Buff Badgers Week of Sept. 24th

No workouts on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. On Friday I experienced a problem with one of my eyes and had to make an appointment to see the opthamologist. I had an eye ache when I woke up and my eye later got very red. Later that day, I experienced extreme sensitivity to sunlight so I knew there was a problem. I was diagnosed with uveitis and have currently started a series of drops for a month. The cause is unknown but if it continues they will run additional tests. One of my friends had the same problem that started a couple of years ago and hers is autoimmune related but they have not pinpoint it to any specific. I am glad I went right to the doctor as I am trying to prevent any type of vision loss. I hope it gets better soon.

I spend time trying to exercise and eat well so I can manage my health and now this.

This morning was AfterBurn. That workout definitely tests the endurance level. It has been a while since I did it so I knew it would be a challenge. Was able to do 1/2 of the first set of sliding plank push ups and then I decided to do regular push ups in place of the last set. Just being able to do push ups after AfterBurn is an accomplishment itself.

Have a great day everyone. I have class tonight but I hope to have enough energy to get up in the morning for some upper body strength training.I will see.

Good Afternoon!!

Saturday I did Back and Biceps and then we had the Alzheimer's walk later in the morning. That was fun but cold. It was raining. Thankfully the rain stopped and the sun came out just as the walk started. Perfect timing.

Sunday was my rest day. Did some garden stuff in the morning and had my nieces bridal shower in the afternoon. She was totally surprise.

This morning was the start of week two in STS Meso 2 Disc 18 (I think), but I had chest, shoulders, and triceps.

Heartymax - Yikes.... it's a good thing you went to the doctor right away. Hopefully it'll get better soon. I love Afterburn!!

Hi Sue, Sam, Laurie, and Susan!

Enjoy the rest of your day!!
Brenda

Hello there! Saturday was my day off and Sunday I ran 5 miles in the morning and went for a 90mn hike in the afternoon. My hammys were very tight this morning. Over the weekend I went to Half Priced Books and bought a new pilates dvd. It's 3 workouts on 1 dvd. The one I did today was Cardio Pilates, 30mn of pilates followed by 30mn of cardio. It's rather low impact cardio but I was surpised how I was sweating in the end!

3 of the 4 people in this house have a bad cold, and I am not one of them. It had better stay away from me! Today I just feel blah, bloated, un comfortable, grouchy, headache... UGH!

Hearty, so glad you did the right thing and go to the eye doctor right away! Hope it clears up soon!

Brenda, you are doing great on your rotation! ;)

Hi Laurie!
Hi Sam!
Hi Sue!

Have a good night~ Go Pack Go! Susan

Good morning (sort of, what a horrible, horrible game last night!).

I did not work out Friday or over the weekend. Or yesterday. I'm not gonna lie. Getting my workouts in has really been a struggle. I'm not sure what it is exactly. I've been busy, sure. But I think my days being more unstructured now that I'm home has something to do with it.

Anyway, today I plopped DS in front of the TV, crated the dog, and did 4DS HIS and the back workout from CTX.

Heartymax- Oh no! Eye trouble... not something I think anyone expects. It can be scary though. I get ocular migraines from time to time, and the first time I had one I thought I was losing my vision. It's good that you have a diagnosis, but I hope things get better for you soon.

Brenda- I'm glad the sun came out for the walk. Saturday was a beautiful day. I saw a bride leaving a hair salon that morning and was thinking what a great day for a wedding it would be :)

Susan- I love finding those little gems at Half Price Books. I haven't checked out their video section in awhile.

Hi Laurie and Sue!

Saturday I babysat in the morning and painted all afternoon. Sunday we had church and Bible study, and then went on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Ikea to buy DS a big boy bed:D It was fun (I love Ikea with all of my being ;)) but exhausting. Yesterday I woke up feeling not-so-good. My mom had stomach flu and I was terrified I had caught it. I felt better by the afternoon, but still feel like I'm fighting off DS's cold. Not sick.. just "off".

Have a great day, everyone.

Good Evening Ladies!

This morning I did HiiT Pyramid, followed by CF Circuit Blast and CF plyo tabata. The combination kicked my butt but I loved every minute of it. ;)

Hi Susan - Sounds like you had a good workout on Sunday. Love it when I get new workout DVD's. What is the name of the dvd you bought. Hope you feel better!

Hi Sam - I've heard good things about Ikea. I've never been there before. Hopefully at some point you can figure out a certain time each day (at least for the majority of the days) to get your workout in and go with that. I can imagine its difficult when you have little one you have to workout around.

Hi Heartymax!
Hi Laurie!
Hi Sue!

Have a great night!

Hi there! This morning was the elliptical for 35mn followed by AB RipperX (from P90x).

Brenda: The dvd is called Pilates Tone & Burn by Gaiam. It has Pilates Conditioning for Weight Loss, Pilates Maintenance and Cardio Pilates.

Sam, sounds like you're in a rut... When I was a stay-at-home Mom I still got up early to get my workouts in. But, I am very much a morning person so that worked well for me. I know it's hard with the little ones to get that time to ourselves. Also, you don't have to workout every single day!:) Maybe make a rotation up where you work out every other day instead (m-w-f-sat) That way you wouldn't feel like you had to and you might find it more enjoyable..

I too have never been to Ikea but I have driven past it! One of those stores I think my wallet had better stay out of for now....

Have a good night ladies! Susan

Sam----I understand what you are going through trying to fit everything in your schedule. You can tell that my workouts have been fewer than normal the last few weeks. Some weeks I have only managed to get it 3 workouts and 4 on a good week. It has been a while since I hav done 5 or 6 which is more normal for me. Some days I just do 30 minutes just to make sure that I am doing something. Things are just pretty busy right now.

Brenda---you can put some great premixes together for a fun workout. Do you use digital downloads for that or are popping the DVDs in and out?

Don't even mention the game. I didn't watch it but I saw enough of the highlights to be totally disgusted. I know my forum buddies are GB fans so i started thinking of you immediately.

This morning was Cross Fire. I am having a hard time deciding if I like CF or TTM better. They are both great workouts with a fun factor. At first I thought I like TTM better---but I am not sure.

Hi Susan, Laurie and Sue!

Morning Ladies,

Sorry everyone, but I have not been feeling well these last few days. My sinuses have been giving me horrible headaches, and then that leads into nausea. Not fun, so no workouts for me. Of course all of this makes me a very crabby person. This morning was the first time I was headache free, so I was able to workout. Got in 30 Day Shred Level 1, and Skogg Roots Level 3.

heartymax, Sorry to hear about the eye, that really had to hurt. LOL about the game, it sure was a sad day for the NFL. ;) Just to bad that when it happened, it had to be with GB.

Brenda, I think you had asked about kettlebells. I have only bought one 15# kb, wrist bands and the Skogg system. Great workouts you have going.

Susan, Hope you are able to stay away from that cold. WTG on finding the DVD at HPB! I was there a couple weeks ago, but they didn't have anything that I wanted. ;)

Sam, Sounds like a great combo for your workout. This really is a horrible time of the year for sickness, just wish it would stay away from me. Glad to hear that you avoided the stomach flu. ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Good Afternoon!

This morning was Meso 2 Disc 20 Legs. I can't believe I'm on week 3 already of Meso 2.

Susan - I'll have to check out that DVD out. I would really like to get into Pilates more, especially with my legs. I don't like to get too heavy with weights with my legs because they are thick enough the way it is.

Heartymax - I just pop the DVD's in and out. I haven't done any of the digital downloads. How's your eye doing?

Laurie - Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Glad though that you feel better to get a workout in. I get crabby too when I miss too many workouts. I have to work this weekend so I don't know if I'll get my workout in and that bothers me and I'd only be missing 1 day.

Hi Sam!
Hi Sue!

Make it a great day!
Brenda

Alert the media! I've worked out two days in a row ;) I "occupied" DS (put in a movie) and did the HiiT segment from TTM and the triceps work from CTX. This was my first time with TTM. I decided I couldn't wait around until I was ready for the whole thing. I had to do it on a 6" step. I simply can't jump on a 10" step. Well, I could a few times, but not when I get tired!

I've decided my energy level is the highest at mid-morning, right around 9 a.m.. So, I'm going to try to time DS's TV time (he's allowed to watch an hour or two a day), so that I can so my workouts then. I keep trying to make myself a morning person, but it's just not working. I have the freedom to work out when I want to, so I should quit trying to force myself to do it at 6 a.m., even if that would be the most convenient.

Susan- I bought a Crunch Pilates collection at Target today. I haven't given Pilates a try in awhile, but your recent rotation inspired me :) I so wish I could be a morning person... I've always been a night owl; I'd stay up till 1 am every night if I could. I do love quiet mornings with my coffee, I'm just not ready to be jumping around that early ;)

Brenda- I can't believe you're on week three of Meso 2 either! Wow. The time is flying! I'll try the 9a.m. thing for awhile. I think planning my days better in general will help me. I've allowed things to be too loosey goosey.

Laurie- I was the one who asked about kettlebells :D Thanks for the info. I've been tempted, but I've always worried I'd have to spend a whole bunch of money on bells. Maybe someday...

Heartymax- I'm glad you were thinking of us on Monday night. Misery loves company :p I have to learn to just be happy with three workouts a week or just 30 minutes a day instead of beating myself up over it. I think it's because I was working on losing weight for so long, and I haven't quite made the transition to maintaining my weight instead. I don't need to go quite so hard.

Hi Sue!

Have a great afternoon, everybody. I hope you're all enjoying this gorgeous Fall weather! It's the best time of year, in my opinion :D

Hello there! Well, the cold that had the other members of my home, found me as well..:( I didn't feel too great this morning so I just took Ruby for a very brisk 40mn walk and followed up with some core work.

Laurie, glad your headache went away. I am trying to nip this one in the bud early. Hoping to sweat it out some with a good run in the morning...

Brenda, yes, pilates is all I have been doing for my lower half and all of my pants are much looser in the rear and thighs.:) With my shape, if I lift weights for my legs they get bigger instead of smaller, whether I use low weights & high reps or not...

Sam, way to go on your workouts! Nothing wrong with having a little "babysitter" while you sneak a workout in, in my opinion!;) I have never tried Crunch Pilates so you'll have to let me know what it's like!

Have a good evening ladies! Susan

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

This morning I did 4DS Bootcamp cardio only and followed that with the DM blasts and stretch.

Sam - Yeah on the workouts!! I haven't done TTM since the first time I did it because of my leg. Leg is gradually getting better but I'm not ready for doing any step workouts yet. I certainly do miss my step workouts though like BM2, Imax 2.

Susan - Sorry to hear that darn cold found you. Hopefully it won't stick around too long.

Hi Laurie!
Hi Heartymax!
Hi Sue!

Make it a great day!!
Brenda

Hello! Woke up and ran 4 miles this morning, going to walk the dog in just a bit for about 30mn and then do some plank work. My cold is getting worse but I refuse to let it take me over!:p

Hope you are all doing well! See you tomorrow!

Rest well~ Susan

Sam- I have a hard time maintaining my weight at 140. I usually drop below that which I don't like or end up around 144 which I don't like.

I did homework yesterday morning instead of working out. I woke up with a headache this morning so no workout. I have my salad packed because I must eat healthy today with less workouts this week.

Have a great weekend!!

Hey Ladies,

Sinuses are still bothering me, so no workouts since the last time. And of course we must be having connection issues around here, because I have been getting timed out on a lot of web systems. It is very frustrating.

Brenda, I have just given up for this week, it probably will help me get over whatever is going on. I'm hoping that it will go away soon.

Sam, I new someone had asked about the kb's, glad that you got the info you needed. I'm not going to go into a heavy investment on these, the Skogg workouts are good enough for me right now.

Susan, Dang on the cold! I feel for you.

heartymax, Another one with the headaches! I hope that you are not suffering from the same thing I am. It really takes all morning for the thing to go away.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Afternoon!!

This morning was meso 2 Disc 21 back and biceps. Not sure what was going on this morning but didn't feel as strong as I had hoped. Everything felt hard. I got through it though.

Susan - Glad to hear you got a workout in and then a 4 mile run on top of it.

Heartymax - Since I hit 40 (now 45) keeping that weight where I want it seems to get harder and harder no matter how much I try to do the right things. Hope your headache went away. I deal with them everyday with doing so much computer work. ugh!!

Laurie - I hope you start feeling better.

Sue - Our conversion to the new ERP system got delayed ONCE AGAIN!! Now we are shooting for Dec 1st. Man I just want this over with!!

I won't be on the rest of the weekend. I have to work tomorrow for you year-end physical inventory.

Hi Sam!!

Everyone have a great weekend!!
Take Care!
Brenda

Good afternoon, everyone and Happy Friday!

This morning I did CTX Step and Intervals + Chest. Good times... I'm thinking of doing one of my new Pilates workouts while DS naps. There's one that's a Pilates/yoga fusion that looks refreshing.

Brenda- I have days like that, too. They sometimes seem to come out of nowhere, don't they?

Laurie- I hope you start to feel better over the weekend. Sinus pain is such a bummer :(

Heartymax- I'm hovering right around 144 right now myself these days. I really prefer to be at about 138. I'd like to get rid of those extra few pounds before the holidays. That has less to do with my workouts and more to do with diet, I'm afraid

Susan- You never cease to amaze me with your determination to work through an illness. Maybe you'll scare that cold away!

Hi Sue!

No big plans for me this weekend. Babysitting tomorrow a.m.. I suppose we'll do house stuff as usual. I'm planning on making a lot of my Christmas gifts this year, so I was hoping to buy some supplies and get started on that, too.

Have a relaxing weekend.
