Morning BB's,

Today will be HC Extreme #3. Didn't have the meeting yesterday, they cancelled it. Yipee!! Got my workout in before I was dead on my feet.

Wasn't too bad coming in to work this morning. Guess we will see what it is like on the way home tonight! x( My DH is finally getting me new tires on my vehicle. He actually had the fun of driving my van, and having the tires not grip in the snow. Then he said OK so you really do need tires. :( Why they don't listen in the first place!!!!

Sarah, to answer your question on the Turbo Jams. I like them when I plan on having a light day. I like the music and the work out is good low impact. The things I don't like are she isn't very good at cueing early enough, and some of the moves are too fast. The 20 min. workout and the Ab Jam work out are my favs.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hello BBs!

No workout this morning, I got up early and came to work to avoid the big rush in the snow. You are right Laurie, not too bad driving in to work today. It is supposed to snow all day though, hopefully our dives home with be ok as well. I got my car back from the body shop yesterday (hit a deer a few weeks ago) and am quite relieved! That loaner had pretty poor tires!

I am doing better with eating and exercising than last week, but still feel kind of in a slump. Sometimes (like now) the fun factor of my workouts go away and it seems like a huge chore. Anyone have this happen to them? How do you deal and get back on track?

Good morning from snowy East Troy!! Driving my DS to school today was an adventure. We already have at LEAST 3" out here you guys. Being this far West of the lake makes a big difference for sure. I will need to go snowblow the drive soon, and ds will have to do it again tonight. It doesn't work too well when the snow is taller than the snowblower! DS 13 didn't have school cuz he goes to Lakeland in Elkhorn. They are always first to close school because it serves the whole county and almost everyone comes via bus.

I finally did my workout last night at 6pm! I don't like working out at night, but my days have been too busy to take a lunch break and get it over with. I mean enjoy a workout LOL

Thea I have been in that slump for MONTHS and cant' seem to get out of it. I can only seem to get one factor right at a time; my eating is clean but I'm not working out, or I'm working out and my eating stinks. I am going to join an online weight loss challenge that starts after the holidays. Hopefully that will get me motivated again.

Good morning Laurie and all to follow! Hope you all get home safely today!
Jill

Good morning,

Today I did Boot Camp. Thea, I've been in kind of a slump for the last few weeks. I just haven't been motivated to do much so I've been taking more rest days than I usually do. I used to be able to work out four or five or six days in a row; lately two in a row is about my limit. I'm mainly just trying to get myself back into a routine and am trying to mix up my workouts more. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself about the lengths of my workouts and am trying not to worry too much about my weight — I'm hoping to maintain my weight while I'm in this low period. Anyway, I'm not much help... I mainly try not to go more than two days between workouts. I usually get restless anyway if I rest longer than that.

So it looks like all the schools surrounding Madison were already closed first thing this morning. I am dreading the drive to MATC tonight. Last week when we had just those couple of inches of snow, it took me almost an hour to get there, when it normally takes about 15 minutes. I don't know what to expect tonight if the snow is bad. Unfortunately, I have an exam, so I can't choose not to go! What's with these professors giving regular tests five days before finals? :)

Take care,

Ellen

Ellen, I'm just trying not to gain, too. I am such a statistic. Lost 35 pounds 2 years ago and have gained 30 of it back. UGH! How did I let this happen?? Well I know actually but no excuses! I weigh 20 pounds more now than I did last December and you'd think that would get me back on track but noooooooooo. Now I have to start all over again!

Sorry to get off track and vent so much. I'm just really disappointed in myself, you know? It's so easy to gain and so hard to lose! Actually I don't really mean that. I don't find it that hard to LOSE. What's hard for me is to not re-gain. I have been up and down so much in my life. I know my metabolism is just crap lol.

Maybe your MATC class will get cancelled. I heard the snow might stop later morning, but will start up again this afternoon. I really need to get outside and snowblow the drive!

I did Power Hour last night from a taped FitTV version. I didn't realize it didn't include shoulders or triceps (some of my favorite muscles to work). It just had legs, back, chest, biceps and abs. I guess I don't know what I expected - with commercial breaks, etc. You can hardly fit the whole hour in! Duh on me. Looks like I'll just HAVE to have the DVD! I tellya, though, I can't go NEARLY as heavy as Cathe. The quick and varying speeds of reps - holy cow - no way. My biceps are like flabby toothpicks and all those reps about fried me.

Tonight the rotation calls for MIC. I've done that one a million times, and I pretty much always feel like quitting after the hi/lo! I think Cathe says something like "Don't forget we've got all that STEPPING to do next!" I always think "Ack!" x(

The snow was heavy when I first came to work, and now it's pretty light. No school closings so far. It sounds like it's pretty much supposed to snow all day, so I guess we'll have a pile by the time all is said and done.

I'm constantly on and off weight loss/exerise. I have the same 10 pounds I lose and gain. My double chin and jeans pretty much tell me I have to do SOMETHING. As a full-time working Mom, my biggest challenge is finding the time to work-out. As a night owl, I can't face dragging out of bed early, so I usually have to fit it in while I park my son in front of some kind of electronic media (videos, computer games). He begs me to work out so he can get some TV crack - "Mommy, don't you want to WORK OUT today???" Sigh!

Sarah-LMAO @ "tv crack". OMG that is so funny, and so true! Another online friend of mine was just saying she can't wait until her DS is a little older and gets interested in tv/movies so she can at least get some treadmill time in!

I just cleared our driveway. I swear it takes longer to get my snow gear on than it does to actually snowblow!

Jill,

I know how you feel, but don't beat yourself up about it! You know how to take care of yourself, and you know that you can get back into your workouts when you're ready. You're conscious of it, you know there's work to do, and that's what matters, right? I'm the same way... I gain a few pounds and then am so angry with myself, and that just makes me feel worse. Do the workouts you can when you're even slightly motivated, and gradually it'll become a habit again, and it will become something you look forward to again. When I'm thinking clearly and not just telling myself that "I'm just lazy," I try to remember that tomorrow is another day, another chance to start over. :)

TV crack

Jill - yeah, my DH and I used to be pretty TV restrictive, etc, but lately we've kind of given in and treat it as a little mental vacation time for all of us. Gives us time to do what we need to do, and my son Henry can do something he enjoys with all of his heart, LOL. That kid loves him some Looney Toons and Reader Rabbit. And when you have a 4 year old BEGGING you to work out, it's hard to justify sitting on your can!

Good job clearing the driveway. :) I like to put on my DH's HUGE parka . I have zero peripheral vision in it and it's the toastiest thing ever. I think I could get hit by a bus or something wearing it, though, because the hood sticks out so far on the sides that I have to turn my body completely to see from side to side. Yay for super warm coats!

RE: TV crack

Sarah - TV "crack" is pretty funny.:) When they get older it's PC crack, video game crack, etc. We try to restrict our kids "screen time" (anything with a screen) by making them do their checklists first (e.g. make their bed, do homework) but it's hard. You'll probably think we're really mean but we don't have a Nintendo or XBox because then it'd be even worse and video games are the worst things for kids with ADD like mine...

I'm back at work today. DD feels a little better but not 100%. I did GS Chest/Triceps. I LOVE the way this workout works my muscles to failure! }( Triceps will be screaming at me tomorrow again.

Ellen - I don't struggle with the motivational issue as much as the "I just feel like taking it easy today" issue. For example, I haven't done MIC since I can't remember. Why? Because it's tough! I'm also struggling to lose about 20 pounds. I know I need to make up my mind to just do it but I take "feel like taking it easy" attitude with food, too and eat whatever I want. Then I wonder why the scale's not moving.x( Sure, my thyroid has something to do with it but I can't blame it entirely. It's a constant struggle for me...

Well I sure am chatty today. Better get back to work. Hope to make it home by midnight! ;-)

RE: TV crack

Sue - I don't think you're mean! My husband and I share the concern about screen time, sitting on butts, not using imagination, etc. I fear the video game/X-box time because I know Henry will probably REALLY want one, and we're going to have to decide if we're going to go down that path or not. I feel like if we do it will be a constant battle to limit the time that he's "zoned out" playing it. :-(
