Good morning ladies!!!! Can you tell I'm pumped up?
What a fantastic experience! I will say that I am quite sore... but not as much as I thought I would be.
Here are the workouts I did this weekend
:
Friday- Cathe called it and Afterburn-ish workout. It was structured the same as Afterburn, but with a little impact mixed in and some new moves, like lateral walking plie squats... those added up fast! We did yoga in the evening, it was like a mix of her Max and Relax videos.
Saturday- Workout #1 was kickboxing and a little sliding and gliding. This was the most fun workout of the weekend in my opinion. She invited groups of six to jump up on stage with her, so I got to "hook and upper" right up there with Cathe!
Workout #2 was total body conditioning. This was mostly upper body since out lower body was still very sore. It started with a little cardio, and then moved on to very fast-paced, hi-rep strength. We only used five pound weights and tubing, and my shoulders and triceps are still sore. My heart rate was up the whole time because we were moving so quickly. We did some ab work at the end of this one, including a new move where you hold weights above your shoulders as you lower to the floor, do a pullover while lying down, then, as you lift the weights you sit up and do a shoulder press when you come to the top. I really liked that one. Cathe says it feels much different wiith heavier weights.
Workout #3 was lower body blast! My goodness, this was tough! I was a sweaty, sweaty mess! She threw in some floorwork at the end, but my rear and hamstrings were so spent by then I could hardly complete any of it.
Sunday- Bootcamp. This was mostly running. We ran in circles around the very large room, alternating running with walking, and she had a sprinting a few times too. We also snaked back and forth over the whole room which took a long time. She divided us into two groups and we did walking lunges and bounding across the room as well as sprinting to the middle and running back to our side. To finish we gathered in a circle around Cathe, and she had people come up and tell her which moves to do. We did terminator thrusts, power scissors, football runs, and even my dreaded plie jacks.
I couldn't believe that I got through Sunday's workout, I was so sore when I woke up, and even during the warm up I thought I wouldn't make it. But by the end I felt fantastic (and very tired!) Cathe got all choked up during the cool down, and when we were all done she took the time to give each of us a big sweaty hug.
The rest of the weekend was great, too. I met a very nice lady named Brenda who said she used to be part of the Buff Badgers! I worked out by her all weekend except for Sunday, because she had to leave early. I talked to a bunch of other people too, and everyone was very nice and encouraging. I was particularly inspired by the women there who looked much, much older than me and were in better shape, as well as the women who were still working toward a weight loss goal, but could hang in there with the rest of us. I got teared up just thinking about them on the way home because I know when I was heavy, there was no way I would've had the guts to go on a road trip. They inspired me very much and reminded me that Cathe is about fitness, not about vanity.
I cried when I actually got a minute to talk to Cathe when she signed Imax2 for me
.... she was very gracious about it. I got a couple pictures with her that I'll have to post at some point. I was really impressed with her the whole weekend. During the Q&A session she really took the time to answer questions in detail and seemed like she was enjoying the time with us.
She had all of her videos for sale and I bought CTX for only $27 and KPC for only $20! Everything was at least five dollars cheaper than normal price. All the FeelFitWear stuff was there too. It was tempting, and the fabric felt wonderful, but I couldn't justify the price for clothing I'd pretty mcuh just wear in my basement. I think I'll have to watch the website for sales though.
I belong to a very small Facebook group called Staying Motivated that's just a few of my college and high school friends, and I gushed about Cathe so much on there that one of them bought three of her dvds last night! So, I must've been pretty gushy and excited
I'm a bundle of nerves right now because my baby brother is in Boston running the marathon as I type. I got the text that his half-marathon split was 1:21:10. He's going at a slower pace than last year, but he had to recalculate his goals because it is 88 and sunny there today. They were even offering deferments to run it next year instead since that weather can be so hard on distance runners. I hope he's okay. I don't care about his time, just want him to be safe. He promised he'd drop out if he started to feel really bad.
Have a great day everyone... sorry for the long post
