butt Kicks

I can't do Butt Kicks. That is just too much impact on my feet (especially working out on concrete). Are there any good modifications?

I cant do the butt kicks with that many risers. I try with 3 risers. Butt..last time I did them, I screwed up my back. I guess my core just isn't strong enough to take me over that many times and I ended up straining my back.

I think I'll just do some jumping jacks, high knees or whatever just to keep my heart rate up. I've had to take off almost 2 weeks from exercising because of it so better safe, than sorry! I'd be interested in other's modifications..

I just want to say, Butt Kicks are my LEAST favorite move ever. I don't do them. I usually just stand of the end of the step , hold on, and "butt" kick (though I never reach my butt) side to side. It is a lot of impact on my feet too. I feel like they are JAMMED into the floor (I have carpet covered cement).

I wish there was a better modification or substitution.

I can't do them either -- I usually just substitute something else during that time. Like Cheryl said before -- something like jumping jacks, etc. -- anything to keep the heart rate up.

Butt kicks kick my butt!

When I first tried butt kicks, I didn't think I would be able to do more than two or three either! The trick is to start slow and controlled and don't try to keep up with Cathe. Feel yourself spring up for the bent knee position and control the impact on the way down. All you can do is keep trying.

I still like to do butt kicks at a slower tempo as Cathe does them in 4DS bootcamp.

When I look for a substitute move, I often think about what muscle or movement is being used and try and mimic that. I think of butt kicks as a hamstring contraction with core stabilization. So what about doing a speed skater movement with a hamstring curl and a focus on the obliques tightening up as you brace yourself in the stop?

I do butt kicks with a 6 inch step like in 4 day split bootcamp. When my hamstrings get tired or cramp, I use my upper body to push off a little and hop from side to side with a slower tempo.

BOSU for butt kicks

I do butt kicks on a higher step (3-4 risers) and land on BOSU. This reduces impact on my feet. :)
