Bringing up the Rear Check-In

Today I did GS Legs and Ab Circuits weights and plates. I really felt the floor work in my glutes!

Carolyn sometimes I notice I tense my neck when I'm doing certain exercises mainly ab work but what comes to mind as possibilities could be hand position on the barbell, shrugging your shoulders or tensing your neck.

Today I decided to take a rest day. I think my muscles needed a break from yesterdays all out effort on the weights. It was a heat wave this morning at 25.

Carolyn It could be your tensing your neck as Amanda said when you have the barbell there. Do you think it is when you hold the bar in front or in back? I don’t know if it helps but I always try to think “shoulders down away from my neck”. Hope you figure it out so it doesn’t happen anymore.

Amanda Um no, I am not loving this cold weather! This is crazy and I am so ready for Spring which is still 49 days away!!!

Hi guys ,
Well , I can't believe how long it's been since I checked in here - but I had had something really weird happen to me . Last Tuesday night I just totally fainted - more than once . My best friend was here and I guess I got dehydrated but I'm not sure why it was so bad .She staid with me until Sunday just to make sure I was getting better. And , I am much better now [ even worked out LIGHTLY the last 2 days ] but it sort of shook me up . I saw my Acupuncturist [ I don't have a GP right now ] and he said the my blood pressure is really low and of course I have to drink like crazy . Anyway , I'll catch up on all of your posts tomorrow [ I'm off work for the week ] and I sure hope everyone is okay ! I'm sure you're all freezing !

Oh no Kate! I hope you're feeling better; that must have been scary! I was wondering where you've been but thought you just got busy, take it easy and get better!

Today I did GS Chest and Triceps and 1x25 HT at 90 and 2x20 at 90 held the last one for 20 sec.

This morning I did Get Glutes: HT 2x5@215,225, 1x20@135; 1-arm body row 3x8; step up/lunge combo 3x8@20; DB shoulder press 3x12@20; firewalkers 3x10 each way; sb toe taps 3x10; side lying hip raise 2x10 and added on some farmer’s walks and extra back work.

Kate Oh I am so sorry you went through that. That is very scary. So glad you were not alone when it happened. Do keep drinking plenty of water and get rehydrated.

This morning I did Get Glutes bodyweight and bands workout and added on All Out Low Impact Hiit.

We are supposed to get hit with another storm tonight. So far they are saying 5-7 inches of snow and possible snow/sleet/ice conditions. I might regret saying this but I would rather have -9 degree temps than snow. 47 days to Spring.

Today I did Cardio Leg Blast and 3x 30 @ 90 gbs. Then a bunch of cooking and cleaning and watched a depressing Super Bowl....was hoping for a Broncos win.

Saturday I did Pedal Power Extreme premix and then DH and I stayed inside the rest of the day. I really wanted to get my errands done but apparently the weather had different plans for us. We got several inches of snow on top of ice and the roads were not passable at all. Sunday I started Month 5 of Get Glutes: AHT 2x8@205, 1x20@135; goblet squat 3x8@35; wide stand good morning 3x8@45; x-band walks 3x45 seconds; pullups 2x5; hindu pushups 2x8; side plank raises 2x16 and added on extra back work (lat pulldowns, face pulls, cable rows). After that, we ran our errands and then went to my mom’s. She adopted a dog yesterday so we went over there to help her get her dog settled and make sure she would get along with my dogs. Then it was off to watch the Super Bowl. I got to bed really late so no workout this morning. Will be back at it tomorrow.

Carolyn I really like CSS with the step portion too. Sorry it made your knee feel bad the next day. Do you know what exercise might have done it?

Amanda 90 pounds for that high rep just blows me away! You are awesome with those. I am not much of a football fan but I wanted the Broncos to win too and cannot believe it was such a blow out.

Today I did Flex Train and 2x30 GB at 95 and 1x20 GB at 95.
Julie I wonder if I should up my weight and do less reps...but I don't feel it in my glutes until 10 in or so but by the end I have a deep burn! My glutes and legs are tired after yesterday and today, got some good DOMS.
What kind of dog did your mom get? Did your dogs get along with the new dog?
Another snow storm is coming, tomorrow into Wednesday we're supposed to get 6-10 inches eek this winter is never ending.

Carolyn What's a gentle leader? Is that the leash I've seen that looks like it's in the dog's mouth?

This morning I did Get Glutes: HT 3x8@205 ss w/ 1-arm bench press 3x8@35,30,30 (deceivingly hard); squat 3x8@105 ss w/ 1-arm row 3x8@40; ADL 3x8@85 ss w/ band seated abductions 3x20. I also did Horizontal Conditioning Getting Stronger Workout 2. It was mostly triceps pushups, dips, side planks, lunges and 1-leg squats.

Carolyn Well my results so far have been that I really enjoy these workouts. I feel like I have more definition in my upper body and my butt has lifted a little (DH said I definitely do not have a flat butt). I don’t feel like I have gotten dramatic results but that is probably more due to my eating than the workouts. If I could eat better, I imagine my results would be so much better. My mom got a boxer mix. Her name at the shelter was Athena but my mom changed it to Sweetheart.

Amanda You could try upping the weight. When I do heavy glute bridges for low reps, I don’t feel it either but when I lighten up and do higher reps I get that burn like you said. Everyone is different though so it might be worth trying. My mom got a boxer mix and she is a definite sweetheart as my mom is calling her that now. She does get along with my dogs. I am right there with you feeling like winter is never going to end. Not looking forward to more snow.:(

This morning I didn’t do anything. I really should have done something. I had no excuses for not working out other than I think I just have the winter blahs right now. We got so much snow last night (about 8 inches) they delayed my office opening until 11. So I spent 2 hours driving into work on bad roads just to work 4 hours. I think I am nuts.

Stay safe in all this crazy winter storm weather!
 
Today I did Pyramid upper body but skipped the abs since I did abs the last two days :p

I hadn't done LL&A either since I got it I think; it was good and goes by fast. I'm going to do B&G tomorrow...thank you Carolyn!

We got about 6 inches of snow over last night and tonight it's supposed to get really cold again -10.

That's a lot of shoveling Carolyn I hope your back is okay!

This morning I did Get Glutes: SLHT w/5 sec pause at top 3x10 ss w/ double standing hip abduction 3x10; Pendlay rows 3x6@65 ss w/military press 3x8@45; RDL w/abduction 2x10@20 ss w/hanging frog raise w/rotation.

Carolyn No need to workout when you did 2 hours of shoveling. That can be quite the workout in itself! I hope your back feels better today.

Amanda The drive home was better but I still can’t wait until Spring when I won’t have to worry about them at all. Hope you are staying warm.

This morning I decided to mix it up a bit. I realized I had been doing the same cardio workouts for a few months. Today I went for something different and did High Step Challenge. I switched out the plié squats for feet elevated glute bridges and my butt was on fire. Of course the hover squats at the end are killer too.

I didn't check in yesterday because I didn't do a w/o ha ha! I have stomach issues and I've had them yesterday and today so I'm giving my body a rest....always seem to pop up when I start getting on a good roll makes me mad!

Today I did Butts and Guts after that I did 3x20 HT @ 105-BURN. After the floor work of B&G and then HT my glutes were on fire! I'm sure I'll be feeling some DOMS tomorrow.

We're getting more snow it's really accumulating quickly right now I think we got about 2 inches just while I was working out!

So no workout on Saturday. DH and I had too many errands to run. Sunday I did Get Glutes plus additional back work. Then I stayed up late studying for an industry exam for work that I had this morning. Needless to say no work out this morning. I did pass my exam though.

Carolyn You will get there again on those pushups. Keep doing upper body trisets with all those pushups and you will get there fast! Oh I hope you feel better. Maybe the nap would help. I am not a napper either so I understand.

Amanda Glad you got to feeling better so soon. How cute that your son worked out with you. I bet he enjoyed 4DS Bootcamp. I always feel like I am back in school PE with that one.
