Can STS be used as a maintenance tool?

What if you don't want to gain strength? What if you like the way you look? Can STS be used as a maintenance program?

Also, what if you want to add a little definition? Do you just use Meso 1? Will you lose strength without Meso 3?

Thanks.

Try doing one week of meso 1, one week of meso 2, one week of meso 3.
(and I can understand if someone just wants to maintain the mass they have, but what's wrong with getting stronger? if that happens without much change in size?)

Thanks Kathryn. I guess I saw that rotation as undulating rotation.

I think my biceps are too big... some clothes fit tight at the biceps and fine everywhere else. I definitely don't want them any bigger. I know I'll get more definition if I eat better...

Sometimes I do think I've reached my personal limit on my weight lifting... genetically.

As I understand it, undulating periodization is doing different rep counts each workout, something like doing a Meso 1 workout on the first workout of the week, a Meso 2 on the second workout day, and a Meso 3 on the third day.

Isn't that the same as doing Meso 1 on week 1, Meso 2 on week 2 and Meso 3 on week 3? In STS, you only hit each muscle once a week; hence, second workout is the second week, third workout is the third week...?

No, (again, as I understand it). It would be doing a first workout in the week with 15 reps, the second workout in the week with 12 reps, and the third workout in the week with 8 reps, for example. (It seems to me like it would work better with full-body workouts, like New Rules of Lifting promotes, rather than splits).

Doing Meso 1 on week 1 would mean the same rep count for each workout for that week, which is not how I understand undulating periodization to work. (of course, there may be different ways of doing it? The concept is rather new to me as well).
