much ground do you think I'll lose in two weeks time? I currently lift pretty heavy (at least I like to think so), using mostly 20's for biceps, chest and back and 12's for shoulders and triceps (more or less). Do you think working out with tubing will be enough to maintain where I am now? I'm guessing that the answer will be a big fat "NOT", but I thought I'd ask anyway.

By the way, while I'm gone, please refrain from discussing anything too educational, helpful, informative, funny, motivational or entertaining; I'd hate to miss anything!

Take Care,
Shelbygirl

IMHO you won't lose much ground at all if you substitute tubing for weighted strength work for that short a period of time. Try to incorporate body-weight exercises as well (push-ups with feet at various elevations; triceps dips; etc.) - and don't worry too much about it. When you're in Italy some things HAVE to take a back seat!

We promise to be dull while you're gone.

I think since Shelby didn'ty offer to take us with her that we should talk about EVERYTHING while she is gone. What do you think? J/K~Have a great time!http://www.mega-content.de/smilies/smilies_Picture/winkende/fakeltraeger.gif[/img]

I also agree with AJ~two weeks away from your heavier weights will not hurt. Enjoy a break.

I think if you use the right tubing you will definately not lose any strength. I've been using tubing with my 90X and sometimes it can be harder than weights. Don't underestimate tubing! Just use the right resistance.

But I agree with the others, if you are in Italy don't worry about tubing or muscle tone! You won't loose much in 2 weeks, especially if you manage just one or 2 workouts in that amount of time. Or you could do it like I would... Pack absolutely everything (tubes, mats, bands...), lug it around the country for 2 weeks and be too busy or tired to use it ;)

I've been playing around with the tubing every once in a while instead of using dumbells, and you get used to the feel. You can tell if you're working as hard as you do with dumbells, so I don't think you'll lose any ground. And besides ... you're going to Italy!!!!!!!!!! I'm so JEALOUS !!!!!!!!!!!! Have a fantastic time and be sure to tell us all about it when you return !!!!!!!!!!
