Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help. I need some advice on daily calorie consumption in order to gain lean muscle and lose fat. I KNOW I don't consume enough calories and need to eat more, but I don't know where to start. HELP!!!!
Let me give you some basic information about me: I am 38 years old, I am 5'5 1/4, and I weigh about 127 pounds. I workout about 5 - 6 times per week...both cardio and s/t. I don't know my body fat or any of my measurements, but I think by most peoples account I LOOK lean. However, when I compare myself to Cathe and the other girls, I clearly have a layer of fat I need to remove. I only workout to Cathe's videos but I only have a few. Any suggestions on other tapes would be helpful. I have just recently decided that I want to take my fitness to a new level.
OK - I KNOW that I should be consuming a lot more calories than I do now, but I can't get it through my thick skull that I won't gain weight. I don't necessarily need to LOSE but I want to get rid of this layer of fat. I probably consume around 1200 calories a day...that might be pushing it....let me tell you what I eat in a normal day...
BREAKFAST : NutriGrain bar, or Special K, or 240 cal size Yogurt
Mid morning: Gogurt (unless I have yogurt for bfast) Banana
LUNCH: Tuna, Chicken Breast, or Hardboiled egg on 2 slices of whole grain bread; 1 pc of fruit, Sugar free jello
Snack: 1 pc of fruit
Snack(while I'm cooking dinner): 1 pc of fruit
Dinner: Chicken breast, salmon, 1/2 sweet potato or baked white potato, and veggie
That's about it....It's pretty much that, day in and out. On the weekends, I may have 4 egg whites w/ 1 yolk, 1/2 slice of cheese, 3 slices of turkey bacon, and roasted potatoes or 1 slice of toast for breakfast
If I'm on the go, I may get a take out salad (I use my own lite dressing) or I might go to Quiznos if I feel like "cheating"...
Or I might eat a Lean Cuisine pizza...
I know, this sounds pathetic...but I just don't know what to eat...
I'd really like some opinions from you "experts" out there....maybe you were once in my shoes but have changed your ways and look and feel better than ever?
BTW, I like red meat but don't buy it, I would though. I don't care for beans but I might be willing to try. Haven't had pasta in years...but that is more because I eat way too much. I don't really care about carbs? Should I? And can someone please explain nuts to me? I love nuts but I'm afraid I'll eat too many....Oh and occasionally I will slap some peanut butter on a peice of whole grain bread or an apple as a snack!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!! :7
