Buff Badgers Week of Feb 4th

No workouts this weekend. I along with many other people stayed up late watching the super bowl. I didn't wake up til 5:30 but I rushed to get in Burn Sets Bi's and Tri's which is not a long workout.

I can't believe that first commercial in the superbowl when the guy and the lady where kissing. So nasty and inappropriate when they know so many kids are watching tv. It was the way they were kissing---I couldn't believe it and for it to be the first commercial.

Gotta run since I am behind schedule.

Morning Ladies,

Got in Combat 30 and Hiit Power on Saturday. That was also the day that I got some more cleaning done (anything wood in the house, except for cabinets, and we have a LOT of wood :p). :) Sunday was Combat 60, and being lazy. I think I deserved that after all the cleaning I did. DH got the cornices finished and stained, and will be varnishing them today. They really look very nice. Then it is probably on to making the drapes.

heartymax, I totally agree with you on that commercial. My youngest commented on how disgusting that one was. ;) WTG on getting a workout in even with the shortened time.

Have a great day!

Good morning. I had a good weekend. DH and I went to a friend's annual chili cook-off (he calls it the "Chili con Carnival" :)) and Sunday was the Superbowl. So, lots of beer and other forbidden foods.

Friday was Burn Sets Bis and Tris, Saturday was All Out Low Impact Hiit. After all that bad food over the weekend, I felt like I needed some cardio today. So, instead of XTrain legs I did To The Max without the core section, then did my own floorwork for legs and abs, a drop set of rear delt flyes and some heavy deadlifts.

Heartymax- That commercial was so gross. I almost lost my appetite. Talk about just wanting to get attention.

Laurie- DH and I were just commenting to each other that we should really finish up all the things we want to do indoors because as soon as the warm weather arrives, we'll be completely focused on the outdoors. We don't have too much left, I don't think.

Off to the shower. Have a great day, everyone.

Monday Funday!

Saturday I had Cardio Leg blast. Sunday was rest day. Today I had Burn Sets Chest, Back, and Shoulders. I was proud of myself that I stayed with 35's for all the chest presses, even the burn set. Then once we got to the fly's I went down to 30's.

Feeling a little cruddy today. I'm so cold and my stomach doesn't feel the greatest. I know the antibiotic my doc. has me on for the lyme disease seems to make me a little queasy in the morning. Usually once I get some breakfast in me, I'm fine but today for some reason not working that way. I'm just dealing with it. :)

Heartymax - WTG on the quick workout. I didn't see that commercial... after hearing about it, I'm glad I didn't. What did you think of the half time show? I had mixed feelings about it.

Laurie - Wow, what a sense of accomplishment you guys must feel. Sounds like you had some good workouts this weekend. Woo Hoo!!

Sam - I would be the same way of wanting to get some cardio in when you don't eat as well as you normally do. WTG on the workout though.. Wow!!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi,

Feeling a bit better. Was able to get in imax 3, Xtrain burn sets upper body over the weeked and today i got in Xtrain leg blast. I really like that workout.

Laurie, glad you got cleaning, varnishing and your workouts in over the weekend. What a productive weekend.

Brenda, nice job on the 35's and 30's. I think I went down to 30's and 25's on them yesterday. Glad getting food into your stomach gets you feeling a bit better.

Sam sounds like you had a fun weekend. Nice workout mixture you did this a.m. I still have to try out the All Out Low Impact Step workout.

Heartymax, nice job getting the workout in. I agree I didn't appreciate that commercial at all. Gross.

Have a great day.

Sam--I love some good chili!!

Brenda-- I don't own 35s. Your chest is strong. I use 30s and 25s for chest.

DH and I went to a retirement party over the weekend and I posted a couple of pics in my profile of a cute dress I got a while ago but never wore. It was a semi- formal event so I thought I would give it a try.

Today's workout was 30 minutes on elliptical.

Morning Ladies,

Combat 30 and Shock Plyo Hiit was accomplished last night. Feel like I need to do some stretching at some point, hope to get that in this weekend or Friday. ;)

Sam, Sounds like a fun time at the Chili con. I made chili on Sunday. Great workouts you did. DH and I created a list of projects that have been left, and we are slowly going through those. ;)

Brenda, WTG on that 35# weight! Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well with those antibiotics. :( I'm just glad that I got my butt downstairs on both days to workout. It was tempting to say noway after getting all that woodwork cleaned. ;)

Karen, Glad to hear that you are feeling better, and you got in Imax3! This next weekend is going to be a busy one, so I don't know how productive it will be again. I do have some more cleaning plans, but I have a meeting in the morning and a birthday party in the afternoon. I think I should be able to clean all the windows inside though. ;) That is one thing that we don't have a ton of. :D And I think that dd can help me with this one. ;)

heartymax, That dress looks gorgeous on you. I love the off the shoulder look. ;) I don't have 35's either. ;)

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!

This morning I had Cardio Leg Blast again. Felt like I did pretty good. Stomach is doing better today, thank goodness. :)

Karen - Glad you are feeling better. WTG on the workouts after not feeling so great.

Heartymax - Love the dress. You look very nice. :) I don't get to dress up often but when I do, I enjoy it. I got the 35's when I did STS and I have one 40# dumbbell for when I did one arm rows in STS.

Laurie - That was quite an accomplishment last night. Shock Plyo Hiit sounds like such a fun workout.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
Brenda

Hi,

Probably won't work out today. Too busy and lazy.

Laurie, How long is your combat rotation? If we did our windows now, we would have to redo them again in a couple of months. Living on the lake makes cleaning widows a job you just don't quit doing.

Brenda, glad you are feeling better. Nice workout. I really like the music in leg blast.

Heartymax, you look beautiful in that dress.

Sad to see the older man on Biggest Loser go home last night. He is doing well though.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Today's workout was Cardio Leg Blast. I added on my own version of hip thrust challenge. I put my feet on the step and positioned my butt in a little and used a 30lb barbell and did the challenge that way. Cathe uses a similar move with no weight to work the hamstings so whatever I am working will the body some good. I will wait and see if my body has any negative impact from this tomorrow to detemine if I will use this modified version again.

Thanks for the compliments!:D

Brenda---STS definitely helps build strength. That's when I purchased my 30lbs. I wanted one 35lb for plie squats, but those darn weigts are so expensive.

Have a great day!

Good morning, everyone. I am recovering after a horrible bout with some sort of stomach distress yesterday. I'm not sure if it was a bug or low-grade food poisoning, but I was down for the count. I'll spare you the gory details, but I didn't get up the courage to even drink water until about 4 in the afternoon, and didn't consume a calorie till I finally had a 7up at 5:30. I seem to be completely fine today (after 12 hours of sleep), so I'm praying DS and DH stay healthy.

Heartymax- Love the pictures! I love the necklace you're wearing with the off-the-shoulder dress. Gorgeous.

Brenda- You (and everyone else) have a very strong chest. I must confess that I use no higher than 20s for chest, ever. Most of the time I stick with 15s, and I even go to 12s when I'm burnt out for flyes. I really should invest in STS so I can build some strength. My muscles look nice, but they don't seem very functional :)

Karen- Glad to hear you're feeling better. All Out is not as challenging as most of Cathe's cardio, which is nice for days when I don't have as much energy. The step portion is just drills, no fancy stuff. I like the Leg Blast workout, too.

Laurie- I've been neglecting my stretches lately. I really should fit in a Stretch Max segment on my off days. I can tell my range of motion has suffered a bit.

I'm off to at least do a premix of Bun Sets Bis and Tris. I still feel a little weak from yesterday, so I'm glad there's no cardio on the schedule. Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!!

This morning I had bi's and tri's. I like that alternating bi's and tri's in that workout. Me, being the cardio junkie that I am, did the warm up from Insanity. If you know Insanity, it's a pretty insane for a warm-up. ;) It was enough to get my heart pumping.

Karen - You may have mentioned this already but what lake do you live on? I felt bad too for the older guy that got voted off on the Biggest Loser. I was happy though that the girl on Jillian's team (don't remember her name), that she's been doing real well lately since she's the only one left on the white team. I see they go to individuals next week.

Heartymax - Those weights are expensive, which is why I only have one 40lb weight. When I was buying some of dumb bells for STS, I was fortunate and got the majority of them on sale. You'll have to let us know how you feel tomorrow with doing those hip thrusts. Haven't attempted those yet. :)

Sam - Yikes..... glad you are feeling better. We've had a couple people at work that got some 24hr stomach bug. They were down and out for day and the next day they felt much better. I hope DS & DH don't get it. Sounded nasty. Your silly....I'm sure your muscles are functional. :) Probably would be a good idea to stay away from cardio today.

Snow storms coming tomorrow.. yuck!! Snow is pretty and all but I'm getting sick of driving in it. I'm ready for spring. :)

Have a great day!!
Brenda

Good Afternoon,

Yesterday I ended up doing Cardio Coach vol. 7 on my spin bike. Today I did Horizontal Conditioning Vol. 2. ( the workout I go to when I am not in the mood to do anything really hard)

Brenda, nice job with using Insanity as a warm up. It's almost a workout in itself. We live on Rice Lake. I didn't figure Jillian's girl would get voted off because that would mean the end of Jillian also and I don't think the show would do that.

Sam, thanks for the info on All Out. Glad you are feeling better today. Hope you continue to feel well. You have really been having ups and downs with all the antibiotics, arthritis etc. Take care.

Heartymax, still have to do the hip thrust challenge. I still haven't done any of the challenges.

Off to shovel and take the dog for a walk.

Have a wonderful rest of the day.

Morning Ladies,

Sorry I wasn't on yesterday, was very busy here at work. Last night was Combat 60, and I didn't get a workout in Tuesday. Both girls came with me to my hair appt., so I got out a lot later than expected.

Brenda, I do know what those Insanity warm-ups are like, great job. They are a workout themselves. The Shock Plyo workout is a lot of fun. I would put it up there with an Insanity workout. ;) I just love watching the news reporters panic about the snow. I was following a news truck this morning, just wondering what they where doing out by us.

Karen, I see that you where not lazy enough, and got in a workout. :D The combat rotation is 60 days, and I think that I will probably finish it with no problem. There isn't one workout that I have not loved. ;) I am debating between Turbo Fire and Rushfit after this. Rushfit will be a good combo with these Combat workouts. I will see how I feel about it.

heartymax, WTG on making that exercise your own!

Sam, So sorry to hear about the stomach flu! Hope no one else in your house get sick.

Have a great day!

Good morning! I feel completely recovered today! All Out is on the schedule and I'm stalling. I thought of subbing something else, but I don't think it's All Out I'm dreading, just working out in general

Karen- No arthritis or antibiotics for me. Are you thinking of Brenda? Most of my ups and downs these days have been self-inflicted (note: the above laziness about working out ;))

Brenda- Insanity warm-up, huh? I've heard things about the Insanity warm-up. I'm fairly certain I will never own Insanity. I've learned to enjoy intense cardio, but not that intense.

Laurie- You've been so faithful with your rotation. I've been more consistent with the XTrain rotation, but I do get tired of doing the same workouts over and over.

DH and DS seem perfectly fine. Reminds me of the crab leg incident I had a couple years ago. Maybe it was just food poisoning? Whatever, I'm just happy it's gone and DS and DH are fine.

I ate carbs to recover from my illness, but yesterday I was back into full swing paleo. I have to say again how great I'm feeling with this diet. DH is really enjoying it too. We follow the 80/20 rule, so there's plenty of room for little cheats and indulgences, but I think we've been staying on track more than 80% of the time. DH's stomach has gotten completely flat. He looks great :D

Have a great day, everyone!

Good Afternoon!

It's snowing here in Germantown. I hope it doesn't get as bad as they are saying.

This morning I had Tabatacise and I got to pick one the premixes, so I went with the one that have tabata 1-4, back burn sets, and core 1 and then hung on our inversion board for a while to stretch the joints out. I was stuffed up this morning so tabata felt harder than normal. :)

Karen - Rice Lake is a nice area. CC7.... I miss doing cardio coach. I think I would have fell over if Jillian's girl lost and they both had to leave, but I think you're right that the show probably wouldn't allow that to happen.

Laurie - I heard pretty good things about RushFit. Haven't checked it out at all.

Sam - Yep, Insanity's warm-up is pretty intense. I did Insanity once and I haven't done since. I've done the warm up every once in a great while as a quick cardio boost but that's about it. Not on the top of my favorite list. So glad you are feeling better. I need to check out this paleo diet. I've never heard of it before.

Back to work I must go. I have a follow doc appt this late this afternoon on the lyme disease. Not sure what she's going to do but guess I will soon find out.

Everyone drive safe and stay warm.

Brenda

We are expecting snow this evening in the area. I'm not clear on if we will get some here.

Brenda---I noticed you mentioned Germantown---- is that as in MD? If so, I never picked up on the fact that we live in same state.

Today's workout was Afterburn. Haven't done that one in a long time so need I say more. Those darn burpees with straddle pushups and sliding plank pushups remind me of the warrior Cathe expects us to be.

Happy Friday!!

Morning Ladies,

Last night was Combat 45, losts of fun! Got about 7-8" of snow in our area. Tomorrow we have my nieces birthday party, and of course my scheduled cleaning of windows. Should be a busy day. DD didn't have dance class last night, and I don't think we will be going tonight either. She had some warts treated with acid on Wednesday, and she said that it was hurting alot this morning. We will see how the day goes.

Sam, I have a friend that has gone Paleo, and she is doing really well also. Might have to look into it more. ;) Glad to hear that your family wasn't affected by the bug. Your body may still need to recoup it's strength from being sick, don't try to push it if you don't feel like a workout. ;)

Brenda, I have not heard snow totals, so hope you didn't get to much. ;) Hope the doc appt. went well for you, and sorry to hear that you where stuffed up. That couldn't have been fun trying to breath through tabatas. I have to review some of the Rushfit workouts, but I'm heading toward that system.

heartymax, LOL about the warrior! Cathe really does want us all to be warriors.

Have a great day!

Good morning! I finally got my butt up and did All Out yesterday, followed my cleaning the second floor. Then I took Elliot for a walk in the snow. Wow. That was a workout, and super fun :)

I did Rhythmic Step without the challenge at the end this morning. I wanted to get done quick so I can take DS out to my mom's to play in the snow for awhile.

Laurie- Don't be too put off by the all the paleo "rules" if you do any research. It is very strict in its purest form, but I don't think most people are capable of doing it that way most of the time. For instance, I haven't totally given up dairy. I love it way too much.

Brenda- I read somewhere that Cathe does some form of paleo, so it has to be great, right ;) I'm sure you're busy snow clearing today. We got quite a bit, but I love it. It's so pretty, and living in the city has its perks as far as clearing snow goes. DH doesn't even own a snowblower.

Heartymax- I always get a little boost when Cathe says to train like a warrior during that workout. Then I giggle, thinking that the biggest thing I do battle with every day is cleaning the house.

No big plans this weekend, have a great one, everyone!

Happy Friday!!

This morning I had Hardstrikes and I added on some of the caridio conditioning from KPC. Had another night of crappy sleep but didn't have too bad of a workout.

Well had my doc appt yesterday and got good news and not so good news. Good news is I do not have lyme disease. The not so good news is there is some auto immune thing going on with my body. The lyme disease test came back as a false positive, which means there were other things that affect it that made it come back positive. They running more blood work for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid, mono, and CV something. The swollen lymph node didn't go down at all so they want to do a biopsy of it to make sure it's nothing serious. Won't get the results back on the blood work until next week. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing. :)

Heartymax - I work in Germantown, WI. I love Afterburn. Haven't done that one since I XTrain. Train like a warrior. ;)

Laurie - Have fun at your nieces b-day party tomorrow. Sounds like you have a busy day planned. I would think we at least got 5-6". Our driveway drifted pretty bad, I almost got stuck in our driveway.

Don't have much planned over the weekend other than the normal cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping. Will probably work from home a few hours each day as I'm so far behind. We're meeting one of my old friends down at No No's for a Mardi Gras party so hopefully that'll be fun.

Have a great weekend!
Brenda
