Hi Kimbra,
Honey is a natural high glycemic food which similar to sugar spikes the insulin level in your blood stream. You can read more in depth what this does to your metabolism. Bottom line is that in addition to it's high caloric content, honey is probably not considered a BFFM "A" list food.
Personally I avoid all sugar, honey included.
On the same lines, most of your supermarket instant oatmeals contain sugar in them. When eating oatmeal look for the unprocessed, "steel cut" or 100% whole oats. This often means boiling for several minutes but ou can pre-prepare a multi-serving amount. To add taste to your oatmeal there are many ways to be creative. I add splenda and sugar free maple syrup. Other forum members will also have suggestions.
BFFM really means avoiding all flour, sugar and processed foods. It's a big change if you've never given them up before but you will feel amazing and have energy gains.
HTH,
