Can I truly get results strength training once a week?

Hi Cathe!
I've been driving myself crazy trying to work every body part twice a week and keep up my cardio 6 days a week. I was wondering if I could get results by just training each area once a week--such as Upper Body Mondays and Lower Body Thursdays. I always work abs three times a week and get in 5-6 days of cardio. Is it possible? Could I actually take a day off once in a while?

Thanks for your input and I'm glad your knee is on the mend!

Bump...
I really want an answer...anyone can answer if Cathe's not available. Can I still get results (or at least maintain) doing Power Hour once a week or PUB once and PLB once? I've been trying to do each 2 times per week thinking I have to to see results. Anyone?
:)

Not Cathe here - I think a day off does you more good than trying to stay on a strict schedule. I've found that if I keep pushing myself sometimes, it does more damage than good.

Upper body one day and lower body on another or maybe two days later is a great idea. Your muscles really do need time to rest.

Take care-
Dianne

I get good results with once a week training on each body part if I use heavier weights. If I am using lower weights, higher rep, it works better for me to do this type of weight training twice per week.

I think it has a lot to do with genetics. I'm your classic mesomorph so I can look at a weight and put on muscle. :)

Hi Muffin Top,
Not Cathe, but I do have some input for you. I've had good success with working the body for life rotation (UB, LB, UB say M,W,F with 4 days of cardio and then alternate the next week LB, UB, LB etc). After approximately 4-6 weeks I will switch it up and go to a Full body on Tues and Friday with cardio the balance of the week and yoga or pilates on Sunday. I hope this helps.
