Buff Badgers Week of April 16th

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

I saw the pictures from the Road Trip last weekend are available. It was so neat seeing pictures of myself and Sam in there.

Today was a cardio day for me and I went with Amy Bento's Advanced Step Challenge 2. Her step workouts are good but it usually takes me a few times to get her step moves because they can be a little tricky.

Sue - wow - you had an awesome workout!! Like the combination of workouts you used. Majority of the time when I do Athletic Step I do the warm-up and cardio from the original bootcamp and then do AS (minus the warm-up).

Heartymax - I love cardio fusion. I usually do that one on the weekend and do the mix and max premix.

Susan - do you like Jillian's workouts? I am contemplating trying some of them but I'm not sure how she is as a trainer on tape. I talked to Sam about that over the weekend and she said that she does do some of her yelling like she did on the Biggest Loser. I'm not sure if I want to listen to that. If the workouts are really good, I could probably block it out.

Make it a great day!!
Brenda

Brenda - Thanks for the encouragement. I agree about those low pulses in MM. At least changing the weight from side to side distracts me. I read the Forum over my lunch break, too.

Heartymax - I'm glad you and your husband are both enjoying the elliptical. I always forget about the Cardio Fusion dvd. I think I've used it once maybe?

Susan - I like Jillian's 30 Day Shred more than Ripped in 30 so far. DH has always known me for working out, too, although all I did when we met was jog at the Y. No weights. I didn't want to wait around for the weight machines. So glad I can workout at home and don't have to wait for anything!

Okay, so I need your guys' opinion. DH signed up himself, DD17 and DS15 for the Miller Lite Ride for the Arts. I think the kids are doing 50 miles and DH is doing the 75 mile one. He didn't sign me up because I wasn't there and didn't know if I'd be interested. 50 miles sounds like a lot if you're not bicycling regularly. Am I wrong about that? He goes Spinning twice a week and rode a lot when he was younger so he thinks it's no big deal. DD has a rehearsal and then Finals to study for later that day so I'm thinking it's not a good idea for her to do 50. Not sure about DS. The ride starts at 7 a.m. which is ridiculously early, too. Am I just a whiner or what? I guess I wish he would have consulted me before he did this but they were at the Wheel and Sprocket show getting new bikes for the kids which they desperately needed and probably got all caught up in the hype. I'll probably have to signup now, too, which is okay. It'll be fun - it just feels a litlte forced on me. I only want to do 25 miles though. That's plenty.

Last night I did Musclemax Upper Body Push Pull premix 35 min. plus the core section and this morning I did the Lower Body premix 23 min. Okay, so I had 2 good days in a row with eating well (not perfect but that's more sustainable for me) and working out. Need to keep this streak going.

Good afternoon ladies. I haven't worked out yet today, waiting for DS to be ready for his nap. I also have to figure out what to do with the dog while I do it... or if I do something upstairs so I don't have to crate him. Same old problem. I could take him in the basement if it were puppy-proofed, but it's not *sigh*.

I guess everyone's in a Muscle Max state of mind these days-- that's what I was planning on doing, one of the upper body premixes. No workout yesterday. Too much cooking, work, and meetings.

Brenda- Pictures from the RT are on Flickr! Check em' out! I posted a few of myself on FB and my friends reacted a little more strongly than I thought. I guess they haven't seen me in a few years... I was actually pretty embarrassed about it. Jillian's workouts are great! But her chatter does get to me. It's not so much what she's saying, it's that she says so much and once I get it memorized it drives me nuts. But I'm like that about any instructor that talks about non-workout related things (ahem... Leslie Sansone, but I do her stuff sometimes too!).

Sue- What a fun mix of stuff! I bet you were flying high after that workout. Congrats on the good days of eating. I finally had a good one yesterday. I've not been doing my best with eating either, and even yesterday I succumbed to some leftover Easter candy. I wish I could give you some sort of opinion on the Ride for the Arts, but my knowledge of bicycling is very limited. 50 miles may as well be 100 to me.

Heartymax- Cardio Fusion is so much fun. Laurie was kind enough to sell me her copy a few months ago, and I love that it combines two of my favorite step routines. :D

Susan- Hmmm... you got me thinking about how my DH sees me. I've dabbled in workout videos since he and I got together, but it didn't become a hobby and a true passion until I found Cathe. I'm thinking he sometimes wonders what happened to the woman he married! He knows I'm much happier now, though.

Hi Laurie! I hope you're feeling better!

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Friday ladies! This morning was GS back, biceps and shoulders. I hope I don't have as many DOMS as I did earlier this week. This weekend will be GS Chest and Triceps and elliptical on Saturday and GS Legs on Sunday cause I got to work the legs at least once a week with this rotation too.

Sue---WTG on getting in your workouts. Keep it going.

Susan---I have Shred and ---when I do it , I normally do two levels in order to get a really good workout.

Brenda---I tried the Mix and Match premix of Cardio Fusion for the first time last week. That was one tough cardio workout---but so much fun.

Laurie---I hope you are feeling better!

Hi Sam! I enjoyed looking at the pics from the RT on flickr too. Looks like everyone had a blast.

Good morning! I ended up doing all of Muscle Max yesterday instead of just a premix. Felt great. My biceps and chest are really feeling it today. I'm making a real effort to lift heavier. Those ladies on the RT put me to shame.

Today I'll do some sort of step. I think I'm craving Step Blast or the step only from Body Max 2... It's been over a week since I did any step and I'm starting to get twtichy :p

Heartymax- I was watching all the GS clips last night on my computer. I think They're going to be my next purchase. I don't have the funds for STS quite yet, but I need to start building some muscle!

My friend that tried Cathe because of me was blown away with KPC and couldn't finish it. I told her not to be discouraged and keep going. In my opinion, she actually did really awesome for someone who's never done Cathe's workouts before.

We're celebrating DS's birthday tomorrow with family. I'm attempting to decorate a cake, and we still have to go shopping tonight. I also have to clean... it's just family, right? No reason to stress.

Have a great weekend!

Sam - Hope you find a step workout today to satisfy your twitch! :) KPC is a killer workout so tell your friend being able to complete even a portion of it is a huge accomplishment. Definitely a workout to grow with. What kind of cake are you making for DS? Are you one of those people who can decorate a cake and make it look like a professional did it? I hate those people - just kidding! I am envious of people's talent who do that though.

Heartymax - In my experience, it's always the first workout that gives you the worst DOMS when you start a new workout so if you did GS earlier in the week, you're probably okay. (Or maybe I start out all gun ho and then tailor back subconsciously the next time.)

Brenda - People seem to either love or hate Jillian - there's little in-between. I've listened to her Podcasts in the past so I know her from that and her personality is completely different from BL. Her workouts are good so it depends whether or not she irritates you.

Hi to everyone else and hope you are staying dry!

TGIF! I'm a little bummed I have to work on Sunday but it's only for a few hours.

Did 10 Pound Slimdown Extreme Yoga 40 min. last night. I haven't done yoga in months so I was surprised at how well I did with the balancing poses. Another early morning for me so no workout yet. The streak continues and I feel thinner already. I've been eating greek yogurt for my morning snack and that helps keep me satisfied until lunch. I like the yummy kind with the fruit on the bottom.

Happy Happy Friday!!

This morning I felt like doing a circuit workout and went with High Step Challenge. It has those hover squats in that I love to hate. Cathe is so nice that she saves them until the end. A good fast paced workout.

Sue - keep up the good work on the workouts!! You've been doing some real good ones.

Heartymax - you are on a GS roll. That is a tough series.

Sam - don't let anyone put you to shame. Be proud of your accomplishments. Everyone's body is different. I feel that my strength is pretty good but when it comes to the endurance side of things, I wish I could do better. I have improved over the years but still feel it's lacking. You shouldn't be embarrassed about the pics from the RT, you were focused and working hard. I got a kick out of seeing us in the pics. I hope you all have fun on your DS bday.

Tomorrow I'm thinking Cardio Supersets from the Low Impact Series. Not sure how much I'll get on over the weekend. My weekends are usually pretty busy. In case I don't get out here over the weekend, everyone have a great weekend!

Take Care!
Brenda

Just popping in quick to report that I did the Cardio Timesaver Premix from Body Max 2... completely forgetting how much the cardio in that one slays me. Not sure why? And, I do it on 6" instead of 8", and all the way down to 4" for the blasts. Ugh.

Brenda- No worries, my Facebook friends were actually being very complimentary, I just wasn't expecting so much attention. I guess I shouldn't put stuff on the internet then

Sue- We will find out tomorrow if I'm one of those people! I bought a "blank" cake from the store so at least I don't have to worry about baking.

Happy Friday!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

I've had a pretty busy Saturday. Started out at 3:30am in the basement doing Cardio Super Sets and step the step blasts. Wasn't sure how the workout was going to go since I woke up with a headache. Took something right away and thankfully it kicked in right away and took the edge off because I ended up having a pretty good workout. After eating breakfast, getting my bedding in the washer, cleaning up, and getting supper in the slow cooker, I headed out for my weekly grocery shopping. Once I got back home then I went down by my parents house (they live right next door to me) and cleaned their house. Met my DH for lunch and then went outside to work on cleaning up my flower beds. Decided to call it quits at 4pm. I was getting cold and all stuffed up.

Thought I'd check in and see if anyone was online today.

Sam - I hope the cake decorating is going well. I'm sure you're busy getting ready for DS bday. You'll have to share some pics with us.

Have a great weekend!
Brenda

Hi Brenda! I am tired just reading about all you have done today. We usually check in Monday through Friday. I read forum on weekends to though but I am not sure about the others.

This morning was a 40 minute elliptical interval cardio workout. I had a lot errands and a hair appt. I am tired.
