Buff Badgers Week of Oct. 15th

I am ALIVE in case you are wondering I just decided to take an unannounced week off. No checking the forum and no workouts. Tonight is my last night of this class and I spent last week working on my final paper that's due tonight. I finished it up Friday night and emailed it to my professor and got good feedback over the weekend, so I am all set!!

DH enjoyed having his family visit last week. Things were pretty busy with much fun. He and I are both determined to get back in our normal routine.

Today was Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. That last set of 21's for the biceps almost wiped me out.

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to go back and read last week so I hope I didn't miss anything too exciting. :D I have been seeing a lot of info from Xtrain on Facebook so I am excited about it coming out. Gotta stay in my routine so my muscles will be fired up and ready for Xtrain.

Morning Ladies,

Saturday was 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Cadio Kickboxing, and Recovery Upper Body. Sunday was a rest day. This morning was 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Cardio Kickboxing, and Bonus Abs. Had a great weekend even though it was rainy.

Heartymax, Glad to hear that your paper is complete (along with the class), and that it was well done. ;) I too have been seeing all the updates on Xtrain. It will be nice for all of you to get back to a normal routine.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

Friday was Step Blast, just combos 2 and 3 plus the blast.
Saturday was the Triple Tabata premix from To The Max.
Sunday was premix 1 from Yoga Max.

I just finished Cardio Supersets. I was going to do the bonus step section, but I was whipped by the end. I need to start doing planks again. Those plank exercises with the discs still completely slay me. I can. not. complete. them. Makes me mad.

Heartymax- Sounds like good timing to take a week off. I hope you're feeling good. I'm getting more and more excited for XTrain.

Laurie- It was awfully gloomy this weekend, wasn't it? I'm surprised there are still leaves on the trees with all that wind and rain.

My mom got me the upper body Gym Styles for my birthday, so I'm hoping to incorporate those into my week. I've been enjoying my fusion workouts, though, so I'll have to figure out a way to keep those in and still do the heavy lifting.

Ikea was awesome as usual :D Although we forgot one of the main things we went there to get. So... awe shucks, we'll have to go back before too long :p

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Saturday I did Cardio Supersets with the bonus step. Sunday was a rest day. Today I started Mesocycle 3 of STS Disc 25 chest and back. I had pretty good strength in the chest but low back didn't feel real strong with the barbell rows and deadlifts.

Indeed it was a gloomy weekend. Saturday I meet 3 friends for lunch and we visited for a couple of hours and then later in the afternoon an old friend was visiting my mom so DH and I went down there to see him.

I have to take our cat Bandit to the vet this afternoon. He has the symptoms of a UTI. Poor guys looks miserable. I just hope this isn't the beginning of the end of his kidney disease. :(

Heartymax - welcome back!! I hope things start calming down for you and you can get back into the routine of things.

Laurie - I had a nice weekend too despite the rain.

Sam - Gym Style.... what a wonderful b-day present. I'm there with you on those planks. I'm able to do all of them but boy to my shoulders burn. I'm waiting for that day that they don't burn as much. :)

Better get back to work since I have to leave early for the vet appt.

Make it a great day!
Brenda

HI there! Better late than never!:) Saturday was Triple Tabata from both CrossFire and To the Max, then I did this Tony Horton 10mn workout from FaceBook. Sunday was pilates, today was the elliptical and AB Ripper. I simply hated all the rain! I wanted to run but I am sorry that was just too much to run in. Looking forward to going out in the morning.

Took both kids winter coat shopping this weekend. They had great deals out there!:)

Hearty, glad you had a good rest week!

Sam, enjoy your new birthday present!

Brenda, hope you cat gets better soon. How old is it? My childhood dog's name was Bandit (he was a siberian husky)...;)

See you all tomorrow! Susan

Sam----GS is an awesome bday gift!! I have to admit that I had to force myself into a GS rotation to make sure I did chest/triceps. That is one tough workout. Make sure you save up all your energy for that one:eek:

Susan---I am wiped out after one Triple Tabatha---can't imagine adding on another one.

Brenda---hope your cat is okay. As much as I love STS, it has been a while I since I did Meso 3. Those heavy weights in that Meso are just so tiring. It feels good to pump out that kind of "iron" but just totally exhausting.

Laurie---I have noticed that my abs are not as strong so I need to get back to doing my ab work regularly too----find me some great bonus ones.

Today was To The Max minus the short leg section. I love the upperbody core focus. It really gets those obliques good. I skip those push ups though.

Morning Ladies,

This morning was 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Core, and Recovery Total Body.

Sam, LOL about having to go back to IKEA. :D Most of the leaves are off of our trees, since we have black walnut. They tend to drop early, but now I have to go pick up all the walnuts from the front lawn. Not my favorite job. Those dang squirrels end up bringing them back! Nice that you got the GS Upper Bdy!

Brenda, Headed toward the end of your STS rotation. That seems to go fast for us. :D Very nice to be meeting friends on a weekend like we had.

Susan, I was not able to do that 10 min. workout this weekend, what did you think? Glad to hear that the coat purchase was made. WTG on the Tabata work, can't believe that you didn't add on S90D Tabata also. ;)

heartymax, I would love bonus abs too. :D Wish they would just appear when I do an ab workout. I really love workouts that just include ab work, that way I know I get it in.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning. I just finished Crunch Pick Your Spot Pilates, which is a lower body and abs workout. It's probably a beginner/intermediate workout, but my abs felt it plenty! The butt and thighs stuff wasn't as challenging for me, but I was surprised how tight and pulled in everything felt when I stood up after the video was over.

Brenda- Aw, poor Bandit. I hope he's feeling better soon.

Laurie- We have a HUGE maple in front of our house, and it's like a squirrel apartment complex. They dig up the bulbs I try to plant every fall

Susan- We were both doing triple tabata on Saturday... though, of course, you had to go and outdo me by doing twice as much :D

Heartymax- I previewed the chest and triceps one. Crazytown! All the push-ups. Well, I have to get better at them somehow.

Hello Sue! We miss you!

Have a great day, everyone.

Good Afternoon Ladies!

This morning I did Intensity. Haven't done that one since I stopped doing step because of my leg. Leg held out pretty good. I kicked my butt and I loved every minute of it. :D

Bandit is doing a little better. He does have a UTI. Now I have to give him two shots. His insulin and the antibiotic. The medicine should hopefully kick in, in a couple of days. While we had him in there we had them shave some of the nasty tight knots on him that I couldn't get out. We had him knocked out for that, he was not a happy camper.

Susan - Wow!! Triple Tabata from TTM and CF.... you go girl!! You put that in my head now to try sometime. :) I hope you were able to get outside today to run.

Laurie - I can't believe I'm the last Mesocycle. It does go fast. I'll the next three weeks to figure out what I'm going to do next.

Heartymax - I ususally feel very accomplished when I'm in Mesocycle 3. I love that pumped feeling, especially in my arms. I'm very proud of my biceps. ;)

Sam - I still need to find a pilates workout that I like. Those gosh darn squirrels can make quite a mess can't they. Glad we don't have too many of them out by us.

Hi Sue - yes, we miss you!!

Make it a great day!!
Brenda

Hello! Yes! Today I did get in a 4.15 mile run. It was good. That first mile is always the worst then after I warm up I feel great. Will be doing some lower body pilates later.

Sam & Brenda, you might want to try the 10mn Solutions Pilates. They have I think 2 or 3 different ones. I like that they break them down into 10mn sections so you can pick & choose.

Laurie, That Tony workout was pretty good. I likes the core work.

HI Hearty!
Hi Sue!

Have a good evening ladies~ Susan

Susan---glad the weather cleared up so you could get outside and run. Nothing like the good fresh air:D

Brenda---I like the Hiit Lo segment of Intensity. I do the step portion sometimes too but there is one part that bothers my hip I can't remember what move it is.

Sam----I promise you that GS Chest and Triceps will definitely improve your push ups. By the way there are 72 drop push ups alone. Someone has counted them. I can do them when I have been working out and doing push ups consistently even outside of the regular workouts. Otherwise, I do what I can and not worry about it.

Laurie--I know you always love great core workouts. In my other check in one of the ladies is doing HC. I can't remember what it stands for. It some something (H) Conditioning. She is getting really good results from it. Maybe I will have time to go back and look it up for you later. They have just been referring to it lately as HC so know I can't remember what it stands for.

Hi Sue!

This morning was STS Back and Triceps. I really needed this workout. I have been lacking in working the back for the last month. I finished my workout with the stability ball section of Butts and Gutts. My abs are burning.

Morning Ladies,

This morning was 10lb SD Xtreme Yoga/Stretch. I really do love this yoga workout. :)

Sam, Some of those beg/int workouts still do their job even though you probably don't think so at the time. I think these 10lb SD Xtreme workouts are considered int/adv. I always get a great workout from them, because I do my best. LOL about the squirrel apt complex! :D I think that our tree is a condo, because the same family has been there for years. Cami trapped one of the babies once.

Brenda, Glad to hear that Bandit is doing well. I think I did Intensity a couple of times. I don't do step, and I always forget about the Hiit being on there. ;) I have been doing a different instructors workouts every month. Next month is Cathe weight/kickboxing.

Susan, Dang, I should have done that workout this morning. I did have the time. Just have to remember to take the laptop downstairs with me. Great job on the run.

heartymax, Interesting about the workouts, would like to know. ;) WTG on burning out those abs!

Have a wonderful day!

Hi guys,

Ho stands for horizontal conditioning, they are great workouts. I have never seen my abs and arms look like they do since doing them and I have tried everything. Just finished my 1/2 marathon in Ashland. Love that distance.

Laurie, so you are doing kettlebells now. Are you liking them. What weight did you start with.

Heartymax, nice workout. GS chest/tri. is a toughie. Also B&G added on. You are a machine.

Susan, nice job on your running. Sounds like you are liking it.

Brenda, glad your leg is getting better. My knees have been giving me problems lately. Makes it hard to do the workouts you want to do.

Sam, do you like pilates. Nice birthday present. Great music in those workouts, I think.

Hi Sue.

Have a good day.

Good Afternoon Ladies!

This morning was Meso 3 Disc 26 PlyoLegs. Forgot how hard plyolegs can be. My favorite plyo move was in this one, power turns. ;)

Susan - Thanks for the suggestion on the pilates workout. I have seen that one, I think I might have to give that one a try.

Heartymax - Butts & Gutts... I haven't done that one in a super long time. I do love the ab work in that one. I not a huge fan of floor work. I'll have to check out HC, sounds interesting.

Laurie - I like the one instructor a month. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do that as I don't have enough workouts of other instructors. Might have to work on that. ;) Granted is doesn't help any that I'm partial to Cathe's workouts.

Hi Karen - Congrats on the 1/2 marathon. You've peaked my interest on the horizontal training.

Hi Sam & Sue!!

Have a great afternoon!
Brenda

Hello! Today I did HIS from 4DS. That's still my favorite short-on-time workout.

I am VERY intrigued by those Horizontal Conditioning workouts. They intimidate me because people say they are extremely challenging, but I have a weak core, and I hate crunches.... so.... maybe the very easiest one?

Karen! Hi! I'm trying to add a little Pilates into my weeks. My core is terribly weak, and traditional ab work bothers my lower back.

Brenda- Glad to hear Bandit is diagnosed. Sorry you're up to two shots :( LOL over him having to be "out" for being groomed a bit. Boy, do cats hate that!

Heartymax- Ugh. 72! I was thinking of doing the math, but hadn't yet. I'm thinking tomorrow I'll be giving that workout a shot.

Susan- Thanks for the recommendation. I think I have at least one of those on Netflix instant play.

Laurie- It's true. I like to think of myself as an advanced exerciser because I do Cathe, but I'm probably more high-intermediate considering how much I modify Cathe. Not that it matters. As long as I'm working hard. Someday I will buy that Freytag set. My someday list is very long...

I'm off to finish cleaning. If I can get the things I want finished done today, my whole house will officially be (kinda sorta) clean! Meaning everything has a place, including the basement and the attic. No random piles of stuff. I wanted to get it done by my birthday, but a couple weeks late is okay with me! The garage is still kind of a mess, but that's DH's territory :p

Have a great day!

Morning Ladies,

This morning was 10lb SD Xtreme Cardio Kickboxing, Bonus Buns and Bonus Abs.

Karen, Hello! Congrats on the 1/2 marathon. I know exactly which marathon that is! I grew up in Mellen, which is about 20 miles south of Ashland. ;) My parents still live there. I bought a 15# kb, and that seems to be doing what I want it to do. I actually really enjoy doing them. I have heard of Horizontal Conditioning, just never really looked into the threads over at VF. Will have to read more about it when I get the chance. ;) Good to hear from you again.

Brenda, I used to be a single instructor person, but that changed. :D I have gotten to the point where I need the variety just to keep me motivated.

Sam, That is the way I look at exercise also. I don't need to be insane with my workouts as long as I'm doing something I enjoy, and I'm exercising. :D Check out youtube, a lot of Chris Freytag's workouts are on there. This way you can try them out, and see if you would like them. ;) I love the kickboxing one.

Have a wonderful day!

HI there! Sorry no post yesterday. I overslept and the rest of the day was just crazy(so no workout!). Today I was going to run but it was raining so I did Jillian's Shed & Shred. I have not done this one since the very first time and now I remember why! It's tough, but I needed the change.

Hi Karen! Congrats on the 1/2! That is one of my mini-goals. Hope your family is doing well.

Laurie, I did check out Chris on youtube. I think I would like her kickboxing. I decided I am buying myself Insanity for Christmas but I am ordering it early so I can start it in November and it can help me get through the Holidays. Then by my Birthday in January... I should be at my goal! ;)

Sam, way to go on the housework! I always feel so good when everything is in it's place. Even though it doesn't stay that way for long!

Brenda, it took me a long time to branch away from just Cathe. She is so good at what she does. But I see better results when I mix it up with other instructors/ styles.

Have a great day ladies. Looks like a dreary Thursday out there!
~Susan

Good Morning,

Did a 5 1/2 mile run this am. then raked some leaves. Yesterday was Lauren Brooks Kettlebell 1. Haven't done kettlebells in a long time. Sandra the instructor of Horizontal Conditioning is very sweet. When I first did them I watched when I just couldn't do anymore, gradually I just keep trying to do more and it got so I could do them with her--sort of--work in progress. Either way I am seeing results even if I can't do them all.

Susan, haven' done that Jillian workout yet even though I've had it forever. If a 1/2 marathon is a mini goal what is your big goal? Insanity, I am not sure my knees could take that anymore.

Laurie, you should do it next year. I didn't know you lived up in that area when you were growing up. Mary has clips of some of the volumes of HorCo on her website.

Sam, did you get your house cleaned? I did HIS once and it was fun, really liked the music, I'll have to pull that one out again.

Brenda, those plyo workouts from STS are some of my favorites. I can't say my favorite would be the power turns. Good for you.\

Hi Sue.

Off to do some more leaves.

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

This morning I decided to put in Afterburn. My nose was all stuffed up when I woke this morning so made sure I put some eucalyptus under my nose to open things up. I'm usually stuffed up when I get up in the morning but this morning was worse than normal. Went through lots of kleenex. :)

Sam - I leave the garage for DH as well majority of the time :) Don't let all those push-ups in GS scare you. Go in with the thought process you're going to do as many as you can and work from there. I recall two times I was able to do all those push ups on my toes other wise I end up dropping to my knees to finish them. The day I was able to do all of them, I felt very accomplished.

Laurie - I have some of Amy Bento's stuff but not enough to cover an entire month. I would eventually like to expand my collection to other instructors. I agree variety is good and each instructor has their own training technique.

Susan - I did Insanity once and unfortunately got burnt out on it. It was too repetitive for me. Definitely tough workouts. I like Shaun T as an instructor. I heard Aslyum was supposed to be better than Insanity. I never checked it out though.

Karen - I would also like to try some kettlebell workouts. I never tried any. I actually hate power turns. I'm hoping that if I say they are my favorite, maybe I'll start liking them... Not!! :D

Hi Sue- I hope you are doing well. Come back to visit us. :)

Make it a great day!!
Brenda

Karen---Thanks for info about HC. It definitely sounds tough. I haven't checked it out or read about it online. I may try to check out their website soon. I love hearing about the great results people are getting.

Sam---definitely don't let those push ups scare you. For a long time,I avoided GS C/T because of that. Then I finally made of my mind to do what I can---with whatever modifications that I need so it doesn't even bother me anymore. Even though I can do push ups on my toes now---doesn't mean that everytime I do C/T that I can pump all of them out on my toes.

Susan/Laurie----I do admire that you enjoy some other instructors. I have a couple of JM workouts but Jillian is just not a FAV. She is good for a change every now and then but I appreciate the variety Cathe offers and I know that I can always count on them to give me results and keep me motivated.

Brenda---there is no way I could do AfterBurn with any degree of illness. You are a champ!

DS was injured in the football game yesterday. He recovered a fumble and came up with an injury. DH took him to urgent care last night and he has 2 broken bones in his hand. I am taking back this morning for his cast. The season is almost over and I know he is going to be so sad to miss the last couple of games.

This morning was STS legs. Great workout. I feel good.
