Buff Badgers Week of April 25th

Cathlete
Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. My DS turned 13 yesterday so it was double the excitement for the family. I did Rhythmic Step on Saturday and yesterday was a rest day. I started week 3 of Meso 3 with chest and back. I did purchase 30 lbs. dumbells over the weekend so I was able to do my chest presses with 30 lbs. I am not comfortable with chest flys as Cathe always says you have to really watch the shoulder joint on those. I am more comfortable with the head of the dumbells facing each other on chest flys but Cathe doesn't use that position in STS, but I believe that is the position in PUB. I did first two sets of the flatbench flys like cathe and then I rotated the dumbells but still that heavy weight (25lbs) just scares me. I don't want to hurt my shoulder. I didn't increase my fly weight from last week because I am not comfortable with my form. Anyway, I opted to do push ups instead of incline chest flys. I did 4 sets of 10 push ups. When hubby saw that I brought 30lbs. dumbells---he just reminded me that that weight is really heavy and I need to be careful. How sweet of him. If only he knew how strong I am. :D

Today is my last day of spring break and it is back to work tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. Saturday was S90 Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. I have now done all the workouts in the set, and I can say that I really enjoyed everyone of the workouts. :D The set is well worth the $20 I spent on it. This morning was Legs!

heartymax, Happy Birthday to your DS! WTG in adjusting your workout to how you feel they will work for you. Good job on the increase in weight on the chest presses!

Have a great day!

It is back to work today. Had to get used to getting up extra early again for my workout. It was nice sleeping late and not working out until 6 or 6:30. My workout shoes were worn out so my new ones arrived yesterday. I went back to the shoes that I used to wear---Ryka's because I do find them to be the most comfortable for step. I ordered a pair from amazon for $46.99 so I got a great deal.

This morning was step and Hiit Lo premix from Intensity. I was definitely loving the new shoes.

Laurie---glad you are loving all your S90 workouts.

Hello everyone!

Hi everyone! Hope you enjoyed your Easter celebrations. Sorry I was MIA yesterday but I was helping DH and DD pack for their trip. DH puts off packing until the last possible minute and then right before I had to drive them to school to drop them off for their bus, DH says he has to go to Kohl's. I thought he wanted to pay the bill but found out he wanted to get a new pair of jeans! DD is stressing because they were told to be in the auditorium by 3:15 for a meeting and we're standing at the front of the store at 3:05 waiting for him. Luckily the school is only 5 minutes away. Then he pays for his jeans and realizes when he emptied his wallet of all the unnecessary stuff, he took out his Mastercard! So I dropped them off and drove back to the house to get it. Oh, and by the way, bring a belt and a bag of ear plugs he forgot! Wonder what else he forgot. . . .

This morning I had a dental cleaning. DS and I are going to see Source Code this afternoon. I have a list of things to do this week so hopefully I'll get started on that today after the movie. I wish the sun would come out. :(

Heartymax - Your idea of sleeping in is different from mine. LOL On a day off I'm lucky to start a workout before 10! You got a good deal on your Rykas. I've never tried Rykas before but people seem to love them. Happy Belated Birthday to DS! Now he's an official teenager. Funny story about DH and the 30 pound dumbells. :D One of these days you'll have to show him all the pushups you can do. That'll really impress him!

Laurie - I still can't believe S90 was only $20! Looking forward to a rotation of these now that I know they're good. (I've only tried the 2 cardio ones so far) Have you ever watched The Tudors series on Showtime? I'm doing a 30 day free trial of Netflix and just finished Season 1. It's a good show but a little risque (okay, a lot risque).

Here's how my weekend went:
Friday - Amy Bento's Rumble Quick NRG premix
Saturday - 3 mile walk + Nicole Stewart's Pilates Leg workout from Exercise TV (about 12 min.)
Sunday - HSC Timesaver 51 min.
Monday - 4DS Lower Intensity Step cardio + Jessica Smith Leg workout from Exercise TV (about 15 min.)

Don't know what I'll do today yet. Thinking about another TLT. I start Meso 3 on Wednesday so don't want to work chest and back.

Hi! Looks like another week where I´ll be checking in sporadically. Had a great weekend with the family. DD19 came home from college along with DD22. Got some runs in along with STS.
My 10K is June 3.

Heartymax, have to agree with Sue that on a day off my workouts are NOT at 6:30!!

Laurie, glad you like S90..and such a deal. I´m planning on the lowimpact from Cathe, so saving my pennies for that one.

Sue, You have been busy...where are DH and DD going? Let us know how you like source code. We finally watched The King´s speech this weekend. Really good movie

Hi Susan and karen

Plyo Legs today! Not much rest between exercises so it keeps your heart rate up! I love Plyo Legs.

Sue----you are getting in a lot of cardio for your "recovery week". I was cracking up reading about your husband's preparation for the trip. Our DH can be funny---it is stories like this that make us love them more and just shake our heads. :D

Lala---your 10k is soon! You have been running alot and that extra long rong last week was awesome!!

and yes.....when I am off one month during the summer----I still get up early to exercise. If I don't get up early---it won't happened! I try to stay as close to my normal routine as possible.

Morning Ladies,

Yesterday I did Ultimate Ball, and this morning Back & Biceps. Changed up the rotation a little bit.

heartymax, Good deal on those shoes. I need to get a new pair soon. ;) I have to get up at my same time every day also, otherwise I don't exercise either.

Sue, I have a really hard time watching the Tudors. There are so many things that are historically wrong. Some of the clothes drive me nuts, because they don't wear a shirt underneath. I can't imagine how much some of those outfits must scratch those actors while filming. My DH has been watching them, just to see what they are all about. Glad you where able to get your DH and DD off, guess if your DH forgot something he will have to go shopping. :D

Lala, Not to long until that 10K, how are you progressing? Nice to be able to spend time with family during holidays.

Have a wonderful day!

Heartymax - You're right - looking back I did do a lot of cardio for a rest week. I always tell myself I'll do more yoga and Pilates but then I reach for a cardio w/o instead. I do my first Plyo Legs on Friday. Looking forward to it.

Laurie - I LOVE the costumes on The Tudors but I'm sure they're embellished for tv and as for the lack of shirts underneath. . . well, that's probably to make it easier for the love scenes where the men are always undressing the women. Seriously though, Anne Boelyn never seems to wear the same dress twice! How ridiculous is that? Changing up your routine is a good thing.

Lala - I can't wait until the weather gets nicer (or at least it stops raining) so I can go jog/walking again. Do you have a treadmill or do you train outdoors? I *think* you train outdoors and if so, you are a brave soul. What's your goal for the 10K? Mine would be to finish! LOL

Last night I did Tonique and today I did STS Disc 25 Chest & Back. I maxed out my barbell at 70 pounds so I'm going to the store today to buy more weights. DH called to say they arrived safely in Boston. DD performs at the Boston Symphony today (how cool is that?!) and they see The Blue Man Group tonight. Feeling a little jealous right now.

Hey Gang! I am around, just very busy this week. We have our DD14's confirmation this Sunday and we're having about 20 people over. Plus, DH invited friends from out-of-town over for Saturday and I need to get my house spotless, plus cook, do the shopping, etc...

I spent all day Monday cleaning the upstairs. Literally from 7am until 7pm. No workout that day! Yesterday I did Cathe's Intensity.:D Today, I walked Ruby, but I know I need to do something more, but my mind wanders to all the other stuff on my "to do" list! Tomorrow I have a meeting later in the afternoon. Thursday, I am hoping to wake up at 4:30 and get on the elliptical and do some pilates. It's supposed to be raining so Ruby won't go walking anyway.

All of you are doing so well! I will check back soon! Just know if ya don't hear from me, I am probably scrubbing something!:p

Stay strong- Susan

Morning Ladies,

This morning was Tabata Inferno. :D

Sue, WTG on having to up the weights! ;) Very cool about your DD getting to perform at the Boston Symphony. I forgot to congratulate you on your 10 lb weight loss on Phase 1 of SB! How are you doing with adding in some carbs? Bet you wanted to eat a piece of fruit really bad. At least that is something that I would miss. ;)

Susan, I should lend you my oldest, she had our house spotless when I got home from work on Tuesday! :D It sure was a nice surprise. Congrats to you dd on her confirmation, my youngest gets confirmed at the end of Oct. Have fun scrubbing, well maybe not.

We went and test drove a Hyundai Santa Fe last night, and dang do I want this vehicle. :D Just wish we didn't need to replace our van right when we get the loan information for dd's college education.

Have a great day!

Hi! You all have been busy! Let´s see...yesterday was STS legs disk 12 I think...and I´m still feeling it! Monday I doubled up so Tues I took the day off and today, too. It´s a running day but I´m going to stretch and do abs instead.

Laurie, I know what you mean about college etc. DD19 goes to a private college and we hope she can go back next year. She is doing a good job at getting work, but I hope it makes a dent in it...so used cars for us :D

Sue, How did I miss your DD and the Boston Symphony??? Congrats and that is soo cool! Do you have the weight rack or can you actually lift 70 lbs over your head? I can´t do that so I limit myself...obviously!

Susan, your upstairs must be spotless;) Tank had surgery so doesn´t get his walks...but I´m beginning to get used to it

Heartymax, I admire you that you stay on your schedule "they" say that is the best but I have a hard time in the summer and on weekends!

Anyone "seen" karen??

I am running behind and wanted to do a quick check in. Biceps, shoulders and triceps this morning. I did 3 of 4 sets on everything to save time. Gotta run. Will check in later today.

Susan - How is the housecleaning and party prep coming? It's always so much work isn't it (getting ready for a party at your house)? If you get any workouts in at all you'll be doing great (although cleaning can be a workout in itself!)

Laurie - Yes, the fruit did taste good but I'm bummed to have gained 3 pounds this week for no good reason! I read online that it's common in South Beach when you start phase 2 and just hang in there. I'm going to ignore the scale for a few days I think. The Santa Fe looks really nice. I love my Sonata so I've become a Hyundai fan. I'm not sure how the whole financial aid thing works (I didn't pay much attention when I applied years and years ago) so I'm not sure what a vehicle has to do with it. Forgive me if it's a dumb question but do they care what you drive? I'm sure they look at your assets and outstanding loans but not sure what else. In about 2 years I'm sure to know all about it when DD goes through it.

Lala - I don't think I mentioned the Boston Symphony before. Just one of the many fabulous things DD and DH are doing on their trip. I do hoist the 70 pounds over my head but am wishing now we had a weight bench. If we had a bigger house I'd get one but we don't so I'm stuck.

Heartymax - I'm going to have to cut back to 3 sets next week when I'm back to work, too. That's the only thing I don't like about Meso 3 so far. I like lifting heavy but the longer rests make the workouts so LONG.

Did STS 26 Plyo Legs this morning. I like that she slowed the plyo moves down. Makes it much more doable. I'm definitely going to have DOMS tomorrow though!

Talked to DH last night. He and DD are both tired. Today's supposed to be a busy, long day including a tour of Central Park and Ground Zero, a boat ride and a Broadway show (Memphis).

Got to get outside! It's SUNNY for the first time in days. :D The cats are even happy to see the sun. They're both sprawled out next to each other (sometimes they fight) in a sunbeam right now. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello Ladies,

I took the day off today, it sure is nice outside. Sure is nice outside. :D DD18 is at a track meet, and DD14 is at her friends house. I'm enjoying some time by myself. Got Chest, shoulders & triceps in, and then I watched the Royal Wedding. I loved her dress, so pretty.

Lala, That is what this vehicle will be is used. :D It only has 20,000 miles, and fully loaded with leather seats. It was nice to drive also.

heartymax, Almost done with those STS workouts?

Sue, It just seems that when it rains it pours. Just having to get two loans one right after the other. And we where looking at having our morgage refinanced, because the rates are better right now than what we have. It just seems not to end. :D

Have a great day!
