Buff Badgers Week of July 11th

Susan----glad you are off to great start in your bosses eyes. That definitely means a lot when you are starting a new job.

Karen----how great to enjoy a bike ride with your DD8. I bet she looks forward to that.

Laurie---I bet Jillian works the abs really good. I only have 30 day shred and I do like her ab segments.

Sue----Butt Bible---now that is funny:D I recently watched Drumline and enjoyed it as if I had never seen it before. I remember the scene when Nick Cannon was trying to help the guy earn his spot back on the field by giving him some tips----he told him to make love to the drum.

Hi Sam and lala.

My hamstrings are sore from yesterday. Today was Hiit 40/20 followed by the upper body portion of Muscle Max.

Morning Ladies,

Well I put my VHS to use and put in TaeBo Live Advanced Volume 2, love the music in that one. ;)

Karen, Great bike ride you had there. I'm still debating between RKS and Aerobox, what to do ~ what to do. :D I really like the Jillian workout. I like that she has different exercises than all "normal" ab workouts. I also got her Ripped in 30, and really like that one to.

Susan, Congrats on getting more comfortable with your job. ;) I can hope about the weather though. :D I don't mind the heat so much, I just hope it doesn't rain. I promise to warm up the legs good. ;)

heartymax, My abs where still sore this morning, and then Billy decided that I needed more ab work. :D Then tomorrow I'm planning on doing Bootcamp, so Cathe will torture my abs also. ;)

Have a great day!

Yesterday I got my GS C/T in and a premix for GS legs. Today is a run day and I should do some abs...and quit eating

Farm tech days is pretty amazing. I know next to nothing about farming but the sheer size of the machinery is incredible so I can only imagine what farmers are thinking. someone told me that at least one of the pieces of equipment costs 1 million. But what I found was a great alpaca hat that I am going back today to buy...will post a pic!!

Laurie, have fun at the picnic and watch that hammie!!

Karen, yes, I´ve been getting the running in but not long miles. Are you still doing the half in Mpls?

Heartymax, After those HiiT workouts, I feel like I can´t add on anything! WTG

Sue, I am going to double check that S90...yes you are an enabler. Really my only hold up is that having done STS I get pretty tired of something for that long.

So those of you who have S90, how would you compare it with STS?

Susan, I mowed yesterday, too!. That counts as something!

This weekend is a trip to Chicago. leaving early tomorrow, so enjoy your weekends!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. The new puppy likes to bite my laptop, but he's asleep now ;)

I was feeling low-energy yesterday, but went ahead and did Jari's Ripped to the Core. I should've rested. I didn't feel very good throughout, and it was all compound exercises, which aren't my favorite thing anyway. So, rest day today. I'm thinking of doing Cool It Off! from Slim Series.

Laurie- Yes, Jari is really high-rep. After the positive experience I had with Slim Series I decided to give her a try. Overall, I like her. The covers and names of her videos always turned me off, but she's actually very low-key and encouraging. But, holy reps Batman! There are a TON! I didn't do Imax 2 the same day, though. That definitely would have been insane!

Karen- I've heard so much about RKS, but I just don't have the funds for the system AND kettlebells, boy, are they pricey! Would you say it's worth it? What poundage do you use for your bells?

Heartymax- You're getting in some tough workouts! I love the upper body on Muscle Max. I think I'm going to do the whole workout sometime soon; it's been awhile since I've pulled it out.

Lala- Looking forward to seeing that Alpaca hat :) Enjoy your trip to Chicago!

Sue- Yup, Imax 3 makes me shake in my Walmart Danskins just looking at the clips. I think it'll be awhile before I'm ready for it. :D

Susan- Glad to hear the new job is going well! A boss commendation always feels great.

I'm heavy into summer prep now that July is almost half over. I already have a home visit (each family gets a visit from a teacher at our school) next week. I'm changing which grade I'm teaching and the classroom I'm in, so I've got a ton of work to do. But, with a toddler and a puppy at home, I can really only go in the evenings, so I'm looking at some long nights in the next few weeks. DS NEEDS to nap so I can get workouts in :)

Have a great day everyone.

Hi,

Today I ran 4 miles. DD biked behind while the dog ran beside me.

Sam, hope you are feeling better today. You picked a tough workout for a day you didn't feel well. Isn't it fun having a puppy?:D Good deals on KB at Walmart.com and sent right to the store so it is free shipping. I think I got three Kb for 79.00. Right now my biggest is 35lb. Probably could use a 40 or 45 for swings. If you can only get two, I'd get a 20 and a 30. That would give you a great workout with RKS. The program is awesome. The workouts are between 17 and 35 min. but pack a lot into those times. You can always add more cardio, stretching, yoga etc onto if you want but if you don't, my abs are looking good, my arms have no more flop in in the back and none of it is isolation but all total body plus cardio. Well worth it if you like Kettlebells. Take it easy and I hope you fit everything in.

Lala, We are still doing the Mpls. 1/2 marathon. I suppose I should start training? I can't wait to see you hat. Some of that farm equipment is expensive. Yikes! I'd say S90- is more cardio intensive than STS, They move very quickly and you can still go pretty heavy. Lots of core/ab work in the whole program. I sure others can give you a better comparison. The best thing is they are shorter workouts. Have fun in Chicago.

Laurie, you really like boxing and you said you tried KB but didn't care for them before, although you used a workout that is really not the way KB's are best for. Kettlenetics is nothing like other KB workouts. Wish I had a VHS player that worked, I found all the slim series for 25 cents at a video store but can't use them because I don't have a VHS player.

Heartymax, nice workout. Yes, DD loves to do anything with me. Actually there is not much she does without me.

Susan, sounds like the job is going well. Nice when your supervisor recognizes you are doing well. I smiled when you said your DS was biking behind you as you are walking the dog because that is what I do to.

Sue, keep working your Butt with the Butt Bible.:D Wish we had exercise tv too.

Take care all and enjoy your day. I am off to take the kids to the fair for a bit. Hope the rain stops soon so they can ride some rides.

Have a great day.

Susan - I want to try Butt Bible Lower #2 on Saturday which is the intermediate workout so I'll let you know how I like it. I did the "beginner" workout the other day (didn't seem very beginner to me). Just to warn you, she makes a comment in Lower #1 you wouldn't like about yoga and Pilates being "a joke". Having tried both yoga and Pilates, I find her comment ignorant but it doesn't stop me from getting the most I can from the workout. I just ignore her like I ignore all the talk about burning carbs in Jari Love workouts. I was going to suggest to you that you take your rest day during the week and I see you're already doing it today. It helps so you're not exhausted by the time the weekend comes. Nice compliment from your boss. I like it when they give you positive feedback at the time it happens rather than waiting until your annual performance review.

Heartymax - I liked Drumline, too. Maybe Pauline stole that line from Drumline! LOL Great workout today.

Laurie - How can you hear the music over Billy's counting in TaeBo? ;)

Lala - I've seen shorter rotations of S90 if you don't want to do the full 90 days. I didn't think I'd do the full 90 days but I liked it so much I thought why not? S90 is more like P90X than STS. You can't go real heavy in S90 because of the fast pace but I go as heavy as I can. That's what makes it so tough. I agree with Karen in that it has a definite cardio factor. Yesterday I did Back & Biceps and my HR got in the 150s. I'm jealous of all the traveling you've been doing. DH promised me a weekend in Chicago soon so I'll have to make sure he keeps his word.

Sam - Home visits? Sorry you have some long days ahead. So much for your summers off, eh? You could always give DS little dumbells and have him workout with you. The kids used to pickup my 1 pound dumbells and do bicep curls when they were little. They called them "bones" because they thought they looked like bones.

Karen - Great deal you got on kettlebells. 40 or 45 for swings? (gulp) My back hurts just thinking about that. I've never gone heavier than 15 but I suppose you work your way up to it. Have fun at the Fair!

Slept in this morning so will do S90 Ultimate Ball tonight. Have a great night everyone!

The DOMS in my hamstrings are really kicking in so I am taking the day off so I will be ready for a good workout tomorrow.

Sam---glad you are enjoying your new puppy. I never heard of teachers having to do home visits before school starts. Do you work at a small private school?

Sue---love the comment about your kids thinking the weights were bones. Little ones are so funny when they are young. I remember when my 13 year old was a toddler and I was trying to teach him flavors of chips and not refer to them by the color of the bag ...Lays Brand----black or yellow. We spent a little time comparing Plain Chips and Barbecue chips and we talked about the difference in the color of the chips and flavor. Well, the next day I pointed at the plain chips and asked him what flavor and he responded Plain chps. I pointed at the barbecue flavor and asked him to tell me what kind of chips----he looked at me and responded..."helicopter". I thought I would roll over on the floor. So much for my lesson.:D

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi ladies! Today was Legs/back/Abs. I love the P90X leg workout! :) I am glad I got the lawn mowed last night while it was still cooler out, cause the heat is coming!

Can't believe how fast this week went! WOW! This weekend is our towns annual festival so we'll probably be spending some time there. They have a youth fishing contest on Sunday that DS wants to be in. Should be fun... and HOT! Otherwise I have a lot of housework to catch up on!

Heartymax, enjoy your rest day! And your workout tomorrow!;)

Sue, yes, I am glad I decided to take my rest day during the week. It really did help!

Karen, my DS has been a biking machine this summer! Reminds me of you! I am glad he likes to ride, it gets him out of the house and away from those darn video games!

Sam, that puppy sounds so cute! Our neighbors have a new pup . She's half yorkie, half pug, and is the darn most adorable thing! But I'll keep my 95 pound lab! I don't miss the puppy too much! How is he doing with house-breaking?

Lala, let's see a pic of that hat! Is Farm Tech day s an annual event? Is that in Wausau?

Laurie, How are those hamstrings? Did your team win??

HAve a great weekend ladies! Stay cool!

Susan

Suan-- Your lab weighs 95lbs!! My golden is a big dog too! He weighs 90lbs and the vet has asked us to cut back so he can slim down a bit. He gets plenty of back yard play time and DH takes him on a nice walk every evening. Hopefully, we can get back to 80 lbs. He is 4 years old so hopefully we can slim him down to minimize any joint problems.

Morning Ladies,

I have no injuries from yesterday! I did have the second baseman run into me while I was catching a ball in the outfield. I hung onto the ball of course. :D Have not worked out yet this morning, came into work earlier. I have to go pick up my youngest from the church at noon, and then I get a guilt free afternoon off of work. They just started a new program here. We can take Friday afternoon off in the summer without guilt, no overtime, vacation or personal time for it. :D So somtime this afternoon I'm planning on getting Bootcamp done.

Lala, Have a great time in Chicago this weekend. ;) Oh yes please do show us a pic of the hat.

Sam, Hope you enjoyed your rest day. We all need those sometime. Is Cool-It Off a low intensity workout? Cute puppy. ;)

Karen, Oh yes I do love the boxing part, the kicking is ok. :D I want to download Cathe's kickboxing workouts and just use all the punching parts. :D I think one of the reasons I hold off on the kb's is the price of the bells. :( But since RKS are short workouts, and I had a taste of some of the exercises in S90 using the dumbell I think I just might enjoy it more. ;) But then again Aerobox will be something that I can use right away.

Sue, Have fun with those Butt Bible workouts, very surprised that she said that about yoga and pilates. She of course is very wrong, since a lot of those instructors only do those two type of workouts and have great looking legs. In the Vol. 2 workout the music is louder than the counting, so it is so much nicer. They have Shelley miked, but you can't hear her. I have gotten to the point that I am not bothered by the counting anymore. ;)

heartymax, Hope you enjoy your day off!

Susan, Hey don't say HOT that way! :D I know we will be in for it this weekend. No our team lost both games, but that was ok with me. I didn't want to stay until the championship game ended. One guy on our team was having a hard time with losing. Seriously! This was just for fun, and I know I couldn't play another game, two was enough. :D

I'm going to be on vacation next week and will be unable to get online during that time. Talk to all of you on the 25th!

Have a great day!

Happy Friday! I ended up taking a total rest day yesterday. I'm not sure yet what I'll do today. I'm feeling well-rested and was thinking of giving Tonique a try.

Heartymax- Yes. I teach at a very small Lutheran school. Our particular school has about 100 students in grades k-8. Most of the schools in our synod still do home visits. I know the parents really appreciate it, and I enjoy the perspective I get from seeing a student's home, but I always grumble about them while I'm scheduling them

Laurie- Cool it Off is an hour-long stretch. It's an excellent stretch and I feel great after it's over, but I didn't even do that yesterday :)

Susan- Stay cool in the heat this weekend. Housebreaking is going okay. We're crate-training, and he seems to be picking up on things fairly quickly. No accidents yesterday! I don't think I'll miss puppy days when they're over. Boy is he crazy! And letting him out every 30 minutes while he's awake is getting old.

Sue- Yes... home visits. See above in my notes to Heartymax. I already have one scheduled for the 25th. My least favorite part is making all the phone calls. I don't like being on the phone with people I don't know very well  Happily, DS is still napping like a champ. I do look forward to the days when he doesn't need constant supervision and entertainment. Too cute about your kids calling the weights bones :p

Karen- Thanks for your thoughts and advice about kettlebells. I would really like to give it a try. The fact that the workouts are short but super effective is really attractive to me, plus a short workout leaves the door open for add-ons. But... I think it'll have to wait for a few months. I've got Cathe's new series coming some time in the fall and clothes to buy when school begins, plus the Peak Fit system is calling to me as well...:D

Lala- Hope you're having fun in Chicago!

Have a great weekend everybody.

Heartymax - Helicopter chips! LOL That is so funny. Thanks for giving me a good laugh today. Wise idea to take a rest day if your hams are sore.

Susan - Have a fun weekend and don't work too hard on that housework you have to catch up on.

Laurie - Yeah! to no injuries. :D So you get Friday afternoons off without working extra hours or taking vacation? What a great idea! I should suggest that here. :D You probably won't see this before you leave for vacation but have a great time!

Sam - I wish someone would do a home visit for my kids and help me figure out where to do their homework. DH wants them to do it in their rooms but they go downstairs (we're in a bi-level), shut the door and goof off. I take away their Nintendo DS and iTouches and they don't have tv or computers in their room but they still find ways to goof off. I want them upstairs so I can watch them and make sure they're working. I know at some point you have to let go and make them responsible but I don't want their grades to suffer. Before you know it your DS will be all grown up and you'll want him to be little again - that's how I feel sometimes.

Did S90 Ultimate Ball last night. Tonight is S90 Tabata Inferno so going to have to psych myself up for that. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down another pound. I had hoped for more but it is TTOTM and I had 3 days in a row last weekend of bad eating. All things considered, not too bad.

My kids received their schedules in the mail already and both have missing classes due to conflicts. Ugh! Now I have to take time off work to talk to a guidance counselor and get some classes. My August calendar is looking pretty crazy right now and I really didn't need yet another thing added to it. But. . . . it's still July so I won't worry about it today. Have a great weekend everyone!.
