Can anyone explain this?

Lately, due to work schedule changes and volunteering at my kids school, I have had to workout at 9 p.m. instead of 9 a.m., a couple nights a week. Usually in the evening I am pretty tired and am ready for bed when my kids go to bed. But when I workout in the evening, I feel like I am on Speed. For instance, last night I did BC and was still ready for more when it was over. Typically, I am pretty tired after this workout. I just don't feel like I have worked out when doing my evening workout. But, I slept like a baby. Go figure?

I find that if I work out in the morning it's much harder. I think that it's because my body is not awake yet and has to push much harder, plus I am not near as coordinated at 5 am. Maybe it's an alertness issue?

If I work out in the evening, I feel like I have worked out, but I am not dragging like in my morning workouts. I put forward the same amount of effort at night. I think that my body is more "warmed up" for evening workouts since I have been walking much of the day and running up and down steps at work. Just a thought.

I like my evening workouts much better, but I also like having the workout out of the way by the time that I go to work - it's a catch 22!

I also work out after the kids go to bed. Because of their schedule, (and my DH working second shift) I have been working out at 9:00 p.m. for over a year. I have found that I enjoy working out in the evening alot more and I don't disturb my sleeping DH in the early morinings.

Sometimes it is hard for me to get the motivation, but I know it is helping me. I'm usually wired after the workout for about an hour afterwards. But when my head hits the pillow, the back of my eyelids are all I see until my alarm goes off in the morning. When I exercised in the morning it took me longer to get into the workout. I have made great progress in my cardio and strength, so I figure my body doesn't mind working out so late.

Maybe it's also a food thing? After an entire day, you have food in your system; when you work out in the morning, you either have no food, or very little food, in your system, and your blood sugar levels are probably much lower. Just a thought.
