Can you help me pick my X-mas gift?

Hi all,

My sweetie just told me to go ahead and pick out some Cathe DVD's as part of my Christmas gift. Don't think they'll get here on time, but do I care? They'll be on the way!!! I'm like a kid in a candystore!!!

So I don't have any of her DVD's, just a couple of workouts I have taped on FitTV. I was thinking of the Body Blast series. I am not sure if the beginner workouts will be challenging over the long haul, so I'm thinking of going right into one of the other series - or do you think I should start there? I've done step before, but Cathe sure uses steps I've never done before!

Eventually I want them all (of course), but what might be a logical progression - Body Blast, Intensity, Hardcore - or some other variation? Should I spend the $ on the beginner tapes first? Any suggestions with this would be appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy,
I LOVE High Step Circut and Cardio and Weights Oh wait another Timesaver!! They all have a little of everything! A little of the Intensities and Blast series. Best of Luck to You and Merry Xmas, Nikki

Hi Amy! Body Blast is probably an excellent choice for you, but what do you think your level is? What have you taped and how is that level of difficulty for you? Give us a little more information so we can help you spend your money (or rather your sweeties money)! :) :)

Hi Jo,

I am really a beginner with Cathe. I have her Cardio and Weights on tape and also Rhythmic Step, Push/Pull and Bootcamp. The only ones I've done are Cardio & Weights, which I'm getting better at, and Push/Pull. Previously I was doing the Firm, and they are still somewhat challenging, but Cathe gives new meaning to that completely - and I really want that challenging level to increase my fitness and to boost my weight loss efforts.

I'm looking for something challenging that I can grow with as I become more fit - fun music - which probably describes most of her workouts! I want a nice mix of cardio and weights, and the ones that you can put together your own mixes sound really cool (and adjust the volume of the instruction vs. music - do you need a special DVD player for that???). Are there some other than the beginners (I guess I feel bad thinking after all the work I've done that I need the "beginner workout") that are perhaps better starting places than some of the more challenging workouts that are better suited for the more experienced Cathe-ites?

Thanks for your input!!!

Amy

Excellent! It sounds like Body Blast would be perfect for you then! For Body Blast you do not need a special DVD as these are just choices on the DVD that you select. I think if you've been doing the Firm that you don't need the Beginner workouts although they are nice for light days. I am advanced but still enjoy doing these! If you are like some of us here you'll end up getting everything anyway so it's just picking what order to buy! :) :)

CTX is an excellent series to own and so are the Intensities. I probably use portions of CTX more then anything as there are so many options for mixing and matching workouts and I incorporate them into other workouts all the time. The Intensities are the first series where Cathe had premixes. You'll definitely want those at some point in time even though you have C&W and Bootcamp you'll want the DVD's with the premixes. Also, if you taped those you'll want the entire workout. (Can't he just buy you everything? :)) I love the Intensities!

Anyway, hope this helps. No matter what you decide you won't be disappointed! Happy Holidays! :) :)

Hi Amy, From what you've said, I second the vote for BB series. Whatever you get, you're going to love it.;-)

Have fun,
Ruth:)

p.s. Give that sweetie of yours a big hug!:*

I don't know what your fitness goals are, but if you want Cathe-like results, consider getting the Intensities first. Those delivered exactly what they promised -- the next level. Can't wait for her Hardcore series.

However, there are really great workouts in the Body Blast series. KPC, Legs & Glutes, Step Blast are my faves. SJP is also a great crosstraining workout, although I still prefer C&W from the Intensity series because it's shorter. I just haven't found a way to put Push/Pull and Supersets into my rotations because Cathe's old workouts such as the PS series, PH, MIS and CTX-UB keep me occupied enough. Add to that the workouts I have from beachbody's P90X series, and I have more than enough for my rotations. I hope I haven't made decision-making harder for you.

One of the things I like about the Body Blast series is that you have a variety of levels. Supersets and Push and Pull are fun, but less intense but still effective. K,P and C and Legs and Glutes are more intense but not killers. And Step Blast is very intense (in my view), both in terms of choreography and exertion. I think this is a really good place start.
