Buff Badgers Monday

Hello!

Good Monday morning to everyone. Hope your weekends were nice! I had to work but it wasn't too terrible.

Okay Badgers, I am so mad at myself. I had a rough week last week with exercise (just laziness) so I was all ready to go this morning. Got up to do HSC. About 3/4 of the way through I stumbled over my barbell, rolled my ankle and the rest is history. I fell down and bruised by butt on a dumbbell as well. Now, my ankle is all swollen. I tried to walk it off but ended up just doing the upper body stuff and abs. It's strange, it didn't swell at all until I got here to work but I am on my feet a lot so maybe that is why. I can walk pretty well, that doesn't hurt. It's moving my foot side to side or flexing or pointing that hurts. It's not bruised just a bit swollen. I am debating if I need to have it looked at today....it's my mom's birthday and I am supposed to go over there after work. I am off work tomorrow, maybe I'll see what it's like in the morning and have it looked at if I need to. I took some Advil---should I ice it? I am just angry at myself and my klutziness. I was even careful to keep my weights out of the way and clear of my step.

I hope you are all having better workouts than I am today!

Hello BB's,

I will be doing MIC and Seg 2 of Coremax tonight.

Had a great weekend, the weather was great! The wasps are all about and getting really bad. Most of the first aid calls at faire are for stings.

On Friday we won our volleyball match, so we are the champions!! Apparently we will be getting T-Shirts.

Thea, sorry to hear about your ankle. I have landed funny off of my step, but have never hurt myself. Take it easy and keep us posted.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hello everybody.
Thea, I'm sorry to hear about your ankle! I'm no expert, but I'd say that if it's swollen, it probably wouldn't hurt to ice it.

I thought I was going to get up early and exercise today, but I didn't sleep well at all last night so I reset my alarm and stayed in bed a little later than normal. I had to take my car for service this morning, so it's been a busy day, with this being my first day back at work as well. I'm hoping to find the motivation to work out this evening, but I'm pretty tired and my allergies have been worse than ever! How's that for complaints? :) Anyway, if I do anything it'll probably be weight work only. I ordered the DVD with Body Max on it yesterday, so I'm planning to start the August rotation next Monday. We'll see how long I last with it.

Have a great day,
ellen

Thea - sorry to hear about your ankle. I hope it isn't serious. I have been in a slump too. I work out in the morning but lately sleep is winning out.

Hi Everyone! I am not here that much and haven't had much to post workout wise. I like Cathe but not exclusively so spend more time over at VF. Today should be the release date for Turbo Jam and can't wait to get home tonight.

Thea - Don't feel bad. I rolled my ankle on a PEBBLE in the parking lot at work! How klutzy is that!!! It felt fine at first but I woke up that night and it was throbbing. Since you're a nurse I'm sure you know all about RICE. Hope you feel better soon!

Lynn - If I remember correctly you live in Waukesha, right? What school do your kids go to. You can PM or email me if you prefer.

Back at work today - ugh! I was REALLY enjoying sleeping in late and doing a late morning workout rather than my usual 5:30 a.m. stuff.

On Saturday I did Hardcore Extreme Hi/Lo Intervals. Sunday was supposed to be a rest day but then I remembered I have a dentist appt. before work on Tuesday and unless I get up at 4:00 a.m. like Marie;-) I'd have to make it a rest day. So, instead of resting I did High Step Challenge. Today I did Hippahips version of Lowmax today (the one with add-ons of squats, lunges, leg presses after each blast). I liked the active recovery instead of pausing the DVD player and marching in place like I have to do sometimes;-) Tomorrow is rest day (ahhhhh!).

I haven't weighed myself for a few days because I was getting discouraged with the number not changing. The pants I'm wearing today are definitely loser though. I think the HC Fat Blast rotation is doing it. That - and my focus on diet.

Have a great day!

Sue

Hello there,
I am back from my vacation...I had a bad week of eating what ever I wanted and I only did some light exercises during the week likw walking and 2 days of stationary biking. I feel like I gain some pounds and lost some muscle but today it was back to Cathe. I did interval 1-4 of Lowmax, the ab section from cardio and weights, and I decided to do the one body part a day rotation so I did back today.

Thea-Ice your ankle then after a day of icing a couple time a day for no more than 20 min, you can use heat. You also should keep the foot elevated and rest it. You can also use a compression bangage to wrap it to keep the ankle more stable. I hope your mom has a great b-day. I hope to see you both soon.

I hope everyone has a great day

Hi Jedi! I missed "seeing" you here. I hope you had a nice vacation. Sounds like you're back on track today!

Thanks for the advice on the ankle. So...I should ice it today and maybe tomorrow, 20 min at a time, then try heat? I was thinking of getting a wrap or bandage after work today. Any idea how long I rest it? I am trying to stay off of it but it's hard here at work since I run around all day, luckily I am not too busy today and off tomorrow. I am going to go crazy not being able to workout, so hopefully it heals quickly! Thanks again!

Talk to you soon!--Thea

Hey BBs.

I've been a slug...I know! "Shakeubooty Sue" has reminded me repeatedly to chime in once in a while, but my children control my life! (Of course, this means I don't HAVE ONE!!!)

(For those who don't know, I've got a 3-year-old and a 1 1/2 year old. My hands are quite full.)

ANYWAY...

I *JUST* (as in last night) took a look at the August Boot Camp rotation...WHOA! I'm thinking that is going to be impossible to do! I'm pretty jazzed up about it, though...I may just give it a 'go.' Did any of you give it a try? (You may have discussed this already, but I wouldn't know, since I've been such a slug!)

I hear those of you that went to Houlihan's had a great time. Sorry I missed that.
:( Can we schedule another one??? :p

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR WORKOUTS TODAY!

:) Meecher

Good evening badgers! Sorry I'm so late to the party. Monday is my day at the office and it's always crazy. Didn't get my workout done until 8pm-ugh. This weekend I really kicked it up. I did Low Max Step premix and 1/2 of Legs & Glutes on Sat. Then I did Firm Bss3 Complete Body Sculpting and the other 1/2 of L&G, plus 35 minutes of Step it Strong with Keli Roberts on Sunday. My legs were very tired last night, but not too sore today. I did WHFN Steamin' Cardio this evening.

Thea-oh dear. As someone who has sprained both ankles multiple times, I will predict that you will be somewhat out of commission for at least a month. No Cathe step for awhile I'm afraid. Ice is good. I'm so sorry-I really know how you feel. Doc probably can't do a thing either-they usually just give you a boot thingy that doesn't do anything but keep it straight. If you don't have one you might want to go, or at least get one at a drugstore. They sell them for about $30. They go up to about mid-calf, and have metal bars on each side, to keep your ankle in place. I highly recommend this--it's very helpful to keep it straight. And elevate whenever you can.

Laurie-oh those wasps are terrible aren't they! They always build a nest under my deck. This year they built one under the shelf of my gas grill!

Ellen-that's how I feel every morning! I can't tell you how many nights I set my alarm early.....only to reset it in the morning. I'm just not an early exerciser I suppose.

Marie-I do a lot of other stuff, too. I did Cathe exclusively for almost 4 months last year and learned my lesson. The continuous intensity really wore me down, and I couldn't look at her for 3 months! Now I do other stuff, too, but am faithful to Cathe and keep her workouts on my rotation at least 3 times a week.

Sue-I think LM is enough leg work as it is, thank you very much. LOL. Good job on the loose pants! I'm still waiting to see some loss here, after being on WW for a month. So far I'm exactly where I was when I started. :(

Jedi-welcome back from vacation. Where did you go? Hope you had a great time. It's not easy getting back into the "real life" routine.

Meecher-welcome! Wow you DO Have your hand full! Are you a SAHM? If so you probably burn a lot of calories just chasing after them lol. We did have fun at Houlihan's and I'm definitely interested in another get together. I believe Laurie is doing the August rotation, and doing it well!

Where's Robin been anyway? Did I miss her saying she'd be gone?

I'm doing better on my eating plan. I think I'm finally over the "OMG I can eat carbs" phase lol. I think I've been eating too many starchy carbs and drinking too many alcoholic drinks. So I've cut back on both the last few days and am already feeling better. I'm kicking up the exercise (too scared to commit to the Aug. challenge lol). I'm crossing my fingers.

Night everyone! Enjoy the nice, cool sleeping weather!
