Can Somebody Recommend a DVD to Start?

Hello everyone!

I'm new to Cathe's workouts but not new to working out. I consider myself a intermediate/advanced (more on the advanced side, I think) exerciser. I've done step before but it's been a few years. So, my question is...can somebody recommend an advanced workout that's on the basic/moderate level in choreography? I think what gets me confused is when she uses both sides of the step and you're facing backwards. I'm sure I'll figure it out after doing it a few times, but if there's a particular DVD that I should start off to learn her moves/style, please let me know. I don't want it to be easy, though! I saw Interval Max and according to the clip, it looks like okay choreography. Anything similar to that?

Thanks so much for all the help!:)

I think her kickboxing workouts are great. Kick, Punch, and Crunch is a good one because it has an instructional segment in case someone is not familiar with the moves she does. For the step workouts, probably Cardio and Weights is not too choreographed, but most of her step workouts are. Also Drill Max and Low Impact Circuit are pretty basic with the step choreography and are my newest favorites.

Thanks! I guess it'll just be a matter of watching it a few times first. Are there different rotations posted (using maybe 2-3 different workouts) for different goals? For example, which ones are best for weight loss/toning? Or are they all great for weight loss?

Thanks again!

There are probably thousands of rotations. Some are posted in the Rotations forum and some are classics that some people have shared throughout the years. There are rotations for weight loss and toning, some for toning specific areas, some to get back on track, etc. You can check out the rotation forum for specific rotations or post a message with your fitness goals and hopefully you'll get some recommendations. I hope this helps.

I also need/like simple choreography but hard workouts, I consider myself advanced. These are the ones of Cathe's that I have that are easy to learn.

B&G
Drill Max - LOVE, LOVE this one
LIC
KPC & L&G- love this one also!
Kick Max - I do the blasts first, then kicking/punching combo/leg drills
Imax, RS, MIC
HSC
HST
Boot Camp & ME
Cardio Kicks& Circuit Max
Cross Train Express
Gym Style Legs
BM2- not as easy to learn
Cardio Fusion-also not easy

Hope this helps!

Thanks to both of you. That does help!

Right now, what I'm doing is some of Beachbody's stuff. I do Debbie Siebers' Slim in 6 and Slim Series workouts which are really great. I don't know if you're familiar with her stuff but basically lots of squats, lunges done at a cardio pace plus resistance work for upper body, more leg work and ab work, stretch, and yoga. I'm so bored with it now. So, I'm looking to keep one of these workouts in the rotation and alternate with some of Cathe's workouts - I was thinking the interval workouts.

I want to lose about 20 pounds. I build muscle really easy. I did check out some of the posted rotations but they seem to combine ALL of her workouts. And I just can't buy all of her workouts. At least right now. I think I've checked out most of them, looked at some of the clips, and the ones with more moderate choreography are Interval Max, Cardio & Weights, Low Max (although I've heard that one isn't as well cued), Drill Max and Low Impact Circuit. Although are there any ideas on how often you should do circuit training as opposed to just cardio?

I also really wish CrossTrain Xpress - Step & Intervals was available separately. That looks like moderate choreography, too.

Sorry for the long post. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!:)

I do have Slim Series...it is boring compared to Cathe but for body types like mine, it is very good-high reps/low weight. I work them into my rotation, some weeks I do 2-3 of Debbie's mixed in with other workouts then some weeks I'll only do one. I by no means know anything about what you "should" do, but a typical week for me looks something like this(this is what I'm doing starting tomorrow)

Monday- KPC Cardio, KPC Abs, & 30 minute Bun Shaper
Tuesday- Firm It Up
Wednesday- off night
Thursday- Powerstrike 1
Friday- B&G Leg Blast premix w/ added floor glute work or Cindy Whitmarsh Ultimate Fat Burner w/ B&G floor glute work
Saturday- Drill Mix-normal version (did the cardio/leg premix this weekend & love that one)
Sunday- KPC & leg drills from Kick Max & maybe Kick Max blast challenge in the afternoon

I put together my weeks workouts on Sunday and it is different every week.

I know what you mean about Debbie! I love her. She's got really effective workouts, but I'm bored out of my mind right now. I think I'll have to try a few Cathe workouts and see what works for me. I'd still like to throw Burn It Up in the mix because it's so effective. I just don't think I can do it six days a week anymore!
