Buff Badgers Week of August 22nd

My MIL did come over yesterday and entertained DS for awhile, and I did Jari Love's Ripped to the Core. I felt so good afterward that while DS was sleeping I ordered two more of her workouts. I don't know what it is about her stuff, but I always feel really energized and strong when I'm done with them. They're awfully inexpensive, too. I just wish she'd stop prattling on about how many "carbs" I'm burning during each exercise.

Cardio today. Not sure what quite yet.

Laurie- My MIL is a very nice person, but we will never be close ;) She's very prissy and cautious, with virtually no sense of humor. I have a difficult time relaxing around her. My FIL died about two years ago, and my other brothers in-law don't live around here, so there's no "buffer" when she's around. DH isn't very close with her either, so it's a strange dynamic when she's around. Okay, that was my MIL rant :D

Sue- Chest work at the end? That is strange. I'm all for minimal leg work, though  Good for your DS! I wouldn't think a trick like that would be necessary; I guess I didn't know football players could be so mean

Susan and Karen- She was here, and I did NOT clean! :D

lala- I hope you can get your meds straightened out. You don't want to take something that makes you feel worse.

One more (I hope) vet appt. tonight. The weekend has cleared up a bit schedule-wise, so I hope to get to school for at least one long session to get the last-minute things finished. Have a great day, everyone.

Hello! Today was a 4.5 mile run and plank work and walking the dog.

Sam, glad you were able to get a good workout in yesterday! Hope this is Elliots last trip to the vet for a little while! I took our dog in for a check-up last month and she weighed in at 116#'s! Well, I cut way back on her food and yesterday she was down to 109#. He wouldlike me to get her to 95# within the next 6 months or so.... I told him she's a "curvy girl"

Sue, congrats to your DS! I hope you all enjoy watching him! I love football!:)

Karen, have fun! :)

Hey Laurie, is RI30 harder than her other ones? When I look at the dvd case, I just wonder how hard it actually is. What would you compare it to intensity wise?

Have a great night!

Susan - our golden retriever weighed 96 lbs at his check up a little while ago and we are trying to get him back down to 85lbs. Hubby takes him on a long walk in the evenings but our schedules just won't manage to add a morning walk during the school year.

Sam----glad you were able to squeeze in a workout. I understand how busy things get as we gear up for the school year.

Laurie---I don't want any kind of push up that require me to move in any another direction. I struggle enough.

Sue---I can see the beaming from you PROUD mama!!! You should be---congrats to your son. I hope he has a great football season.

Hi Karen and lala.

Yesterday was new student orientation after school so I knew it would be a very long day so I slept in to be well rested. We are gearing up from some bad weather from the hurricane. The governor has already declared a state of emergency. I know it will be a long day at work, so I am skipping my workout again this morning so I can go to the grocery store. I am sure it will be very crowded after work---and I will likely be working late as I am sure there will be some parents who wait to the last minute to register their child for school. With the anticipated weather, I may not be able to go in over the weekend, so I have to make sure everything is set before i leave this evening. With that said---it will be a long day---so I better get to the store this morning.

Have a great weekend ladies.

Morning Ladies,

Changed it up a bit this morning with Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. I added on 20 Push-Ups and 30 Sit Ups. ;) Fun workout!

Karen, We take our DD to college next week Wednesday. Hope you don't cry to much. ;) I have not tried the Week 4 workout yet, but out of the three that I have tired I think that even though week 3 is harder it is better. I really have liked all three so far.

Sue, So how did your ds do at his first game? I was always nervous when dd was running too. ;) I love that she is only 45 min. away, so we will be able to go watch her run still. :D

Sam, Glad that you are enjoying your Jari workouts. I tried one of her workouts once, she didn't click with me at all. ;) Did you decide what cardio to do yesterday? :D

Susan, All I can really say about Ripped in 30 for comparision is that it is a lot like 30 Day Shred, but a tad harder. She also does a lot more body weight type exersices in this one vs just using weights. Because they are using light weights and never change, she really doesn't give you a lot of time to go to a heavier weight if you need to. Intensity wise I would say it is right up there with BFBM. ;)

heartymax, My youngest dd had registration at the HS yesterday and then the oldest took her around the building to find all her classrooms. First time that I had been in the upstairs part of the HS. My DH took the oldest when she was a Freshman. Hope all is well with your area during this hurricane.

Have a great day!

Hi! Sounds like you all had eventful Thursdays and today is FRIDAY!!!

Yesterday was a 3 mi run and will probably do some UB later on today.

Sue, how did the game go for DS? You were probably more nervous than he was! Congrats on his being named captain! Didn´t he have a problem with a toenail before? Or maybe I am thinking of someone else.

Susan, I really like STS TB too. You are running alot lately! A friend called and asked me to go with her to a local 10K and I think I will, but although I have kept runnning this summer I have not "trained".

BTW thanks for the feed back on the levothyroxine. My practicioner called and took me off it and I go back next week for another blood test and meet with my physician. I feel fine now  go figure.

Karen, good luck to your daughter. I´m sure there will be tears:(. It´s hard but she will do well! Where is Maranatha? What kind of college is it?

Heartymax, you´re in VA, right? Take care!

Sam, hope Elliot is good to go. Our dog, Tank (he´s in my avatar with me) has had lots of problems with his pads but it seems they have finally worked out and he is back to racing around! It´s nice to see!

Hi Laurie!

Sam - Oh, yes. Football players can be mean. Most players aren't and most coaches would never allow it but there are a few. Last year the girl on our team (who has since quit) was intentionally elbowed in the chest just above where the shoulder pads sit after the play was over. She ended up with a fractured sternum. Our coach spoke to their coach and I believe the kid was not allowed to play in a couple of games.

Susan - That's a big dog you have! I've been to the vet with our cats and watch as the dogs come in and get weighed. (It amazes me how well trained all of them are to go directly to the scale.) I saw this HUGE dog with long fur one time (wish I could remember the breed) and was surprised he was only 95 pounds. Turns out he was all fur! :) I am starting to love football more and more. Wish I understood it more. I never watched it growing up though. Too boring! was what I thought.

Heartymax - My prayers are with you that you and all your loved ones make it through this storm with little impact.

Laurie -What a nice thing for your older DD to do (taking her younger DD around the school). I remember my older brother doing that with me eons ago. DS did well (I think) at his game. I didn't see him miss any obvious blocks. It's hard to watch what he is doing and watch the ball at the same time. He plays O line and D line so he's out there almost every play (except special teams). I asked him how his team did and he said they played well but could have played better. BFBM - what a great workout to kickoff the weekend!

Lala - Wow! What a great memory you have. Yes, DS had an ingrown toenail earlier this year and needed surgery but it was the other big toe. That toenail is still growing out. I suspect (although he denies it) is the way he trims his nails. I know he just rips his fingernails and I'm pretty sure that is what he does with his toenails as well. Maybe he'll finally learn his lesson. I'm glad you're feeling better now that you're off the medication. Good luck next week with your blood test.

Time to go downstairs and do a workout. I said I'd do LowMax yesterday so I better go down there and do it. Will probably only do a premix though. Varsity game tonight but haven't decided if we're going (away game) or watch it on TV. Tomorrow I'm meeting my sisters for rummaging and lunch. The rest of the weekend is house cleaning and then chill-time.

Have a great weekend all!

P.S. For those of you not on Facebook I should have told you score for DS' game. We won 39-14!

I posted a reply (I thought) but it didn't show up. I may have forgotten to submit it. Since it's Friday, I'll do a condensed version :)

I did The Firm Ultimate Calorie Blaster yesterday. It's a workout that used to kick my butt every time before I started with Cathe. Now it's one I think I'd save for a lower-energy day :D

Not sure what I'll do yet today; it depends if my Jaris get here or not. I'll do some kind of weights, either circuit or strength only.

Elliot's doing much better, just one more blood test to make sure his liver enzymes are back to normal after the infection.

Take care of yourself, Heartymax!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi gang! Today was P90X Legs/back. I missed this workout!:D Saturday I plan on running 5 miles, and walking Ruby on the hiking trail for 45mn. Sunday will be pilates. I also plan on lots of cleaning and organizing etc.. since I went to work full-time I do not have enough time to get done everything I want to!

Sam, glad puppy is doing better!

Sue, congrats to your DS! How nice! Ruby is funny when she sits on the scale, she always puts her head down in shame! But then she fet s treat when she gets off! Have fun rummaging! I have not gone all Summer!

Lala, I have no doubt you could do a 10k. I just read an article in Women's Health about training for a 5k, 10k and half marathon. You can do it!

Laurie, so your youngest is now in HS?! :) Thanks for the info on RIP

Heartymax, I don't know how much you feed your dog but our vet said most dogs are over weight not due to lack of exercise but because we over-feed them. Right now I only give her just over 1/2 a cup, 2 times a day! She doesn't act hungry either. We give her a very rich food so they don't need as much as I thought. I was giving her a total of 2 cups a day.

Hope you all enjoy your weekends! Stay safe Heartymax! I'll be sending a prayer up!

Take care- Susan
