Good afternoon! Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a good time at my mom's 80th. all 6 sibs were there and all but 2 nieces/nephews. Lots of pics. DD17, DH and I drove. Chicago on the way home was stop and stop! But those going to CHI from WI had it much worse. Traffic backed up just about to Rockford...no kidding!

Today I biked to the clinic for an appt, skated and am about to do 4DS UB, not sure which part, tho. Oh, BTW, did NOTHING this weekend...OK, I ate ;)

Laurie, how was the Ren Ed meeting? I bet the kids were enthralled with the outfits!

Susan, that would be great for you to get a job at the fitness center! What kind of school shoes are you looking for?

Sue, so, how was the solo weekend? Did you regroup and relax??

Karen, How was the museum? What kind is it? How did the kids do at home alone? That is always a bit nerve-wracking....at least the first time!

Lala - DH and the kids got stuck in Chicago traffic yesterday, too. They were so proud they missed it Thursday a.m. on the way there. Glad it was a good birthday for your mom. 80 is a big milestone.

Susan - A job at that health club sounds perfect for you.

Hi, Karen and Laurie!

Here's how my weekend went:

Friday - Viper

Saturday - Gilad on Exercise TV + 2 mile walk

Sunday - Prevention FCF cardio + 1 mile Leslie

Mnday - No More Trouble Zones

Had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Went to see Time Traveler's Wife and cryed my eyes out. That was pretty much the theme for the weekend. I watched City of Angels and a few other movies I can't remember. All romance movies, all made me cry. Call me strange but I love a good cry. DH and the kids didn't get home until 8 last night. They were tired from all the driving and staying up until 2 a.m. the night before. The kids get to sleep in today at least. DH will be hurting this week trying to play catch up with the sleep.

HI there!

Lala, glad you enjoyed the weekend and got to see family! Sorry about that ride home though!:( I have brothers that live in the Chicago area and DH and I always dread the drive to visit them!

Sue, so you liked Time Traveler's Wife? My DD12 would like to see that, what do you think? I was thinking of you while my lovely family was driving me nuts this weekend! Wishing I could be alone for just a day! LOL!:p

Saturday I walked for 40mn, ellipitcal for 30mn, Pilates for 50mn.

Sunday: ZERO! I was so tired and had errands to run with DS so I was lazy.

Today was walk, elliptical (HIIT program)followed by Slow/Heavy Chest & Back. I am going to alternate S/H & pilates days now. Decided I needed to buff up my upper body mostly. I want more definition and know I need to lift heavy to get it. What results have you ladies gotten when you have used S/H?

Have a great day! Susan

Susan - Time Travelers had male and female nudity from the back and scenes where they're in bed together. There's a brief fight scene and some scenes with blood. No swearing. If she's not easily embarassed by the love scenes then I think she'd be okay with seeing this movie. I want to read the book now!

By yesterday afternoon I was starting to miss my family and glad when they made it home safely. :D

Morning All,

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. :( No workout for me on Monday, because I was just to dang tired. This morning was KCM's 30MTF Kickboxing #2 and a 20 min. run. Tonight I will be getting my hair colored and trimmed. Youngest DD has to get her picture and registration done tonight also. :p She starts school on the 1st, and oldest on the 2nd. Dang did that come up fast. Oldest DD started CC yesterday, and she said the only problem she had was the humidity. We really have not had to deal with that until yesterday. Today should be better for her.

Lala, The Ren event was pretty good. The children where all around 3-8 years old. The youngest ones had a blast learning to dance, while the parents sat and watched. And yes I was touched by many many sticky fingers. :D Oh how I just LOVE the traffic on the weekends. It is just crazy slow when you get around Madison. Glad you had a great time at the party.

Sue, Oh now I know not to watch that movie. I know I will be doing the crying thing also. ;) Great workouts you are doing.

Susan, I have not done S&H in years. I have good intentions to do them, but get so bored that I stop. :( I have found that my body is different, and likes the endurance type weight workouts.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Good Morning,

Went running with the two boys on Sat., Sun. did Kettlebell Way 1, Mon. took off and today i did STS disk 4 chest/bi/shoulders.

My family followed us back up here so it has been very busy. Thought I'd try to get on her quick and say hi.

Susan, i love S/H. When I used it I got great results. Love how heavy weight work gets me looking the way I want. Neat a health club is coming to your area. I would love to work at one.

Sue, you got lots of good workouts in and watched some neat movies. I love the movie City of Angels. Those are the kinds of movies I like also. Glad your family made it back and gave you enough alone time to miss them.

Lala, glad you made it back safely and had a nice time. You got a lot of exercise in yesterday. Isn't it amazing if we just quit using our cars how much we can fit in. The kids did fine at home. A few probs with the dog and my DD getting it in the kennel but other than that it worked out well. DD6 enjoyed her time at the museum, lots of neat buffalos, birds etc.

Have to get going my parent's and brother and SIL and neice are here.

Have a great day.

Hi there! Today my girlfriend and I took our kids to the zoo in Green Bay! We had a really nice time. Lots of walking!:p I am going to be doing Pilates on the Go in just a bit. Right now I am just starting to feel those DOMS in my chest from S/H! Hope it doesn't get any worse! Oh well, I just keep thinking of the muscle I am building!

DS has his first official football practice tonight. I am hoping DH is home to take him! He said he might have to work late... It's 90mn long!

Karen, enjoy your family!

Laurie, my kids go back on the 1st as well. It's coming up fast!

Good night! Susan

Morning All,

Today was TM's Quick Cardio Total Body Blast A&B, Lower Body Blast A&B, Abs Blast A&B.

Karen, Have a great time with your family. How long will they be visiting with you?

Susan, All the activities starting up again. ;) DD16 was karted to school for an evening practice yesterday, and then expected us to just stop waiting in line for DD12's registration. DH and DD12 where at the last station (locker and schedule). :D We didn't get home until about 8pm last night.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi everyone!

Susan - Haven't been to a zoo in ages. That sounds like fun.

Laurie - You sure are having a "blast" lately with your workouts (pun intended).

Karen - I never answered your question on Slow & Heavy. I've found the same thing as Laurie - that endurance workouts work better for my body. I do enjoy lifting heavy every once in a while though, like this morning with PUB.

Didn't get a chance to checkin yesterday. Busy day - 2 Dr. appts. for DD, school registration for DS and DD, ordered new glasses for DD (lost in Indy last weekend), some back to school shopping, DD's Marching Band uniform fitting, DS to football practice and a 1 1/2 hour nap! Not in that order. ;) Didn't get home until 8 last night and then had to make dinner. DH and I went for a 2 mile walk after that.

Tired this morning and slow to get moving. I did PUB Up premix (chest, back and shoulders). Hope to do tris, bis and abs tonight but we have meetings from 6-8 at the high school and then I need to pickup kids from the dance at 9:30 - if I can stay awake that late!

Hey gang! Today I did the elliptical (Extreme HR) for 30mn followed by S/H Bi/Tri's/ABS. One word to say: OUCH! I know I have done S/H in the past but quit after about 3 weeks, I hope to stick to it this time around!

Today DS had to go to the dentist then we had to go to Charter to pick up digital cable boxes and a new modem. I then proceeded to switch cable to the boxes but I still need to change our internet service over.

I know my body generally prefers endurance strength so I am "shocking" it by switching it to S/H. Hoping to get more buff before the new health club opens up! :p

See you later! Susan

Hi all. today was KickMax. Yesterday I did 4DS chest, tris, shoulders and a skate, and finished mowing the lawn!

Laurie, Susan, and Sue, oh, those pre-back to school days :( Now that I have only one left in HS, she pretty much takes care of all of that. I´m BTS next week. Start with students on the 1st. With all that you guys are getting good workouts!

Susan, that´s funny that you want to get buff BEFORE the fitness center opens;) but then, you already are, so you want to get buffer or is it more buff??

Karen, Have fun with your family

Morning All,

Today I just couldn't resist working out with Jillian. So NMTZ is now done. :D

Sue, LOL about the blast pun! :p Oh, so sorry to hear that your DD lost her glasses. :( You sure did have one busy evening. Wonder how anyone would be able to get in a vacation just before school starts with all the registrations and activities that start up.

Susan, Keep on shocking that body! :D You will be surprised at all the buff bodies that will show up at the gym. And not all of them are guys. :) I am heading to the gym tonight to get on the bike. I'm hoping to try a spinning class. They are suppose to have some better hours once school starts.

Lala, Oldest DD is like that with her school stuff. Youngest was just so dang timid, but then again she is going from a small school setting into a total class of around 400 students. She will be getting Spanish in the 2nd 3rd of school.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Susan - You are already a buff bod but shocking the system is definitely a good idea. Shocking my system would be getting a workout in of any sort! :(

Laurie - You know what my favorite part of NMTZ is? Finishing the 2nd set of those surrenders! :D The rest of the workout seems easy once I get past those. DD's class is about 400, too. Only 25% of her middle school go to this high school so lots of new faces. Being in Marching Band helps a lot with meeting new kids.

No time to workout last light. :( Had 5 min. after work to quickly eat a sandwich and then was at the high school from 5-10 p.m. dropping off DS for football practice, in parent meetings until 8:45 and then hanging around for the dance to end so I could drive DD and her friends home. I could have gone home after the meetings for about 10 min. but where's the sense in that when gas is $2.62 per gallon?

Tired this morning. No workout. Grumpy. I need endorphins stat! Marching Band and football practice tonight. Hopefully I can talk DH into being the chauffeur.

Take care.

Just finished High Step Training Cardio and UB premix. On a whim I went throught my closet to get rid of clothes I don't wear and figure out what I *need* to buy;) That helps me get into the Back to school mood!

Sue, you do know that chocolate gives you endorphins, right ;):D Choices, choices!

Laurie, your DD has a big class. DD17 has a class of almost 400, but that one and the one behind them are the biggest in a while, and from there, the numbers go down. I'm sure she'll adapt well.

Hi Karen and Susan!

Hi there! I have been spending most of the morning switiching us over to a new ISP and figuring stuff out. DH is lucky to have a wife who is somewhat computer savy!

I am heading down to do Pilates Max. DS was up at 5am this morning and never went back to sleep! He is going to be tired after his football practice!

Sue, I understand your need for endorphins! I need an IV pumpin' caffeine in me today!:)

Laurie, is NMTZ advanced? Is it as hard as her others?

Lala, have fun buying new clothes!

Bye! Susan

Morning All,

Todays workout was Jillians Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism. :D

Sue, Did you talk your DH into being the chauffer last night? ;) Those surrenders are tough, but oh so effective. I think that being involved in something at school is a great way for being social. ;) I don't know what my youngest is going to do, because she doesn't seem to want to be involved in anything.

Lala, Ya got to love cleaning out that closet. I need to do that again, because I swear that I have NOTHING to wear.:D Chocolate! MMMMMMMMM.......

Susan, I wish I was more computer savy. :( Collage rates NMTZ as Intermediate, and I would agree with them. You use light weights with high reps, which is what she does in the Shred. Now I put a but on this, because you really feel the workout in your shoulders/abs/legs after you are finished. Everything is done in a circuit, so you end up doing two sets of every exercise. Because she incorporates your legs with an upper body exercise, you get a cardio affect with it also. This would be good if you wanted to get a total body weight workout into your rotation, but didn't want to get killed in the process. If you want to know how the breakdown of this workout here is a link that someone wrote up on VF. http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=137277

Have a great day!

Laurie

Howdy! I am hoping the rain stops so I can get the lawn mowed some time! It just keeps on raining and the grass keeps on growin'!

Today was elliptical for 30 (Random-Killer! progrm), followed by S/H Legs & Shoulders. My shoulders are my weakest part so they were burning! Funny thing is my shoulders are also my most defined bosy part, yet the hardest to train!

Laurie, thanks for the link. It looks pretty good so I may have to try it out! Looks like cooler weather is coming for the weekend!

Have a great day ladies!

Susan

Yea Friday! Oh, but that means my last free weekend before I *have* to report to school (I've been going in here and there and working a lot at home).
Today was a 3.5 mi run...felt good! Used CC3

Susan...oh the rain :( The grass grows like it was June:( Hope you can get the mowing in!

Laurie, How many more weekend of the faire?

Hi Karen and Sue...enjoy your weekend!!

Lala - Chocolate! Of course, why didn't I think of that. ;) I made brownies last night which were SO GOOD - nice and warm and gooey from the oven. Yummy! Enjoy your last weekend of summer vacation!

Laurie - Yes I did get DH to chauffeur last night but I was tired and just felt like sitting on my duff last night. I need my decompression time at the end of the day and I didn't get it this week with all the school activities.

Susan - Good job switching over your ISP! I'm "supposed" to be computer-savvy seeing as how it's my profession and all but to be honest, I know very little about pcs. We're so specialized nowadays that it's impossible to know it all. Your shoulders are probably not used to being worked heavy since you'e been doing mainly endurance workouts, right? It'll get easier in no time.

Hi Karen!

Glad this week is almost over! No workout this morning again which means I haven't worked out since Tuesday morning when I did 1/2 of PUB Up premix. Not good. Going to have to kick butt this weekend to make up for it. Wish I could leave work right now and do Bodymax2. That's the plan for tonight. DS has 2 football scrimmages tomorrow. He's starting as right guard.
