My cat Simon is as round as Pepper in the second photo (and he's not pregnant!).

And Pepper's boyfriend is a handsome guy!(Look out Brad Pitt!).Those are going to be some beautiful puppies.

>I didn't get Pepper until she was almost two years old, but
>here is a picture of her as a puppy.

That is a PERFECT calendar shot!

>>I did notice there weren't any pic of you . Although I figured >>those were your feet and hands behind Pepper.

Carolyn, that's not me behind Pepper, that's my 11-year-old son. I don't have any digital pictures of myself - I hate my picture taken :)

This is me before I gained the weight, it is not very good because I scanned it. I look pretty much the same, just bigger, ahem, a lot bigger. I will work out with Pepper after her puppies are weaned, the only two girls of the house will lose weight together :)

But I will post before and after pictures after I think they are worth posting, meaning when I see a difference.

>handsome devil...those are some eyes! I'll bet all he had to
>do was look at Pepper and she was his forever!;)

ROTFL, Wendy. Actually, the first time he came in, he didn't waste any time, no flowers, no dinner, barely hello - got right down to business }( Basically a dream date, right :p :+

Carola,

You have no idea (you will soon though!!!) how hard it was for me to sell those puppies. Three of the five went to my ex's family members and the other 2 went to private buyers.

I screened the he** out of those buyers because it was like watching someone come in and take your kids away. (well, probably not as dramatic as that, but, pretty darn close!).

I cried like a baby each time one of the puppies left (around 8 weeks). I mean, I was inconsolable. Even though I knew each home was perfect I still worried that they would have a hard time adjusting to a new environment. But all dogs do adjust and you just have to know that they will be in loving homes.

Here are a couple more pictures of Bella nursing. These were taken the day the puppies were brought home from the vet...only a few hours old.

Oh...by the way...I love the puppy picture that you posted!! Kathryn was right, that is a total calendar shot!

Awwww, how sweet!!!

You have no idea, how much I am dreading the giving up the puppies part. I don't have anything to do with the "selling" part of the puppies. All but one are the breeder's. They will go back for evaluation with Pat Hastings as soon as they are 6 to 7 weeks old.

We'll see how many show/breed quality pups she has, I guess 4 of the show/breed quality pups are already spoken for, but I understand that can change. If I decide to keep one puppy he/she can stay with us.

Actually, I just took her temperature and it dropped about 1 degree from yesterday. I understand that is a sign that labor will be starting within the next 24 to 48 hours.

I think now lots of alcohol is required for me to get through that :+ }( I am already bitting my nails and watching her like a hawk.

Carola,

Yes, the dropping of the temperature is a sign that labor is in the not-too-distant future!!!

My vet had told me to watch for a consistent drop (i.e., over a two day or so period) then when it reached about a 3 degree or so difference, she would be ready to pop!!!

I was extra careful with her because of the fact she was having a C-section. I had dreams of waking up to a house full of puppies before her C-section date!! I would literally sleep with one eye open watching for any signs of labor.

Just be easy and relax. I know it is nerve wrecking, but natural instincts (for you AND her!!!) will take over nicely and before you know it you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately, I can't give too much advice on the "birthing process" though I wish I could help you out more!

I am sure your vet has prepared you accordingly and you will do wonderfully...along with the new mommy!

Please keep us updated when the blessed event occurs!!
