How often should I be doing this for best results? I usually try to do the whole thing in it's entirety including the bonus sections. My body is fried by the time I'm done as you can well imagine! Also wondering if anyone knew an approximation of how many calories you can burn during this workout. I realize it's different for everyone. I wonder if a heart rate monitor would be an accurate tool to tell. I have a pedometer, but I HOPE it is not accurate! It says during Muscle Endurance I only burn 38 calories. Sorry, but judging by my HUGE sweat ring, I can't believe that's accurate. Thanks for any advice! You all are so inspirational.

I'm not sure about the frequency for best results, I guess it depends on your goals... but I wanted to share that if you use the Workout Manager, that tells you the calories you burn per DVD. (Not sure if it's entirely accurate because you have to factor in your energy output, weights used, etc, but maybe it's a general idea). When I add workouts to my calendar, there is a section that says "calories burned", check it out!

BTW, another member here posted a rotation once that she used for Butts and Guts. I don't remember her name but I did copy and paste her rotation to save it and try sometime. I hope she doesn't mind me sharing:

"I am going into my 4th week rotation of b & G. I am seeing amazing results, my thighs have slimmed down a bit. Although in the beginning (week 2) I lost 5 lbs, the weight total lost is 7 lbs, but people can see a difference. Here is a sample of my rotation:"

week 1
Day one -butts and guts (the whole dvd) and upper body premix from the 4day split.
Day two- cardio of choice
Day three- rest
Day four - butts and guts- premix overall leg and upper body premix from 4day split
Day five- cardio of choice
Day six- circuit cardio
Day seven- rest

Week 2
Day one- butts and guts (the whole dvd) and upper body premix from 4day split
Day two-cardio of choice
Day three- rest or stretch
Day four- butt and guts premix leg blast and upper body from 4day split
Day five- cardio of choice
Day six- butts and guts floor work premix and upper body from 4day split
Day seven- rest

"Then I repeat week 1 and 2 respectively. I also walk 1 -2 miles a day during lunch at work. Hope this works..."

A heart rate monitor is a great investment. And yes, I can guarantee you are burning more than 38 calories! I find that my calorie burn isn't quite as high as that listed in the workout manager but it is a good approximation. Your calorie burn depends on your energy level (stamina), how high of intensity you put into it (this is mostly mental), your fitness level, weight and how new you are to that specific workout (if you are new to the workout you'll tend to burn more calories, all things being equal). Oh! And it depends on how heavy you lift relative to your abilities. If you really push yourself, you'll burn more!
 
I would use Butts & Guts twice a week or maybe as a second leg workout in a heavy weight rotation to add some definition. A mix with circuits is also good if weight loss is the goal. Butts & Guts + Body Max 2 or Drill Max would be a killer rotation. :eek:

Hi Snitker!
I'm not sure why it's saying you burned zero calories. I just double checked my calendar and when I brought up "Butts and Guts", it gave me the MET value, AND the calories burned (559). Not sure if I actually burn that amount when I do it, but that is the amount that shows. Maybe there is some sort of glitch with your calendar? Sorry I could not help more!

Do you have your height and weight entered in your profile? That is how your calories burned are measured, IIRC.
