Buff Badgers Week of June 18

Hi, Sam! And everyone else, too!

Last week was not a good workout week. Took 3 rest days because I was either too busy or too tired to workout. This week will be much better. Here's what I did:

Saturday - Couch to 5K Week 3 Day 2
Sunday - Couch to 5K Week 3 Day 3 + STS Disc 15 Back and Biceps
Monday - STS Disc 16 Chest and Shoulders; will do Triceps tonight

DD found out on Friday that she made the Academic Decathlon team. You have to be recommended by a teacher or current member, take a test and do an interview. She tried out last year and didn't make it. Our school has a very good ACADEC team so it's really an honor. So proud of her but I have mixed emotions because I'm not sure if it's a good idea with her homework issues. We're working on that this summer so hopefully next year is better.

DH and I are getting a lot done around the house. The kids sent a text to DH for Father's Day which was very sweet.

Afternoon Ladies,

Well back to work for me today, and of course super busy. I got in TaeBo Cardio Explosion on Sunday, and this morning was S90D Tabata Inferno. Will get in weights after work.

All I can say is if you have a chance to get to Universal Studios you have to go, that Harry Potter ride is worth the price! I think taking older children is also much better.;) Our time spent at the museum at Daytona International Speedway was fun also. Got to go onto the track, and walk up the 18 deg banking at the start finish line, driver meeting room, press box and of course going to the winners circle. Best part of that trip was spending only $20 to get a complete package of all of us standing right by the #17 car! Of course we couldn't touch it, but could take all the pictures we wanted to. We didn't go to the beach in Daytona, because it started to pour right when we where leaving. Instead we went on a day trip to Clearwater, and took advantage of the warm Gulf of Mexico water and the white sandy beaches. The whole family had a blast. :D

Sue, WTG on the workouts! I think that C25K works really well with the STS workouts. Congrats to your DD on her achievement. Hope this next year works out better for you and your DD. I took off a whole week, so don't feel bad about missing out on those workouts. ;)

Hi Sam!

Talk Later!

Hello again! No workouts this weekend as I was insanely busy the whole time.

Friday I decorated that cake for about five hours. Ugh. I thought I'd never want to see buttercream again, but now I have an urge to make cute cupcakes just for fun, not for someone else's party. Anyway, I think it turned out very well. My MIL was quite pleased with it.

Saturday was the party, which was exhausting. My niece is adorable :) After the party I bit the bullet and went swimsuit shopping. I bought an incredibly boring tank suit, but at least I'm not falling out of it.

Yesterday we took DS to Green Bay for the "Day Out with Thomas" at the National Railroad Museum. It was a ton of fun, and DH felt like it was the perfect thing to do on Father's day. After that, we went to my parents' for a Father's Day dinner.

While in Green Bay, DS used the potty. In public restrooms! The whole day! We couldn't believe it, so we tried to keep it up all afternoon and evening. Then, at about 9 p.m. he did #2 in the potty! We always said when he did it that we'd take him to the store so he could pick a toy no matter what time it was. Well, there we were at WalMart at 10 p.m. buying a Buzz Lightyear (and more underpants) :D

I'm so proud of him! He's been diaperless all day today and has only had one accident, which he thoroughly hated, so I'm hoping it doesn't happen again.

No workout for me yet today. I was so tired from the weekend that I let myself sleep in this morning. I might do a little something later, or I might not ;)

Laurie- Sounds like you had a great time! DH and I joke that we better start saving for a Disney World trip with DS and any future children. Sounds like we better throw Universal in for when they get a bit older.

Sue- I've still been struggling with getting workouts in. I'm trying to be happy with four times a week, but I don't feel as good as when I'm working out more. Congrats to your DD! Maybe this will motivate her a bit in other areas.

Have a great day!

Today was High Reps! Saturday was 45 minutes on elliptical.

Sue- what an academic honor for your daughter.

Sam- you are becoming the family baker:)

Laurie- glad you had fun on vacation. I leave on Sunday and can't wait.

Good Evening Ladies!!

Friday night I finished my mulching job, took me until 9'ish but I got it done... YEAH!!!! :D We still have a small portion to do around the house but I got the majority of it done where it's really visible. DH came home on Saturday afternoon and I was kind of bummed because he didn't notice it when he pulled in the driveway. He asked what his surprise was and I had him look out our bedroom window to see if he noticed anything. Didn't take him too long and he noticed it and was pleasantly surprised. He couldn't believe I moved 10 yards of mulch by myself. He said it was a very nice surprise.

Saturday morning I did Amy Bento's CIA Hi-Lo Knockout. That is such a fun workout. I love the music in this workout. Saturday afternoon we had a graduation party and then Sunday we did the father's day thing. My body appreciated the low key weekend.

Today I started the last week of X-Factor and added on LIS bonus step portion. Three more X-Factor workouts... I will be glad when I'm done with it. Looking forward to getting back to some weight workouts.

I had my annual doc visit today. I had gone in on Saturday for blood work so I got the results today. My total cholesterol was 218. :( Tri's were 45, HDL was 90, LDL was 119. Because my Tri's and HDL were good, she was too concerned that my overall # was over 200. I was frustrated because I try so hard to do things right between working out and eating pretty healthy. My doc. very kindly reminded me that I have the genetic factor I'm dealing with as well. Blood sugar is an issue in my family as well and thankfully mine was still good.

Sue - You did a great job on the workouts. Don't beat yourself for not working out more, you had a lot going on. Congrats to DD.. that is awesome!! :D

Laurie - Welcome back. I'm glad you guys had a great time in Florida. Bet it felt good getting back into the workouts after a week.

Sam - I'm going to start calling you Susie homemaker. Great job on the cake. So if I need a cake baked and decorated, can I hire you. :) Glad you had fun in Green Bay and yeah for DS for using the big potty!!

Heartymax - great job on the workout!!

Everyone have a great night and keep cool!
Brenda

Hi ladies!

Saturday was a 60mn bike, Sunday was a very brisk 45mn walk and some pilates. Today I over slept and right now am going to get to my lower body workout.

Busy week here. Everyday there is "extra" stuff to do. This weekend we head up north to spread my brothers ashes over his favorite fishing spot with the rest of my family and very close friends.

Sam, I am so proud of your little guy! I remember with our son it happened kind of like that. All the sudden he just decided to do it. What a relief!:D

Sue, again, I always say a little exercise is better than no exercise at all. When you are as busy as you are, take pride in knowing you try and are not just giving up! Congrats to your DD! My DD also says it is her new goal to really crack down on her homework next year. Hopefully it will happen!

Laurie, sounds like fun was had by all! :D Are you happy to be home?

Heartymax, I love High Reps! Where is your vacation spot?

See you tomorrow!
Susan

I'm back! This morning I did Cathe's Intensity: Hi-Impact Hiit (2 times through) followed by the bonus bootcamp.

Boy, is it muggy out already! Hope we get some more rain...

Have a great day and stay cool! Susan

Good morning! I did the Express Premix of Cardio Supersets that just has you doing the first four intervals. It was fast and fun, and I felt worked out. I wish I could work out longer, but the summer insomnia has kicked in, and I'm having trouble getting up when I need to to get a full hour in.

DS is being a bit more resistant today. I'm trying to keep it positive. I feel like I'm trapped in the house till he gets the hang of it :)

Brenda- Yay! You probably feel about mulch the same way that I felt about buttercream.

Susan- I hope you can find a little time to relax this week, especially with something so emotional coming up at the end. I can't believe the workout you did this morning. Good gracious.

Heartymax- You're in a hurry, but I can tell you're excited about your vacation!

Have a great day everyone. If I think DS can stay dry, I'm going to take him to my mom's today to pick cherries. She's got a bumper crop this year, and I'm slightly obsessed with sour cherries. I like pie, crumble, etc... but I even like to eat them completely plain. Yum!!!

Morning Ladies,

No workout last night, forgot that we have church on Monday nights now. This morning was 4DS Back, Biceps, Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. I did the three day split premixes that Cathe put on the step workout disc. The back & bicep workout was 25 min. and CST was 31 min., they both are done in superset form. Loved it! :D Going to keep that in my rotation for the next four weeks. ;) Would like to get another workout in after work, since my youngest is going to her besties house for the night. ;)

Sam, Great job on the cake, my SIL loves making different cupcakes. I love tasting them. :D Congrats to your DS that is a big accomplishment, and hope he continues! We now have done both Disney and Universal, and my oldest said that we should save for Disney again for when we have grandchildren. :D That is great that you Mom has cherries, heard that Door County's crop is bad.

heartymax, I new that you where going on vacation soon, just didn't know when that was. So nice to get away from home for a while, even if the vacation is busy. ;)

Brenda, WTG on moving that amount of mulch, you really are the energizer bunny! Dang on the cholesteral number. :( Wow you are on your last week of X-Factor, that is great. So overall how did you like the workouts?

Susan, You stay cool also, it was muggy like this in FL so I'm really not having a problem with this weather. I keep wondering why people are complaining. :D If you can believe it, FL was worse than what we have right now. I'm glad to be home, but when DH and I retire we might be spending some time down in that area. It sure was nice, even with the humidity at 90%. ;)

Have a great day!

Brenda - You moved 10 yards of mulch by yourself?!!! Wow! I'm impressed. Your cholesterol numbers don't sound too bad but I understand you feeling like they should be better when you eat right and exercise. My dad had the genetic thing when it came to cholesterol as well. He watched his diet, was never overweight and had a very physical job so he never needed to exercise until he retired and then he took up bicycling. Have you tried oatmeal? I swear by it. Congratulations on finishing up Weider X Factor. When is the big ERP implementation Go Live? Do you have to work extra hours?

Susan - I'm sure your brother will be with you in spirit this weekend. You're right about some exercise being better than none at all.

Laurie - Hope you had fun in Florida! A good friend at work is coming back from Universal today. We went a couple of years ago before HP opened but I believe the Harry Potter ride is the old Dueling Dragons coaster which was a lot of fun. (Or is HP ride not a coaster?) Did you do Rip Ride Rockit? My kids loved that one. Definitely more fun for teenagers than Disney.

Sam - So now you're Cake Boss, eh? LOL You'll have to start charging so you aren't baking someone a cake every week (unless you want to, of course). Good luck with DS and potty training today.

Heartymax - Have a great time on your trip!

Didn't do triceps last night because my biceps and back were sore. I'll do them tonight. Did Couch to 5K Week 4 Day 1 this morning. It was muggy this morning but cooler than on Sunday so it felt good to be outside.

Good Afternoon ladies!!

This morning I did an hour on the elliptical wiht Cardio Coach 7. I was sweating like crazy.

Susan - WTG on the workouts. Intensity is tough but I love it!! I hope things go well for you this weekend. I'm sure it'll be hard spreading your brother's ashes. My thoughts are with you.

Heartymax - I love BM2 cardio.. it's one of my fav.

Sam - Hopefully DS can stay dry so you can go cherry picking.

Laurie - Awesome job on the workouts!! Overall I liked X-Factor. Like any workout there are some exercises you hate (like one legged burpees). I don't know that I'd do it again 8 weeks straight but I'll probably use it on and off for something different to do.

Hi Sue!!

Enjoy the rest of your afternoon and stay cool!
Brenda

Hi Sue - just missed you. I eat oatmeal every morning and have for years. I've been putting in 10 hr days for a long time and I'm sure next week is going to be more. June 30 and July 1st is the big ERP conversion. I'm dreading it.

Take Care!

Dang on the oatmeal! I thought it might help. Ugh on the 10 hour days. I know how draining that can be. Are you going Big Bang (all at once) or only a few applications or locations at once? Big Bang worked for us in '97 but to do so now would be a nightmare - that is, for my company because we've added so many interfaces. I hope it goes smoothly for you and the hours aren't too long.

Got a text from DS that his resident (the lady whose home they are fixing up) is the nicest lady ever! DD says she's making lots of friends and people think she's funny.

Time to stop stalling and go do triceps. Good night!

Good morning! Today was the elliptical followed by ab work. :)

Sam, you gave me an idea. I have never done any of the pre-mixes from Cardio SUpersets yet. Have to look them over again. Hope DS continues to improve on the potty!;)

Brenda, an hour on the elliptical is great. Is it pretty easy to use Cardio Coach with an elliptical?

Laurie, my friend lives in Florida, not too far from Orlando and she has a love/hate relationship with it!

Sue, great job getting out there in the morning for your training!:D I cannot wait til my achillies is back to normal. Today it feels really good so maybe I am getting closer!

Have a great day ladies! A least it's hump day!

Susan

Susan---now that boys are out of school, I don't have to get up nearly as early to get in my workout so you are beating me to the post:D. Trust me, it feels good to sleep until 6 AM. This is my last week at work, then it is vacation and off for 5 weeks before returning to work. I normally don't sleep too late then either so I anticipate starting my workout between 6 and 6:30 most days all summer.

Brenda---I have only been able to get in 60 minutes on the elliptical once. I am about wiped out at 45 to 50 minutes.

Laurie---We have a 5:45 AM flight on Sunday morning---so we will be up extremely early to get to the airport. I started packing over the weekend and still have a lot of stuff to do. Gotta get the house clean before we leave. I hate returning from vacation to a junky house.

Sam---Kuddos to your little guy for doing such a great job! Kids are always some proud of themselves for potty accomplishments. I love the smiles on their faces for that.

Sue--glad your kids are enjoying it.

Today was Muscle Max and I rolled through those push ups amazingly. :D Love those leg presses with the band too. One of my favorites---they really get in there.

Gotta run. Have a great day ladies.

Morning Ladies,

I ended up pulling weeds last night instead of doing a workout. Guess that weeds are the only thing that likes not have water! This morning I did Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit, have not attempted an Insanity workout in quite a while. It felt great, but I'm not at the same level I was the last time I did this rotation. Not a big deal for me though. :D

Sue, The dueling dragon ride is still there, but the HP ride is something else. They use IMAX and a 4 seat sideway coaster for the ride. It really is quite the experience. ;) Yes we did go on the rocket, that one was fun also. WTG on the running.

Brenda, I don't think that I will ever do those Weider workouts in that rotation format again, but will be using them for a good 30 min. workout. I think they will be good as back to back workouts also.

Susan, Oh the roads down in FL are horrible, or should I say the drivers. Maybe it was all us out of towners, but I have never seen such horrible driving. I thought people of IL drove bad!

heartymax, That is an early check in time! I thought we would have problems at the FL airport, but the check in process was better than in Milwaukee. I don't know how we managed to go though the x-ray scanner at both airports.

Have a great day!

Good morning! I just finished the Pyramid Down Premix from PUB. Thank you, Heartymax, for suggesting it. I was able to go heavier for a couple of the exercises.

I ended up being stuck in the house all day yesterday with DS. I just didn't trust him to stay dry if we went out. I was going completely stir-crazy, so I went to the mall as soon as dinner was over. Didn't buy anything, but it was nice to get out of the house and walk around.

Brenda- Dang on the numbers not being where you want them. It would be so nice if those genetics didn't play such a big factor. I've got all kinds of nasty stuff in my family I'll be working to prevent.

Susan- My favorite Cardio Supersets premix is the long one that includes the bonus step at the end. Maybe someday I'll have time to do it again

Laurie- I have never tried those 4DS premixes. I'll have to give them a shot. They sound like just the right length for me right now. I was thinking of getting one of the KCM 30MTF videos because of my limited time lately, but it would be nice to work with what I have.

Sue- I wouldn't say I'm the Cake Boss. Maybe Cake Junior Assistant ;) My SIL and I were going to take a decorating class this summer. I should look into it. Maybe then I'd be a little more calm about it when someone asks. :p

Have a great day and keep cool, everyone.

Laurie - That HP ride sounds awesome! Okay, I have an excuse to go back there. :D I'll bet weed pulling gave you a workout in that heat last night.

Susan - Jogging and walking doesn't bother my achilles so maybe I'm weird. Anything on the toes like ricochets or 1 legged genie hops hurts though. Hang in there! I think icing helps.

Sam - Have you ever seen this cooking/baking blog called Annie's Eats | Making your days taste better. She makes lots of cakes and cupcakes along with everything else but the pictures alone will inspire you.

Heartymax - Good job on the pushups in MM. That's something I like about Meso 2 - no pushups! The countdown is on for you for vacation! Hope you're doing something fun.

Hi, Brenda! (probably posting about the same time)

Did triceps from STS Disc 16 last night (finishing up from Monday) and a Barry's Bootcamp 20 min. cardio. Forgot how tough those BBC cardios are.

This morning was STS Disc 17 Legs. Hope I'm not as sore as I was last week after leg day.

Has anyone seen the clip from Crossfire? I thought it looked good but I'm definitely starting out with a very low tension band during those Firewalker drills! That is, if I order them which it looks like I probably will.
