Can I add non-Cathe DVDs to WM?

Gobias

Cathlete
If this has been addressed, I can not find the answer. Is there a way I can add a non-Cathe DVD to workout manager OTHER THAN choosing DVD --> Other --> Typing in the other DVD info.

I do, or will do, several DVDs on a regular basis that are not in Cathe's drop down and am getting tired of having to type it in every time. I was hoping I can input everything (title, time, met value, etc) and just have it magically pop up in the drop down menu.

Thanks.

Hi, to answer your question,Yes, you can. You have to select DVD and Other from the Drop down menu where is lists all Cathe's DVD's alphabetically. Choose Other, now you'll need to fill in the other fields such as Met Value. You'll need that to be able to get it to figure calories burned. What I do is look at which workout of Cathe's is most similar to the dvd I am using that is a non cathe dvd. Once there is a Met value it can then calculate Calories burned and you'll need to fill in length of time. Now if you are doing something different say using a bike or treadmil workout, I sometimes use Cardio Coach for example. I will select Cardio from drop down menu instead of dvd and then look for cardio machine, then look for treadmil or your choice of cardio machine. Then determine once again what this workout is similar intensity to of Cathe's then use that metabolic value, fill in length of time, and then calories burned will fill in for you. You'll need to fill in distance etc. but you'll know that judging the distance the cardio machine of choice has tallied for you. I hope that helps. This is what I do when I use a non Cathe workout in the workout manager. Good luck and I hope that works for you.

Best wishes in reaching your fitness goals,;)

Thanks, Nora.

That is exactly what I am doing now. I was hoping there is a way I can permanently add a non-cathe video to MY drop down menu since I do some of the same videos over and over. That way I do not have to fill in all of the info every single time.

For instance, I did Horizontal conditioning three times last week. Rather than have to fill in all of the info (title, time, met, calories, etc.) three times, is there a way I can add HC to my own drop down menu so it is there waiting for me.

I find that I am not entering my non-cathe workouts since it just takes too long.

On occasion I'll copy one workout to another date. Not sure if this is any faster though. In case you don't know how to do this in the calendar click on a workout you've done that you want to copy and do again. On the right side click on 'show details'. Scroll down and click on 'copy workout'. Choose a date and confirm.

Update: Just found the 'Workouts' Tab in the Workout Manager a few over to the right from the 'calendar' tab. You can add in your own workouts to this, name them, choose cardio/strength, met, time etc. It seems a little bit complicated but doable.

I add my other workouts to the WM by selecting the "Workouts" tab, and then there is an option to either create or edit a workout. The default is to create a workout. You must select one of three options - cardio, strength, or cross train. Then you fill out all the fields, and you must add at least one exercise to the workout. You can add as many as you wish, but you must add at least one. Save the workout. Then when you want to add that workout to your calendar, you select from the choices offered in the main drop down menu (cardio, etc.) and you will see your workout listed. Hope I explained this well enough. :)

Yes! I got it to work. Both the copy feature and the add my own feature. Thank you three for answering. I was hoping there was a way.

The add your own feature should have more "Other" options as I don't know what Horizontal Conditioning and Lastics and Tonique would be. I guess as long as I get Step 2 as right as possible (time, met, calories), it doesn't really matter.

Thanks.

EDITED TO ASK: I inputted a bunch of non-Cathe Videos and they are in my drop-down menu. Anyone know of a way to alphabetize them? They are just in random order depending on the order I input them. Confusing especially for Horizontal Conditioning since all the names are similar (01, Vol 1, #2, #3, Get Started, Get rolling, Feb 101, Feb Hard Core, etc.) (also, really liking the copy feature!)

Glad to hear of your success Gobias. :D Unfortunately, I do not know how to alphabetize the workouts. I name my workouts best I can to identify them easily enough in the drop down menu. If anyone knows how to alphabetize, I'd love to know also. TIA. :)

Gobias- I don't know if this helps, but for Horizontal Conditioning at least I always choose "Core workout" when I input that into the WM instead of choosing the DVD option. I tend to plan out my workouts a month at a time. That way, when I glance at the WM I automatically know when I am doing HC as it shows up with a blue Core icon. I still have to input the names individually but I guess that doesn't bother me. If I'm doing a club dvd I just abbreviate it. For example, let's say I'm doing a Horizontal Conditioning January Year 1 Hardcore. I write HoCo Jan Y1 HC. If it's a 101 I'll write HoCo Jan Y1 101. Then I just write the minutes in there. I don't worry about Met values myself, so I can't help you there.
