Hi all :)

Just wanted to share a site with you, it's calorieking.com and it does much of what fitday.com does, just a little different.

They have a fast food database that is AMAZING! It must have 100 fast food/restaurants listed, so for those of us who keep a food log/journal, I thought you might want to jot down the site for future reference.

Thats so funny that you mentioned this site because I was just on it seconds ago. It does provide alot of useful information. I have been an avid exerciser for a long time but have not seen the results I wanted until I really got serious and started writing down what I was eating. What journals do you use? I use The Phoenix's Guide to Self Renewal by Melissa Alvarez for my food intake and The Motivator by Josh McKenna for my workouts. They are available at amazon.com.

Thank you for sharing this site! It is awesome! There are several fast-food items that I eat from time to time at Schlotzky's and Panera Bread, to name just two, that I've never seen on any other data base. This is a great resource!

I was about to suggest this site too! I just recently found out about it from another forum. It seems to be very 'labor intensive' though! I have to look into it a bit more. It seems to have lots of nutrition facts for fast foods (like Tim Horton's - one of my favourites!)

I just joined this site as well. Can you log in your food and exercise too? I saw a place for an online diary (so I thought) but I couldn't get into it. I'm must be mentally tired today!! :)

Found it!!!!!! I went back and realized I had to check under Members. This site looks wonderful.

I typed in all of my facts and calorieking said that I should eat 1500 calories a day. Granted, I will lose weight on this, but I doubt I can do it for very long. I work out very hard 6x's a week and feel like maybe I need more than this. Am I just being gluttonous?

Hey Jillybean!! I had something similar happen to me. I put in my info, and grant it, I did put in that I'm light/moderately active since I'm STILL not consistent with daily workouts, and the program told me that I should be eating 1300 calories. Other than this "glitch", I feel that the database, community, etc. is great. I am definitely going to utilize the program, but up my calorie intake. I look at it this way......if I have a day where I don't workout, I will keep my calories to approximately 1400, and the days I do workout I'll eat approximately 1600-1800. I'm hoping this math will work out o.k. for me.

Yes, do your own calorie thing. I never listen (anymore) to any website that tells me to eat a certain # of calories. Your body is the best regulator for that. If you're working out pretty consistently, weights and cardio, 1300-1500 cal/day may not be enough food for you. I know it wasn't for me, I had to finally give in and let my body have its way. I usually range anywhere from 1600-2000 cal on any given day. Sometimes more depending on my activity level, but an average would probably be 1800 cal/day.

I too get a little nervous about trusting my body to dictate my calorie needs, but other than having to argue it down over "we really don't want those sandwich cookies now do we?" it usually does pretty good. It does get a little confused after 8pm., keeps trying to make me think it wants ice cream, but that's another story...
