BUFF BADGERS 7/20 - 7/24

Cathlete
Hello there! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Ours was busy as we had a soccer tournament Friday and Saturday. They did alright, won 2 out of 3 but then were eliminated. DS didn't care cause he's all excited about football now! I bought all his gear and he won't take it off! LOL! Sunday was church, cleaning and groceries. I went and bought a ton of veggies, fruits, lean proteins. As soon as I got home I washed and chopped all the veggies and melons and put them in clear plastic containers so it's easy to grab and go! Too bad it has to cost so much to eat healthy though!

Saturday I did pilates for an hour and Sunday was an off day. I am super busy this week with my DD taking a technology course at the University about 45mn from here. On top of basbeball games, practices and appointments! I am going to squeeze in what I can when I can! Today was a 40mn walk, CTX Kickbox cardio, then I hope to do pilates for buns and thighs later.

Have a great day! Susan:D

Morning All,

Another 3 days of the 30 Day Shred Level 2 are done, so 5 more on this level. I also got in an Interval run this morning too. Must say that it was easier doing the workout this morning than last week. Guess my body is getting used to the constant walking/standing. :D When I started level 2 I have to admit that is was a killer. Now that I have 5 days done, it is getting easier. I can't believe I am going to say this, but I enjoy plank jacks and plank jumps. Really!

Had another great weekend, even though all of you where probably not enjoying the cold, it was wonderful for us. :p

Laurie

I just added Lala's to the thread... We had three of them going.

Morning All! I was AWOL the end of last week finishing my paper...which did get done and sent :D So happy:D:D I think I'm done with classes for a year...a little sabbatical for me! I almost don't know what it's like to not have a class to take after I teach!

Sounds like you all got lots done. Karen, DD6 is awesome...2.5mi in 31 minutes! There is a fun run here this weekend I'll probably do.

Laurie you're dress ROCKS! I'm sure you're loving the cooler weather! How long does the faire last? My family and I love to go to those, so maybe we'll get to yours! You are getting great results with Jillian. How long are her workouts?

Susan, Let us know about Tosca's book. Eating clean is the hardest thing for me, but then I'm not so sure I'm willing or ready to give up certain things.
Soccer is done now! so you get a little break til football. I imagine practice for that starts soon.

Sue, sounds like you are really liking the KBs. Are they more awkward than DBs? Does the Prevention fight cellulite work? Also you've probably told me before but what is RTTc?

I'm scheduled for GS CT and will probably either skate or swim. I downloaded a rotation but don't remember which one...looks like it's heavy on the GS!

Have a great day...should be warm:cool:

Laurie - You're right - I did NOT like the cold! Especially Friday night during DS' baseball game. I came right from work so I wasn't dressed for the weather. DD and I huddled together on the bleachers because she wasn't dressed warmly enough either and then she retreated to the car for the last inning.

Lala - RTTC is Ripped to the Core. I haven't really used my kettlebells yet. Last weekend was busy so I didn't get a chance to buy a lighter one and go through the tutorials on Lauren Brooks' website that Karen mentioned. I don't know yet if Fight Cellulite Fast works but it sure gives me a good workout with no dread factor. Have fun skating or swimming. GS can wait. Do these things now while you can!

Here's how my weekend went:

Friday night: PowerMax
Saturday: Jillian's BFBM - Yeah! I did all the standing mountain climbers! :)
Sunday: Jillian's NMTZ
Monday: Leslie 4 Fast Miles - First time doing this workout. I liked it even better than 5 Fat Burning Miles.

I gained a little weight on vacation (too much Mackinac Island fudge) but now it's off and my clothes are fitting better. I credit eating better (goodbye HFCS and diet soda) and the circuit workouts I've been doing.

Saw my mom yesterday. She is now almost fully recovered from her fall on Mother's Day. A few changes were made around her house to prevent future incidents so hopefully that'll help her stay in her house a few more years.

Have a great day!

Hi,

Today I did 30 Day Shred all three levels. Did Kettlebell Way 1 yesterday and a bit of biking with my DD6 and DS11.

Sue, glad your mom is doing better and can stay in her home a while longer. You got some nice workouts in. Glad I didn't have to sit outside in the cold this weekend.

Laurie, glad you enjoyed the colder weather and your legs are feeling good after all that standing. I have to get more runs in but they have a dread factor for me now. So the way to use Shred is to do 5 days on each level? I didn't know that.

susan, sounds like you have a busy week ahead of you. Hope you continue to get some good workouts in. Lots of pilates:) I guess I see kickboxing in there too.:):) Glad DS team did so well in the soccer game. why is DD taking a class?

Lala, congrats on getting your paper done. No more work for you, now it's just play time. Have fun in the run if you do it. GS are fun. I have to start adding them in again.

Just got back from swimming lessons. The older boys have been working on wood since they woke up. DS15 starts soccer practice for the H.S. already tonight.

Take care and enjoy your day.

HI again!

Lala, I really like the Eat Clean book. I have always known how to "eat clean". However, having the book cleared up a few things. Plus she had grocery lists that I printed out. She has varios "cooler plans" depending on whether your trying to lose or maintain.

Today before I ran around, I packed my cooler with fresh broccoli, cauliflower, slices of turkey and low fat cheese plus my water bottle. It was nice! Now to keep it up!

Laurie, I am still waiting for 30 Day to come in from the library! You sure have me excited though!;)

Sue, is was cold and rainy here on Friday during DS soccer game. DH and I were huddled up under the umbrella but somehow I still managed to get wet!

Karen, DD is taking courses called "GirlTech". During the week she'll learn computer graphics, robotics, electronic welding, police officer training, computer animation etc... Since she wants to be a robotics engineer when she grown up she is very excited. She had a lot of fun today!

Have a great night! Susan

Morning All,

Another day of Level 2 Shred and CTX Kickbox cardio and arm drills are done. :)

Susan, LOL about your DS wanting to keep that football gear on. :D Glad he is so excited. WTG on packing that cooler, that is a great idea. ;) I am impressed with what is happening to my body with doing one Shred workout, and adding my running and kickboxing. I am going to be changing my Thursdays to a bike workout instead of kb. It is so great that your DD already knows what she wants to do. :)

Lala, Thanks for the compliment on the dress. We have 7 weekends left of the faire, and right now it seems like a long time. It will be over before we know it. Would love if you could get to our faire sometime. The 30 Day Shred has three workouts that are about 27 min each. That includes warm up and stretch. Burn Fat Boost Metabolism and No More Trouble Zones are both around 50 min with of course the warm up cool down. She has other workouts, but I don't have those. Congrats on getting that paper finished.

Sue, Those standing mountain climbers are killers! In Level 2 of the Shred she says that she wants us to feel like we are dying. That is how those standing MC's feel. WTG on getting those extra pounds off. Glad your Mom is better also. You are very brave to sit there in that cold, I would have been with your DD in the car. :D

Karen, Jillian says to do one level of the Shred (starting with level 1), and do that level until you feel you can move on to the next. I have decided to do 10 days of each level. Some people rotate each level, or just do level 2 and 3 for the 30 days. It all depends on what you want to do. I'm impressed with your workout yesterday! I too had a point where I didn't want to run anymore. I think it was the fact that the runs where getting to long and boring. Now I'm just doing 20-30 min runs and that's it. :D

Have a great day everyone,

Laurie

Howdy! Popping in quick while I can!:D I am really hoping my new pilates dvd comes today! But if it doesn't I think I'll do Pyramid Upper. I walked this morning for 40mn. DS has his last baseball game tonight! Yoo Hoo!!:D

DH and I were hoping for a quiet August but them work told him he will be needing to do 12 hour days and weekends!! :( We are going to try and see if we can sneak up to the cabin before it gets too crazy, not this weekend but next!

After I pick up DD later, I am taking kids to mini-golf and go kart racing. Will work out when I get home!

Since starting this clean eating thing I am down 3 pounds. Yeah, it's just water but at least it's gone!:p

Laurie, I asked my librarian yesterday when I could expect Shred to be in and she said not until probably Friday! :( Oh well, I have something to look forward to for the weekend! Bring it on Jillian!

BYE!! Susan

Hi, girls! Quick update because I wasted most of my lunch reading the trainwreck going on in the OD forum. OMG those ladies are nasty!

No workout yet today. Planning to do Shred #1 and probably something else tonight. Going to Six Flags tomorrow so I won't be around.

Karen - You did all 3 Shred levels yesterday! WOW! You are my idol.

Susan - You have a better library system than we do if you have workouts like Shred. What a great way to try out a workout.

Hi, Lala and Laurie!

Hi! today was GS legs. Those STS plyo must be doing their thing, because this didn´t feel as tough as it used to...wait til tomorrow! Then 1 1/2 hrs. of lawn mowing.

Susan, I think I might try to get the Shred through our library, too, what a good idea! Hope you can make it up to your cabin.

Laurie, I like the idea of short workouts. The more comments I read it seems like this is the way to go.

Sue, have fun at six flags! Hope the weather holds out.

Karen, enjoy your day!

Hi BB's,

Today I am going on our group tandem ride. Not much in the mood today.

Lala, those plyo legs workouts are great aren't they? Have fun with mowmax.

Sue, have fun at Six Flags. I missed the OD discussion you were so enthrawled with.

Susan, you have a great library system. Hope you get to relax at your cabin sometime this summer. To bad DH has to work so much. Have fun at the last baseball game.

Laurie, thanks for the info on Shred. I'll try one at at a time with added cardio. Nice variety of cardio you are getting in. You don't do much step anymore do you?

Take care. Off to get ready for the bike ride.

Morning All,

Today was Shred Level 2 and a 25 min. run on the TM (rain). :)

Susan, Did you get your new pilates workout? ;) I have been able to eat pretty clean during the week, but my weekends are hard. We want to take the girls go-kart racing, and of course mini golf. Most of the places that DH and I used to go to when we where dating are closed. :(

Sue, Hope the rain didn't affect your six flags day. The Waukesha library system has some workouts, but not ones that I want to try. They do have the three new Jillian workouts though. :D

Lala, I am more motivated to workout when I know the workout will be done in 20-30 min. Is this me getting lazy? :D

Karen, I have not done a step workout in months. I wrenched my knee at one time, and when I try a step workout it starts to hurt. I think it might be the twisting. Not that I didn't have fun with the workouts. :( LOL about mowmax! I was weedmaxing yesterday after work. I know bad bad pun!

Have a great day!

Laurie

Just got back from a 4.5 mi run. And I was right about GS legs...I sure felt it today...in the glutes and calves! We have had no rain...well I guess it rained last night, but right now it´s beautiful...finally.

Laurie, I don´t think it´s you getting lazy, just smarter ;)

Karen, hope you enjoy the tandem ride...if you´re in the back you can cheat a little, no?

Susan, did you get your pilates DVD?

Hi Sue!

Hi gals,

We went 54 miles last night in 2 1/2 hours and 20.5 miles per hour average. Lots of hills.

Lala, can't work less in the back because I pedals go around together so if his go around, mine have to go the same speed. Nice run today. You are getting some serious miles in.

Laurie, sorry about your knee. Nice job staying with Shred so long. I can't do the same dvd over and over.

Hi Sue and Susan. Susan, hope your pilates dvd came.

Have to get my workout in yet. Had to watch the tour and take the kids to swimming lessons. I will do NMTZ today and I'll see if I feel like a run.

Take care.

:)Hey Ho!!:D

Nope, the pilates dvd did not arrive but Shred came in early! ;) So, I ran to the library and picked it up yesterday! And last night I did Shred Level 2. Laurie, I have to say I was very surprised how rough it was! I was sweating buckets in just 20 minutes! I will say Jillian is not my favorite instructor and sometimes I wonder if she knows how to count, but I did like the workout.

SO, today I did Shred level 3 cause I felt like punishing myself!:p It was a doozy! I will say I actually felt kind of sick by the time it was over! Very good workout! I do think I will have to purchase this for myself! Still hoping the pilates one will show up today though!

Minigolf was fun (I won!):p Kids didnot want to wait in line for Go-karts so we went and played in the huge game room they had. Today we were going to go to a zoo but it was too rainy. Maybe tomorrow!

Laurie, yeah, the true test of my clean-eating program will definetly be this weekend!:) The nice thing is I do not have to avoid carbs(like on South Beach). I can eat my oatmeal, my wheat bread etc.. I just avoid eating them late in the day now.

Lala, great run today!

Karen, you guys were really moving last night! Wow!!

Have a great night! Susan

Morning All,

Only Level 2 of Shred done so far. Doggie daycare day, so wanted to get on the road earlier. Dang was that dog happy to be there. Probably get in a longer kickboxing workout after work.

Lala, GS Legs is really a killer workout on the glutes and calves. Hmmmm could it be those low lunges!!

Karen, WOW on the bike! I'm surprised at myself for doing these workout for 17 days straight. When I was doing P90X I got so sick of those workouts by the end. I think alot of it has to do with the time commitment, 27 min. and I'm done! :D

Susan, I love my carbs too, just had oatmeal this morning. :) I still am sweating buckets doing level 2 of Shred. I can see my endurance improve with each day, and I'm able to up the intensity to make it harder. I love going faster or higher than Natalie (adv exerciser). Funny part is she cheats in all of the levels. She does kickboxing workouts for Exercise TV on Demand. Makes you wonder how good they really are. :D

Sue, Did you have a great time at Six Flags?

Edited to Add: I almost forgot to tell you all this gossip that DH told me last night. Do you remember me telling you about this guy who was giving DH so many problems last year, and DH ended up kicking him out of our guilde. Well he ended up getting a divorce from his wife this winter. His ex-wife got remarried and is now pregnant. I was totally shocked at how quickly this happened!

Have a wonderful day,

Laurie

Hi!:)

I need to get my chores done this morning and then workout later! I plan to do ellipitcal and then (fingers crossed) my new pialtes dvd - if it comes!! If not, I think I'll do Shred 2 after the elliptical.

Did not go to the zoo yesterday so we are going today. Have never been to this one but have heard it's very nice, small but nice. I just want to pet the pigs in the petting zoo. I LOVE PIGS!:p

Laurie, glad your doggy loves the day care. We have a neighbor that takes her dog there 2 times a week as well. She has a black lab with a lot of energy to burn! Intersting about the gossip! Makes ya wonder!

Have a great day! Susan

Hi,

Today I ran 7 miles.

Susan, glad you had fun mini golfing. Way to go beating your kids. Sounds like you enjoyed Shred. Have fun at the Zoo today. Pigs hugh? Why not. Did you get your pilates dvd yet or did you suffer with Jillian?

Laurie, glad your doggie likes daycare so much. Have fun with your kickboxing workout? Which one did you pick?

Hi Lala, and Sue.

DS15 sprained his ankle running the complex for soccer last night so he is going to rest his ankle and go back tomorrow--hopefully.

Have a great day. Off to make chocolate cookies.

Karen, way to go on that 7 miles! Woo Hoo!! :D Sorry to hear DS hurt himself! I hope it heals quickly!

As for me, I do not have any motivation today! We got home from the Zoo (which was fun) and now I am so pooped! I think it's all the walking and the heat! ;) So, I do not feel like doing anything very strenuous, well, anything at all really! :p I don't know what I will do! Nope, the dvd did not come today! I swear they attached it to a snail's back and sent it on its way! LOL!

Bye! Susan

Laurie - Thanks for the heads up on Waukesha library's dvd collection. It's been a while since I looked and I can't reserve anything anyway until I go there in person and pay my 50 cents in late fees!

Karen - 54 miles on bike and 7 miles running - WOW! Have you thought about doing a triathlon or the other -lon (the one without the swimming)? Hope DS' ankle is better soon. My DH was feeling his after walking around all day at Six Flags.

Susan - Shred is tough but it sure makes me feel like I'm getting the job done. Haven't done that one for a while, Been sticking to #1 so you're very brave to jump to #2 and #3 right away.

Our day at Six Flags turned out okay. It was hot and sticky in the morning so when the rain came around noon it actually felt good. It only drizzled - no downpours - but I heard they shutdown some of the rides temporarily. We scurried indoors to the indoor rollercoaster (don't waste your time if you go). By 2:00 the rain was over but a little cool outside. Thank goodness I brought a sweatshirt along. By late afternoon the sun came out and it was really nice. Not a lot of cars in the parking lot but the lines were still long. Didn't get home until 9:30 last night so no workout other than tons of walking. Time to head home now and hopefully get a workout in.

Have a good night!
