Buff Badgers Week of June11

Saturday was 45 minute on the elliptical. I didn't feel well after church yesterday. I was having hot flashes and just didn't seem to feel well so I slept after church. Not 100% this morning so I slept in from exercising. I just wanted to get my post in for the day. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I had breakfast on Saturday with a friend. We have been so busy lately and we just hadn't seen each other or talked on the phone much all this year so we decided to meet for breakfast and catch up.

Sam--I saw your post from Friday. congrats to your DH and your family must be very excited.

Good morning! I had a really nice time over DH's big birthday weekend. He decided that what he wanted for his birthday was to finally get smartphones, so that's what we did Saturday. After that, we went out with his mom for dinner at Bonefish. Yesterday we had pizza (Jimmy's Grotto in Waukesha! Yummers!) at my parents' house. It was so delicious, but I've got a bit of a food hangover today :p

I finally got back into working out, after three weeks of not getting many workouts in at all.

Saturday was Low Impact Challenge express premix 1.
Sunday was Athletic Training (with many mods and breaks..whew! It's going to take me a couple weeks to get back into shape!)

This morning my tummy wasn't feeling so hot from the aforementioned pizza, so all I did was the combos only premix from Imax 3

Heartymax and Susan- Thanks for the well wishes! DH is very happy!

If the rest of you missed it, DH found out he got the job he applied for. :) He probably won't be starting until sometime in August, but it works out great because we can take our normal vacations without having to worry about him not having "earned" vacation time yet.

It feels like the official beginning of my stay-at-home-mom-hood this week since I have no meetings. Although, I do have to go in at some point to get my room completely cleaned out.

Have a great day, everyone!

Heartymax - I'm glad you're taking a little time off. Hope you're feeling better.

Sam - Congrats to DH on his new job! Never had pizza from Jimmy's. They have good food but definitely not the kind you want to have all the time. Happy "Stay at Home Week"! Enjoy! I sometimes regret not staying home with the kids but financially it would have been hard.

Brenda - To answer your question from last week, yes, this is my first summer student. We've had other summer students in our department but they reported to someone else. He's here specifically to work on my project so my boss is letting me handle his timesheet and making sure he keeps busy.

On Saturday I did Couch to 5K Week 2 Day 3 + Ellen Barrett Fat Burning Fusion on my iPad. The EB workout was FREE and it really made me sweat although the temperature upstairs where I don't normally workout might have had something to do with it. I liked it and will try it again. On Sunday I did STS Disc 13 Chest, Shoulders, Triceps. Ow! My chest is very sore today. Didn't sleep well last night so nothing yet today.

Another busy week but I'll try to be better about checking in.

Hi there! Busy weekend but I got a lot done around the house. Saturday I went for a 60mn bike ride. I really rode hard and fast and now I know why people like spin classes so much! It's a workout! My booty and inner thighs are still a little tender! Sunday I mowed the lawn, walked with the dog for 45mn and did some pilates. Today I did Cardio Challenge from Supreme 90. My achilles is still bothering me but getting a bit better everyday.

Heartymax, hope you feel better after a good rest!

Sam, good job starting to get those workouts back in and enjoy you're first official week of stay-at-home Mommydome! :)

Sue, I have seen Ellen's workouts but wondered how tough they were. I always dread trying someone new cause I don't want to be disappointed! At least it was free for you!:)

Hi Laurie!
Hi Brenda!

Have a good night~ Susan

Good Evening!!

The last few days have been extremely busy. I swear I'm a sucker for self-punishment. My Friday off consisted of vacuuming and steam cleaning my carpet, cleaning my parents house and started the weeding in my flower beds. Saturday's workout was X-Factor last day of Week 6 and LIS Bonus Step portion. The rest of the day consisted of cleaning up and repotting the 5 pots on my patio that a raccoon decided to destroy. My DH came home from for about a day so we met for lunch and while he did more studying I continued with my weeding and laundry. Sunday I got DH all packed up again and he headed back out for the week mid-morning. Then I got this insane idea that I wanted to try and get mulch down by all of our landscaping, which we have enough. My nephew was kind enough pick it up for me. I got 10 yards of mulch. I think on Sunday I moved at least about 4 yards of it. My body got to the point where it was telling me to stop, so I listened and did. I wanted to surprise my DH and have all the mulch down before he gets home on Saturday afternoon. Tonight I moved mulch for a little over an hour and then I had to call it quits and eat dinner and get things ready for work tomorrow. I'll do a little each night and see how far I get. I say I'm about half done. The areas that are done look so nice now. Today was the start of Week 7 of the X-Factor and then I added 4 rounds from Cardio Super Sets on at the end.

Heartymax - I hope you're feeling better, you did the right thing by listening to your body and resting..... I'm not looking forward to those hot flashes.

Sam - Congrats to DH on the job!! That is awesome!! Happy B-day to him as well. Glad to hear your getting back into those workouts. Enjoy your first week of stay-at-home-mom hood. That's great that it won't affect your vacation in July.

Sue - great job on the workouts! Have fun keeping your summer student busy. It's nice to have them but in the same token it can make things a little more hectic with showing them what needs to be done and making sure they are kept busy. If you have a big project going on that should make things easier, I hope. We are down to 16 days before we convert over to our new ERP system. Things are absolutely out of control at work.

Susan - sorry to hear your achilles is still bothering you, but glad to hear your still taking it easy on the workouts and doing other things besides running.

Hi Laurie!!

Everyone have a great night!!

I think lifting those heavy weights in Meso 2 has my body drained. I don't plan to spend the full week of recovery relaxing especially since I leave for vacation in 12 days. But I do need a few days off. My body is exhausted. I hope to get back at it in a day or do.

Brenda- you are putting your Cathe muscles to good use with moving mulch and all the other lawn work you ate doing.

Sam- yesterday was the last day for students. How awful to have them come back on a Monday.

Hi Susan, Sue and Laurie.

Oh yeah --- I ordered the Cathe tshirt with all the catch phrases. Looking forward to receiving it.

Morning Ladies,

Having a great time in FL, and Universal Studios is great. Seems that this year is the 100th Anniversary for Universal so they had a great light show. The Harry Potter ride is something that I would never have though would be fun since I'm not a huge ride fan. But that ride was great. We saw Victorious in concert on Saturday, so the youngest was happy. Now we all know that the singers on that show can acturally sing. :D This has been a great trip for the older children, youngest got a hug from Captain America! Right now we are vegging and still have not decided on what we would like to do today, but I thing that we have been going steady for three days. Guess we need a little break. Lot's of walking, and it is pretty hot. Interesting evening thunderstorms also. Well I'm going to go get a shower so I'm ready when we actually decided what we want to do today. :)

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Heartymax - Yep Cathe has prepped us well for all the physical labor we do. I almost preferred Meso 2 more than Meso 3. Meso 3 you go way heavier but I have a hard time with the longer rests in between.

Laurie - Glad to hear you and your family are having a good time in Florida. I've been to Universal Studio once. I think it was 1994. Haven't been back to Florida since. Would like to get back there some day to vacation.

Today I was in the mood for Kick, Punch, and Crunch. I skipped the crunch part since X-factor has pretty good abs exercises. I don't think I'll ever get tired of that workout. I wish Cathe would do another one along those same lines.

Going to sit out in the sun and eat my lunch.

Hi Sam, Sue, and Susan!!

Enjoy the rest of the day!!
Brenda

Hi ladies!

This morning I did the pyramid up premix of PUB. I had to skip the abs (oh darn! ;)) because I was a bit short on time, but I liked the premix a lot. I felt like I really got the job done in a very short amount of time.

Laurie- Glad to hear you're having a fun time! I'm so jealous you got to see the Harry Potter stuff. I'm quite the fan :D Can't say I'm as jealous of the Victorious concert ;), but I'm glad your youngest got a kick out of it.

Brenda- My goodness. You are a machine, woman! Putting mulch down is pretty tough work. You must sleep very, very well.

Susan- You're doing great at workout out despite your achilles problem. You'll be happy you rested it. I rested my shoulder much longer than I intended to, but it felt good as new this morning with PUB, so it was worth it, I guess. It's encouraging that you're feeling improvement every day.

Sue- Now that I have a smartphone and DH is home when I work out, I was thinking of giving couch to 5k a try again. I tried a long time ago, but at the time the only way I could time myself was to take a stopwatch with me, which was a real pain, and I didn't get past the first week. I'm also in much better shape now, and I think I could be much more successful. I have to get either a waist or arm band for my phone first... Anyway, how are you liking it this time around?

Heartymax- That is very strange to have them come back for one Monday  I hope your muscles recover soon. Someday I will do STS and will be able to commiserate!

I've been getting some serious cleaning and organization done, but it's a sober reminder of how dirty and disorganized our house actually has been! Yuck! Anyway, this SAHM gig is exhausting! ;)

Have a great day, everyone!

HI there! Overslept today since the kids had me up until after 1am goofing off in the living room! Half the time they act like they want to murder each other but last night they were laughing and carrying on. DS wanted to sleep out there and DD kept going out and messing around with him. So when 4:30 came around, I was not getting up! I took an active rest day, walked for 35mn and did 35mn of pilates.

I did start DD on pilates this evening. Let's just say, I have my work cut out for me! I was laughing so hard. She is so uncoordinated, at least for now!

Laurie, I forgot you were in Florida! Hope you have a wonderful time!:)

Heartymax, enjoy the rest. Your body will thank you!:)

Sam, glad your shoulder is feeling strong!

Hi Sue!

Brenda, KPC is one of my favorites!

See you tomorrow! Susan

Susan---it feels great to see the kids getting along and just really enjoying each other. As you said, mine argue here and there and we treasure those "we can't live without each other" moments.

Sam---Which premix did you do----the pyramid down premix is my favorite of PUB. I think that is my primary way of using that DVD. You are right----you can get a great workout in such a short time. This is theboring time of the year for me-----closing out records for the end of the school year.

Brenda--you seem to be enjoying the sunny lunches quite a bit. One of the perks of this time of the year.

Laurie---glad your family is having a blast. We have been to Disney but not to Universal Studios. It is definitely on the wish list to return and I think Universal will be preferred by my kids since they are older now. DS14 was 7 when we went took an Orlando vacation.

Sue---Are your triceps feeling shaky????

My body has enjoyed those 3 days of rest. I got up this morning and did 40 minutes on the ellipitcal.

Good evening, ladies.

I was going to check in earlier today, but I wanted to wait and see if I could get in a workout. I didn't... but I did reorganize the cabinets in the kitchen! I was up late yesterday at my MIL's house. Her other son, his wife, and my niece were in town. I hadn't met my niece yet since they live in Texas. She's such a cutie! One of those roly-poly babies with huge cheeks and huge eyes. Adorable!

Heartymax- I did the pyramid up premix. I'll try the pyramid down the next time. Do you think you can go heavier with the pyramid down?

Susan- Sounds like a fun time with the kids last night. I can't wait to have little moments like that when my kids get older (guess I better work on having a second, huh? :p)

I have a nice evening planned. I'm going out for drinks with a friend. But, because I have a nice evening planned, I may not get up for my workout in the morning. If not, I'll try to fit something in later in the day.

Have a nice night!

Good Evening!!

This morning was X-Factor wk 7 and as an add on I did 21 min of Athletic Training. I will be kind of glad when I'm done with the X-Factor so I can get back to lifting weights. I really miss it.

Heartymax - Glad to hear you are feeling better. Yes, I've very much have been enjoying those sunny lunches. Sat outside again today, even though it was a little cooler. Things have been so hectic at work, it's just nice to get away from my desk for a little while.

Sam - Sounds like you've been getting lots done since being a SAHM. Sounds like you're enjoying it. PUB.... love that workout... oh.. I miss my weights. With moving mulch every night.. you'd think I'd sleep really well. I haven't been sleeping good the last 1-1/2 weeks. I'm sure that is partly due to my DH not being home and also because my knees, hips, and low back are achey after moving mulch. I keep waking up because I'm end up moving in a position where something starts hurting.

Susan - that must be fun working with DD on pilates. I remember when I first started Cathe and how uncoordinated I felt on certain exercises. I never thought I was going to feel coordinated or somewhat graceful doing toe taps and know it's one of my favorites.

Hi Sue!!
Hi Laurie!!

Everyone have a great night and sleep tight!!
Brenda

Hi Ladies! Today I woke up and got on the elliptical for 45mn. I then worked on my planks.

Heartymax, so glad you are enjoying your new elliptical! :)

Sam, your evening sounds like so much fun! Hope you enjoyed yourself!

Brenda, DD was funny when she said her tummy was sore this morning. ;) I keep watching the new info-mercial about the MMA Kickboxing 90 thing. Looks like fun but I want my new Cathe DVD's!!

Have a good night ladies! Susan

This morning was 45 minutes on the elliptical. I wanted to do High Reps but the boys were in my workout space and I didn't want to wake them up. Since this is their first week out of school, I am trying to let them really enjoy it.

Sam---yes, I can lift heavier with PUB when I do the pyramid down premix.

Susan---funny about your DD abs being sore today.

Hi Laurie, Brenda and Sue.

Hi, guys! Sorry to be so bad about checking in. Things will calm down next week when the kids are both gone. They leave Saturday morning at 4:30 a.m. to go on a Mission Trip so NO KIDS for 9 whole days! I'm sure I'll miss them tons but right now I'm really looking forward to the peace and quiet.

I did Couch to 5K Week 3 Day 1 on Tuesday. It's been a bad week for working out. Too tired in the morning to workout and no time at night. I'm off this afternoon to take DD to the ENT Dr. for her nosebleeds. I should do Disc 14 Legs but I really want to take a nap. It's TTOTM so maybe that's why I'm so tired.

Sam - The Couch to 5K program I have starts out really easy. Week 3 is still pretty easy. You'd definitely need to do other cardio with it. (I would have if it hadn't been so crazy these last few weeks.) I like that it talks to me so I don't have to look at the phone like a stopwatch. It says "Start running" when it's time to run and "Slow down and walk" when it's time to walk. For each workout it shows the total exercise time and the breakdown for each segment. For example,

5 min. warmup (walk)
1.5 min. run + 1.5 min. walk
2.5 min. run + 2.5 min. walk (2 times)
1.5 min. run + 1.5 min. walk
5 min. cooldown (walk)
Total 26 min.
This is Week 3, Day 1

By the end of 8 weeks:
5 min. warmup (walk)
35 min. run
5 min. cooldown (walk)

Well, I guess I better decide if I'm working out or not. Have a nice weekend everyone in case I don't have time to checkin tomorrow.

Good afternoon, ladies.

I had a great time with my friend last night, but today is the first day of TTOM and I am just drained of all my energy.

Sue- Thanks for the details. I do remember that Week One started out pretty easy. Running is very difficult for me though, so it's possible that if I walked fast enough, I'd probably be okay with it for cardio. I think I'm going to give it a try when I can.

Heartymax- I figured. Since your muscles are "fresh" before you pick up your heaviest weight. Maybe I could even go up an increment. I can't believe how heavy Cathe goes for biceps in that one.

Hello Brenda! Hello Susan!

Hi Laure! I hope you're still having fun :)

I have presents to wrap, beans to simmer, and a grocery list to write. Blech. Have a great evening everyone. Hopefully I will have more energy tomorrow.

Hello! This morning was my upper body strength + ab work. Felt good!:)

Sue, I sure hope you enjoy the quiet time. I don't know what I would do without any kids for 9 whole days. Sounds like a slice of heaven to me!
Hope you got some rest today.

Sam, sounds like you and Sue are in the same boat. I remember when I used to be that way. Since I switched to the pill a year ago, I have not had my cycle. And I am not complaining!

Enjoy your evenings ladies! At least the weekend is almost here!

~ Susan

I'm Back! This morning was Supreme 90 Tabata. Have not done this one in a while and boy did I feel it! Real wake up call! Glad that is over with!

No big plans for the weekend. Hopefully just a nice quiet couple days...

Hope you all enjoy it and wish your DH's a Happy Father's Day!

~ Susan

Good afternoon. Yay! It's Friday!

I'm feeling much better today. I did CTX All Step (just the cardio) this morning.

I'm stuck decorating a cake again. I've only decorated two cakes in my life, but apparently I've become the resident cake-decorator in the family  This one is for my niece's first birthday, and my MIL seems to have overestimated my level of experience based on what she's asked for. Could be interesting.

Sunday we're going to Green Bay for a "Day with Thomas the Tank Engine". DS doesn't know about it yet. He's going to freak out!

Have a great weekend, everybody, and happy Father's Day to the various fathers in your lives.
