Can this be possible?!?!

Is it possible to gain 5 pounds in 2 days?!?!
I got on the scale tonight and it read 165 which would mean i gained 5 pounds since Monday! Is that really possible? I'm freaking out over here!! My husband tells me i'm overreacting. To stop worrying so much, but i can't help it. I had just finished eating and drank 2 liters of water, so maybe that could have made a difference as well. I just can't help but stress it.
Another question is: Which scale is most accurate; A digital scale, a bathroom scale or the scales they have in the doctor's office? (Can't remember the technical term).

Someone please answer these questions for me before i rip my hair out! x(

I believe the doctor scales are most accurate. As for gaining, I can do that too. Have you noticed it before? Over the weekend, I gained about 3-4 lbs. Mine has to do with not eating my usual, and then my delicate system gets out of whack. My Tuesday, it was almost back to normal. I freak out too, even though I know what the deal is. The simple fact that you had just drunk that much water and eaten is most very likely all that happened. I weigh first thing in the morning - anything else is not reliable for me. Don't freak out (easier said than done, I know. Just knowing those lbs are there, no matter if you will lose them as soon as they run through your bladder, is a total bummer.) I exercise when I feel gross, and that changes my frame of mind.

Yes, it is possible. I can gain five pounds overnight and as much as ten in a couple of days. My gains appear to be hormone-related as they happen every month.

I only get on the scale forst thing inthe AM right after I pee and its done completely naked! Not even one extra ounce better show up on that scale! I would definetly say all that water played a huge hand in the 5 lb. increase!

I don't personally gain that much weight overnight but trust me...I CAN gain a few pounds literally overnight and 5 in a couple of days depending on what's going on in my life, my diet and my body. I wouldn't worry too much. Quick gains like that are pretty much always temporary and would probably go away on thier own w/o your doing a thing. HTH. :)

I had an analog scale (dial) for years that was always light (by about 7 pounds!!!) compared to the doc's scale-and yes, ITA that the kind of scale doctors have are the most accurate so long as they are properly calibrated. Anyway, about a year ago I got a cheap digital scale. This scale is amazing! It's pretty much SPOT ON with any doc's scale I've ever stepped on. I love it!:)

On the flip side, I got a fancy digital scale for Christmas that had to cost $40 or $50 and it's not too far off but it does weigh me lighter by a couple of pounds. GO FIGURE.

I guess you don't ALWAYS get what you pay for!

Duh!

Never get on the scale in the evening, after eating, wearing any clothes or jewelry, before voiding (a nice way of saying go to the bathroom first). In fact, never getting on the scale is starting to become my mantra.

An ounce of water weighs one ounce. So you had just drunk 4 pounds of water! Of course that will show up on the scale!

Agreed! NEVER weigh yourself after eating or drinking. Weigh on an empty stomach, so your numbers are consistent and you're getting apples-to-apples comparisons.

Aside from the water - YES - it IS possible to gain 5 pounds overnight. I've done it. The good thing about that kind of weight gain is that it's usually back off as soon as you have a couple days of clean eating. I usually lose all of it an more. Let me tell you, a six pound weight loss in one day is impressive and motivating! :p I've had that happen too.

Heck yeah its possible. And agreeing with the rest, never, ever, weigh yourself after downing food or water!

Always do it in the am after using the loo.:)

I agree with everyone on this. I won't even weigh at the doctor's office without going to the bathroom first then removing whatever they will let me -- shoes, jewelry, etc. ;-)

thanks ladies for knocking some sense into me. And you all were right. I got on the scale this morning and i was actually 159! That's the kinda numbers i like to see. ;)

So no more nighttime weighing. :7

I also wanted to add the my docs scale has a 10lb difference from my home scale...and this was on the same day:eek:. So I go with my bathroom scale;-)

also,my weight also goes up 5-10lbs the day after i weight lift,or eat something salty!

Just adding my two cents(or has it went up also now with the price of gas:eek:;-))
