Butt and Gut - of other lower body suggestions

Hi-

I've been doing P90x (on my 3rd round) but realize I need to supplement it with another day of lower body work.

I love L&G (for some reason more than anything other this is the best for my butt) and have been adding that in. I don't have Butt and Gut and wonder if this is a must have for lower body.

I've also got LL, PLB, and Gym Style Legs.

Any ideas GREATLY appreciated!

I really like this one. It has some different moves/sequences, somewhat more functional than the other workouts (walking lunges, wall squats, firewalkers, etc). It will definitely challenge you and add variety (for your mind and muscles). The ab sections are particularly good - particularly the bonus abs. Totally worth the price.

I have Gym Style legs, B&G, and L&G...

Out of all of these I use B&G the most, then L&G, and rarely do gym style legs... I tend to gain muscle very easy in my lower half so I really have to watch how much heavy weight I use when working legs & glutes and stick to high rep/low weight workouts. I found B&G leg blast premix to be the hardest workout but it really hits on your quads & actually made me gain more muscle than I like, much better cardio wise than B&G as is but I find the original version of B&G to be perfect for my body type. I often will add on the ankle weight work of L&G and the floor glute work of B&G to cardio days & have found that to be an awesome lower body workout for my body type. I also will add on the one leg deadlifts & sets of plie squats from L&G to my mix mentioned above when I have time.

So, sorry for the long winded answer but if you are looking for something not as "heavy" for legs & butt I would for sure spend the money on this one...

Hope that helps!

I personally use either GS Legs or B&G. I am doing the P90X routine as well. Tomorrow is Legs and Back, so I used GS Legs on Monday. I have to work my booty more than once per week.

I cannot use heavy enough weight at home to make my already muscular thighs bigger, so I love this workout, you can only hoist so much weight over your head right?:) I stick to the 40 pounds that the ladies use, and as I believe Cathe has explained in a previous post she does those low ends and pulses to make up for the fact we do not have access to a bar where we could really pile on a challenging weight.

Butts and Guts is hard, tough and totally worth it, I try and do this every week-the regular mix.

What you could do is supplement P90X with PLB floorwork. Its tough and effective! Works the butt really well. I am totally paranoid about my rear view, and this floorwork does it for me!:)

If you think L & G works your butt (and it's not too shabby) - you have to try B & G.

B & G is like a laser aimed directly at your butt. Another poster mentioned the leg blast premix - that one is an amazing sweat fest and really does wonders for my quads and inner thighs, as well as the rear end.

PLB and GLS are great, as well. They work your overall leg, including the calves. (I have LL but haven't done it yet!)

While it's not necessarily a 'must have' if you already have several Cathe lower-body workout, I think it's well worth it. And like L&G, which you love, it moves from one exercise to another without doing several sets of a move before going on. For me, that kind of set up makes the workout move faster and not feel as long.

I think this workout has a lot of unique moves in it and is pretty fresh compared to Cathe's other leg workouts. It has a high fun factor for me. It works the tush like crazy and the ab portion is great too. I did some of the floor work yesterday and the ab section and my abs are killing me today. I'm training for a marathon so I don't really work my quads if I can help it.

I think Butts and Guts is an excellent compliment to the workouts you have listed. It contains some very unique exercises. Firewalkers are really challenging.

Butts and Guts also has a really great core workout. Cathe uses some unique exercises mixed with traditional moves.

Butts & Guts also has 3 add-on selections that you can do when pressed for time, want extra routines, or you want to use in conjunction to your other workouts.

Although I am partial to Gym Style, I still think Butts and Guts is a wise investment - one I would not hesitate to make!

You might want to view the clip on Butts and Guts that Cathe has at this site as you make your purchase decision.

I hope this helps!

Hi ladies!

Thanks so much for your recommendation! As a result I ordered B&B. It arrived yesterday! I had already done PlyoLegs in the am - so did the shorter premix. I loved it!

I'm on my 3rd round of p90x and while I'm very happy with my energy, overall fitness, I'm finding I need more lower body (especially glute) than the X offers. Also on the 3rd round I'm adding in more other programs to keep it fresh!

Things seem to be FINALLY moving in the lower body last vestiges of fat

- Adding a day of L&G - love how hit lifts the butt :)
- Subbing a Cathe lower body for L&B. One day a week for back is fine! Phase II I got up to 8 unassisted chinups - now lower body FIRMING and ERRADICATING cellulite is the goal.
- Adding in 3 short cardios for doubles - I've been doing TJ - Fat blaster is my fave. SInce it's all about intervals - I'm thinking may add in Imax 2 or Imax3 (just 1/2 the intervalls) want a short workout.
- To keep it fresh I rotate KempoX, KPC and KM!

- Eating really clean is critical. I find I can just go so far but to get REALLY there I need to eat VERY clean - focusing on protein, veggies. I allow a cheat day on recovery week - but with a lot of travelling have had more this phase. Getting the 8 cups of water.

I think L&B is going to be great addition to this!

Thanks for the suggestions!

I love B&G and GS Legs as well as L&G and PS Legs (I also have S&H legs & LL), but my all time favorite, hit it all, leave me sore, feel the burn lower body workout is PLB. I also feel that my legs/hamstring area look best when I'm doing PLB on a regular basis.

I feel that Butts & Guts and Legs & Glutes work well together because they have a similarity in the exercises not so gym feel.

I feel that her other lower body workouts have gym style exercises that make them similar and work well together.

Butts & Guts is totally worth every penny. This is an extremely efficient workout. It makes other lower body workouts obsolete.
