Buff Badgers Week of July 25th

Had a great weekend.....fell of the good eating wagon yesterday. I had dinner with some friends at Maggiano's.....family style. If you have ever been there before, you know what I am talking about. The food was delicious but I definitely can't eat like that anytime soon. Carbs will be limited this week. I gave my leg a rest on Friday and Saturday. I did Body Max cardio premix followed by a segment of Abs on Sunday. I also decided to start the 100 push up challenge again. I started it last September ----on my knees---didn't finish of course, but did improve my strength-----so I figured I would take the challenge again and do the push ups on my toes. If I can get to 25 consecutive on my toes, I will be doing good. I will take it one week at a time and see how it goes. This morning was Drill Max cardio blast followed by Slow and Heavy shoulders.

I broke down and purchased the new workouts before the pre-sale ended. I also purchased the STS total body workout.

Laurie---I hope you had a great vacation last week.

Sam-- I forgot to tell you that I love the avatar pic. Your puppy is cute.

Good Monday Morning,Ladies! My weekend was pretty good. Saturday was a long walk and KenpoX. Sunday was supposed to be a rest day but I felt like working out so I did Jillian's BFBM. Glad I did, but my foot isn't! When I am off my feet too long, then go to step on my left foot, I have a sharp pain that lasts for a while, but then goes away after I walk for a bit. Decided to just do P90X Chest/shoulders/Tri's and Abs today but not the cardio. I have Plyo tomorrow and want my foot to be better!

Didn't get to the movies over the weekend. too many errands and too much cleaning!

Heartymax, yeah, I try to avoid "family style" anything! For just the reason you are going through! My sister has invited us over for a big cookout on August 6th. That is my final day of P90X! My sis cooks enough to feed an army and then some! Glad I'll be able to celebrate a little at least! Good luck on your push up challenge! I think you'll be happy you bought your new workouts!:D

Have a good day everyone! Susan

Morning Ladies,

Had a great time at my brother's cabin, sure was hot a couple of days. Horse and deer flys where the biggest problems that we had. :D Didn't do any workouts, just swam and most of that was just standing in the water. :D Today is PS Back, Biceps, Chest, Shoulders, Triceps. My feet where sore again, so nice to have just upperbody. ;)

heartymax, Understand those family style resturants. ;) Have fun with that push-up challenge. I have looked at that from time to time, just was never motivated to try.

Susan, Two weeks left of your rotation, that is great. Sorry to hear about your foot, sounds painful.

Have a great day!

Sam - How was Harry Potter? Did you get good seats?

Heartymax - Don't worry about falling off the wagon - just get back on! So what's the 100 pushup challenge? Do 100 consecutive pushups?!

Susan - Is it time to replace your shoes? When I start to get any kind of ankle pain it usually means 1) too much high impact or 2) need new shoes. Only 2 more weeks of P90X - woo hoo! You definitely need to celebrate at your sister's with a good meal after all your hard work.

Laurie - Sounds like a relaxing vacation. It was too hot to do much outside last week other than swim anyway.

Hi Karen and Lala!

We had a great weekend in Chicago. The rain held off on Saturday but it was HOT. We walked around downtown and I really wanted to jump in Buckingham Fountain! :D It rained a little on Sunday morning but was done by the time we left the museum. We went to the Art Institute (Saturday) and Museum of Science and Industry (Sunday). This was my 3rd or 4th trip to MSI so almost didn't want to go but the Body Worlds exhibit was really interesting. I wouldn't take young kids to see it though because they might get freaked out. We ate at some great restaurants and had a great time. If I were ever young and single with a lot of money, I'd love to live downtown Chicago. My hip flexors are sore today from all the walking we did. Despite eating more than usual my pants feel looser this morning so I'm happy about that.

Did S90 Total Body this morning. Was really motivated to workout after reading the exhibits in Body Worlds about how lack of exercise as we get older ages us. DD16 has a softball game tonight. Should be a nice night so looking forward to it..

Sue----last summer someone one the forum recommended the 100 push up challenge for me to gain strength and gradual improvement. Of course, I don't think or even care to get to 100 push ups. I just want to focus on improvement. I could barely do 10 pushups on my knees last summer. After doing several weeks of the challenge,I was eventually able to do about 35 pushups on my knees. Then I started doing 25 pushups on my knees at time for a total of 75. I did this a few nights a week and then stopped. Now that I can finally do some pushups on my toes, I thought I would try the challenge again.

Here is the website--- if you want to look at it.

one hundred push ups

Hello! Saturday was LIS/shoulders/calves/core (skipped most of the calf work, but they're still sore :)) and Sunday was HIS/chest/back. I think HIS is replacing LIS as my favorite step workout. Not sure what I'll do this evening yet, something all-cardio. Had a good weekend. Elliot seems to have finally caught on to potty-training.

Sue- Harry Potter was great! We got there about 45 minutes early and were pleasantly surprised that there was no line. I'm fully embarrassed to say I cried (I was about to say when but don't want to give anything away) Your weekend sounds like a lot of fun. I remember wanting to see Body Worlds when it was in Milwaukee but never got around to it.

Heartmax- Thanks! He's so much bigger already! I can practically see him growing. I'll have to look at your push-up challenge link. My chest is my weakest area. I can't do any push-ups on my toes (well, maybe one), and sometimes I even put my hands on the step while doing them on my knees! Good luck to you. I bet Maggiano's was delicious! Did you see the video clip of the workouts? I think they look fun!

Laurie- Sounds like a relaxing, fun vacation. Hate those deer flies!

Susan- Where is the pain in your foot? Arch? Heel? I've had something that sounds similar with pain all through my arch.

Hello Lala and Karen!

Susan---I can't wait to see your 90 day ab pic. You have done a great job! I am so glad you decided to give P90x another try.

Laurie---glad you had a great time at the cabin. It sure was some hot weather here last week. To come back from vacation and do all of the upper body work from Pure Strength----What were you thinking:D You may have sore upper and lower body.

Sam---yes I saw the clip yesterday and Oh my---they look absolutely amazing. I can't wait to get them. If it stays on schedule, the DVD's will arrive shortly after my birthday.

Sue---I have never been to Chicago....considered it a few years ago but it seems like we always end up choosing a beach area.

Today was HiIt Double Wave Pyramid followed by Butts and Gutts stability ball abs and push up challenge.

Hello! Today was the last time I had to do PlyoX! It was fun and I gave it my all! My foot felt better today too!:)

Sue, I admit when I was working out his weekend, I wore my "comfy" shoes instead of my "better" ones which probably didn't help. Today I wore the good ones and felt better. I do need both new running and workout shoes though.

Sam, the pain is in the arch, almost feels like it needs to be stretched. I spent some time last night massaging it and stretching it.Elliot must be a smart puppy to be catching on so quickly!;)

Heartymax, You got a good work in today! I am glad I gave P90X another try too. He is coming out with P90X2 in November just in time for me to be ready for something new! :D

Hi Laurie! Glad you had a nice time!
HI Lala!

Have a great day ~ Susan

Morning Ladies,

Today was S90 Legs and KCM's 30MTF Kickboxing workout #1.

Sue, Glad you and your family had a great time at the museum. I was leary to see that exhibit when it was in Milwaukee. Everyone said how great it was though. Love those loose pants. ;)

Sam, That potty training thing is half the battle, then is the chewing on everything stage. We had a dog that ate a couch. Great that you are enjoying the 4DS workouts.

heartymax, I love the upper body work in the PS series, and amazingly it is 60 min. long. I try to go as heavy as I can, and since I was on vacation last week I kept with the same weights as last time. Next week I will increase the weight.

Susan, They have been pushing the release of P90X2 off for almost a year. I really am interested, but will wait for reviews. Glad to hear that your foot is feeling better, maybe it was just one of those pains that appears out of nowhere.

Have a wonderful day!

Ugh. I ended the evening without a workout yesterday. It's TTOM, and I was really crabby... told DH all I wanted to do was curl up on the couch with Hershey bars and a jar of marshmallow fluff  I didn't do that, but I did have a snack size Oreo McFlurry... it really hit the spot!

Anyway, I'll be doing Low Max and Stability Ball Abs today.

Gotta go. DS is all over me. I should get everyone out of the house for a walk. Laurie, I laughed out loud over your dog eating a couch :p

Hi! Long time no check in! It´s been a crazy summer.

Sue, I see you went to Chicago. We went a couple of weekends ago, too. Lots of walking, the architectural boat tour, shopping :), good eats!!

got our exchange daughter back to Argentina. Have had lots of sad news in our family this summer. My BIL has inoperable cancer and this past weekend my young niece (32) had a stroke and is in ICU. she´s pregnant with her third child. That is still on our hearts.

Last weekend was the Warrior Dash. Lots of fund and this weekend is a 5k through Lambau field.

Sam, cute puppy!! I really enjoy those 4DS workouts!

Laurie, glad you had fun at the cabin. Are your feet still sore? do you know what from?

Susan, not much longer for P90X...and yes, celebrate at SIL´s! Maybe check some websites about plantar fasciitis. If that is what it is, there are some things you can do about before it gets serioius.

Hi Karen!

Morning Ladies,

S90 Shoulders & Arms and S90 Core Dynamics for me this morning.

Sam, Sounds like the McFlurry was a good antidote. :D That Hershey Bar and marshmallow fluff sounds like something that my oldest would eat.

Lala, Totally understand why you have not been posting. So sorry to hear about your BIL and your niece. Hope everything turns out all right with her and the baby. Your family and you are in my prayers.

Have a wonderful day!

This morning was Slow and Heavy Triceps and Biceps and lot of house cleaning ;).

Lala- Prayerfully your family will continue to be strong during this time. You are definitely going through alot.

Sam---I didn't know that make snack size McFlurries....hmm that is a nice tempting treat to know about it for the future :D

Susan---I guess I am out of touch. I didn't realize they were coming out with a P90x2-----Time to see some discounts on the older version----I guess.

Hubby has college friends coming to town for a convention and they are staying a few days with us. They will spend very little time at the house I really won't have to do any cooking. Lot more cleaning to do and a little grocery shopping........gotta run.

Lala! I'm so sorry to hear your terrible news. {{{ HUGS }}} I'll keep your BIL and niece in my prayers. Your workouts are probably helping you through this stressful time.

Laurie - I did half of the same workout you did today. Sounds like an interesting combination of workouts you're doing. As much as I love the cardio effect of all the S90 workouts, I miss the heavy weights.

Heartymax - It sounds like you'll still get to do your workouts while your company is there so that's good news.

Did S90 Core Dynamics this morning. I like this one better than Ultimate Ball - maybe because it's easier! ;) Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day but I took that yesterday so my Supreme 90 rotation continues with Day 57 Shoulders and Arms.

I ended up taking DS to the zoo yesterday. It was a beautiful day for it, but when we stopped to get popcorn, the guy buttered it even though I asked for plain. Anyway, I didn't eat much of it, but also didn't want to eat lunch to compensate for the calories. So... when I went to do Low Max later, I felt AWFUL. I took the step height down and still felt terrible - dizzy, nauseous, etc. I ended up only doing about 30 minutes of it  Stupid popcorn.

Elliot is sick. DH noticed his face looked swollen on one side last night and shortly after he started acting lethargic and sleepy and wouldn't eat. I took him to the vet this morning. He's got a pretty bad fever and his lymph nodes on the one side are very swollen. The vet is keeping him there for awhile to give him IV fluids, benadryl injections (in case the swelling is a bee sting), and antibiotics. They're also going to draw some blood. My poor little guy. Coincidentally, my brother's dog is also sick and being held at the same vet. I wonder if they'll recognize each other? :)

Lala- I am so very sorry for all the sadness your family has been experiencing lately. My pet troubles seem so very small in comparison. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Heartymax- Way to clean! I need to do some of that myself.

Laurie- I've been known to dream up some pretty gross stuff to eat every 28 days or so :D

Sue- I'll have to tell my DH how well you're doing with your S90 rotation. He was complaining yesterday about how sore his butt was after his first leg workout :) It's so good to have him hurting from a workout for once!

Hi Susan!

Have a great day everyone. I'll probably try to work out some of my nervousness with Low Impact Circuit today. I'm relatively sure he'll be okay; I'm just edgy.

Hello there ladies! Today was back/biceps. I really like how my arms have turned out with this rotation.:) Gloomy day an dit was hard to get out of bed... but I did.

Lala, I am so sorry to hear about your family. I will pray that all goes well and they both heal quickly.

Sam, I hope Elliot is okay! Hopefully it's just a simple allergic reaction to something or maybe he got bitten/stung by something? Bet you can't wait to hug him again!

Heartymax, I am thinking of doing Slow & Heavy for a few weeks with my running after I am done with P90x, while I decide if I am getting Insanity or something else.... I have not done S&H in forever!

HI Laurie!

Have a good night ladies! Susan

Hi! Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. My niece continues to improve and we are thankful to God for that!

Yesterday was B&G...the whole thing...yipes!
Today I did a 3.5 mi run to prep for my 5K at Lambeau this weekend. I'm pysched:D

Susan, You're referring to P90x rotation, right? I was getting my blood drawn today and the phlebotomist ask me if I worked out that she could tell :D Anyway she asked about P90X and I told her I "knew" of those who used it and really liked it...that´s you ;)

Sam, so sorry to hear about Elliot...hope he´s OK. Exercising in this humidity on an empty stomach can take its toll, no? But 30 minutes is something!

Laurie, Hadn´t heard of P90x2. Are you looking into it? You can be our reviewer:) How´s Renfaire going?

Heartymax, can´t discount that housecleaning!! so there´s something positive about it! I don´t care for it, so it helps to know that at least I´m moving my body ;)

Sue, great work on S90. Are you following the rotation or are you adding the heavy weights?

Hi Karen!
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning. Elliot's home and doing better. The vet seemed quite mystified over what actually happened. I'm starting to think the bump on the side of his head and the fever are unrelated. His blood work comes back today, so I'll know more then and will be able to talk to the vet. He's still a little lethargic, and won't eat his dry food. I think he bumped his head on the storm door on the way in from going outside (now I remember this, of course), and his jaw is hurting him. Who knows? This is why dogs need to learn how to talk :)

Did Low Impact Circuit yesterday. I felt kind of crummy again during the workout. I got through it, but it majorly kicked my butt. I'm thinking I need to up my water intake in the mornings. I think I'm sipping on coffee way too long, and only getting about one glass of pure water before working out. I also had a huge breakfast this morning, so maybe that will help. Not sure which video I'll do yet today.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning Ladies,

S90 Cardio Challenge and STS Extended Stretch for me this morning.

I went to Half Price Books and got 3 DVD's. Traners Edge Killer Abs and Back (have been wanting this one for ages:D), and two SWAT DVD's.

heartymax, I don't envy you having to clean, that is one chore that I try to avoid.

Sue, I like both of the ab workouts from S90, but have to say Ultimate Ball is my favorite also. I watched some of the Butt Bible workouts the other day, and they look good. I was just laughing at some of the things that she says, because I found them funny. She talks to her butt and calls is "Mr. Butt" My DH was laughing too.

Sam, Sorry to hear about the puppy being sick. Not fun. Glad you had fun at the zoo, but dang on the popcorn. :( Today is another day, and I'm sure your workout will be great. ;)

Susan, WTG on those arms! It is hard to decide what to do after a rotation, but for me trying to decide is half the fun.

Lala, Faire is going pretty good. This weekend we are going to be way down on people, there is some kind of steam punk event going on that alot of our people are going to. Still having the sore feet the day after faire, thinking of doing yoga on Mondays now to help stetch the feet out a bit more.

Boss brought in donuts today to celebrate his new status as a grandpa. I just wish they wouldn't be so close. :p

Have a great day!

Sam - Sorry to hear Elliot is sick. Hopefully the blood results will show something easy to fix and he feels better soon. LOL about DH's sore butt! So does he like Supreme 90? I love how they pack so much into a short time and make me sweat a TON! I hope your workout goes better today.

Susan - Hurray on the nice-looking arms! It's definitely harder to get out of bed on dreary days.

Lala - I'm glad to hear your niece is improving. Hopefully she'll be back with her family in no time. You sure are doing some fun races this year! Almost makes me want to try running again. Yes, I am doing the Supreme 90 rotation as written. Haven't added in the heavy weights but my next rotation will definitely include them. Now just have to figure out what to do - Gym Styles, Slow and Heavy, Pure Strength, P90X? Too many choices!

Laurie - Yeah that Butt Bible instructor says some pretty bizarre things! Hurray on the good deals at Half Price Books! Haven't been there in ages. Just cover your eyes whenever you pass those donuts! (If they're real close you may have to plug your nose as well.) It's hard for me to say no to an iced cake donut though. . .

Forgot to mention I was planning to do S90 Cardio Challenge last night to get caught up. Tonight is S90 Shoulders & Arms.

Have a great day!
