I know I'm kind of upset about Homeland too! So are you thinking Brody may be coming back next season? I can't imagine the show without all three. I'm not sure if I feel the attraction thing between Quinn and Carrie either but I think he really cares about her and would do anything for her so maybe they're going that way?? What do you think is going to happen with the baby?

This morning I did Cycle Max. I should have picked something that would have kept me warm this morning even after my shower. It was -2 with a wind chill of -12 when I left for work. If I forgot to say it before, I’ll say it now: I HATE COLD WEATHER! It took about 20 minutes for my toes to thaw out after I got to work. I just calculated the number of days until Spring and am depressed. Ok rant over. Merry Christmas Eve. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas as I probably won’t check in tomorrow.

Kate That sounds like a fun time with your friend. I hope you have your voice back. You did awesome keeping up with your workouts while she was there. My whole family and everyone at work thinks I am nuts for working out early morning too.

Amanda I am right there with you on just enjoying the treats right now knowing that I will get back on track after the holidays. This may be the first year I am not feeling so guilty over all these treats.

Today I did Slow and Heavy shoulders, superman's and planks; I'm going to do glute activation and band work later.

Julie-ahhh it's so cold I hate it! I can't remember when we've had a winter so cold...and winter technically just began (sorry).

You're doing Slow and Heavy too ! It can be torture but I'm really seeing results - and near constant DOMS ...
I don't know if Brody's coming back but after Saul and Carrie faked her time in the institution , anything is possible ! Did you notice that he held his breath the whole time he was hanging ? I think she'll have the baby girl [ I can see the red hair ! ] but I think her dad will watch her stateside - thank goodness . Carrie as a mother ???

I'll be joining you both with the treats in about an hour - I'm taking the dogs to mom's and staying overnight . We got a bit of snow but it's really pretty , at this point . I know you hate the cold - I'm sorry it's so bitter - that weather is no joke . Hang in there !
Today I did Flextrain for the first time . It was a nice total body w/o but I added X10's , X41 which is the low impact & the Fat burning circuit . I really modified the Fat burning into low impact and finally got to sweat - I felt I needed it today .
Yesterday was GG#4 , w/o#3 : Pulse Squats 1x10 @55 , 1x10 @65 , 1x10 @75 . Con. Deadlift :1x10 @95 , 1x10@105 , 1x10 @115 . 45* hyper [ sub. single leg bridging ] 2x20 each leg w/ 10 lb. weight in lap . Chin - up 2x5 . Narrow grip bench press 2x10 @55 . Long lever PPT plank 1x60 secs.

Carolyn- I like winter too and snow for Christmas. I don't like the bitter cold like we've had where it's like 2 outside with negative wind chill!! You're crazy you used to like to run in the winter?!?! Ice skating sounds fun; that was probably a good workout!

Kate-this is the first time I've done S&H; I'm already feeling some DOMS I had a little this morning from yesterday and now I feel even more from today. I thought it might be too slow for me sometimes I have ADD but I did like it. I didn't do the leg portion still resting my hip and I've yet to do the chest and back maybe later this week.
You did Flex Train and X41??? That's awesome! Did you like FT I think it's one of my favorites.

Yes it did seem like Brody was holding his breath....hmmmm
You're right anything is possible with that show! A little red haired girl :) I bet she does take her dad up on the offer.

Last night I did GG Month #4 , w/o #1 : Step ups 2x10 each leg . Jefferson Deadlift 1x8 , 2x5 each side @ 45 [ anyone else find these really awkward ? ] Single leg elevated HT 2x20 each side w/ 10 lb. weight on lap . Barbel American HT 1x10 @135 1x10 @145 1x10 @155 . Seated band abduction hold 5x20 sec. KB rack holds & overhead carries complex , 30 sec. rack , 30 sec. overhead 2 sets each side @ 15 lbs.

I did S&H Bi's and Tri's tonight and they're not getting any easier ! I thought the pace would drive me nuts too but I really like being able to work on form like this . It's so good that you're still resting your hip and when you feel ready , I think you might like the leg w/o because going that slow allows you to be careful about what you're doing . I really liked Flextrain - very easy on the joints and in time , I'll know the w/o better and move a bit faster . I added X41 because I was craving a sweatfest - and I got one !

I like the Winter too ! All the things that people hate - the dark and the extreme weather are kind of fun for me . I love storms ! Then when Spring comes , I get all happy about that too . I lived in L.A. for awhile and it just bored me . I want to hear about The Following ! Twisted is good in my book - and Kevin Bacon is sexy !

Hi everyone!
My family had a nice relaxing Christmas! I hope everyone else did too! I did a lot of cooking but I don't mind when I have the time...just hate the cleaning! I did fit in a short w/o yesterday, I did 30 minutes of Low Max. Every once in awhile I decide I want to do a step w/o and then I'm reminded how uncoordinated I am and I just cannot do routines. I like the step blasts and simple routines but anything more then that and I'm lost.

Today I did Pyramid Upper Body it's been awhile since I've done that, it moves so fast and I know I'm going to have some DOMS tomorrow!

Sorry about not posting. I have no excuses except being lazy. I did do Get Glutes on Wednesday, Drill Max on Thursday, and my last Get Glutes plus Tabatcise on Friday. I am off work until the 2nd so I used Thursday to do some things around the house and Friday DH and I cleaned the house and then ran errands. Since I am done with month 3 of Get Glutes, I am going to take a rest week this week and then start up month 4 on January 5.

Carolyn I don’t hate you for loving winter. I do think snow is beautiful as long as it stays off the roads. And I really don’t mind it when it is in the 30s and maybe even 20s but below 0 is just not for me. I tend to cover up with a blanket when it is 70 in the house. So glad to hear about Ellie. I hope this is the last 2 week stretch for you with the cone and treatment. It is hard to keep up a routine and work out when our routine gets messed up. You’ll get back to it.

Amanda Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas with your family. I am crazy and actually find doing dishes soothing. I know, like I said, crazy! I haven’t done Low Max in years.

Kate I tried the Jefferson Deadlifts on Wednesday after my regular GG workout. I really didn’t find them that awkward or at least not as awkward as I thought they would be. I had to play around my foot positioning a little to get comfortable with them.

Today is a much needed rest day . On Thurs. , Fri. and Sat . I did a Slow and Heavy on each day . I usually try to space them out over the week because I feel like all the muscle groups get a lot of isometric work even when I'm not specifically working them and the DOMS also seem to last longer too . That's my long winded way of saying I'm sore all week from S& H !

The Jefferson DL is hard for me because I have trouble getting my back arm behind my back leg and then squating low enough to grab the bar - it's a lack of ROM from my bad knee - I can't bend it much beyond 90 degrees . I don't like doing dishes but I find doing laundry soothing . Did you ever read , " Silence of the Lambs "? Clairese [ sp ? ] Starling finds it soothing too [ Ha ! Gives you some insight into my strange mind ! ] Looks like you'll be starting GG#4 on the same day I start GG#5 - it feels like it's time for a change ...

So happy about Ellie ! Looks like the end is in sight - you must be so relieved ! I think w/o breaks are really good - I'm always reminded of how much better I feel when I get back to them .

I'm so glad you had a nice and peaceful time with your family [ I hate doing dishes too ... ] In recent years , I've just gone over to my mom's and slept over , which I love . Other years , we traveled and saw my extended family in Iowa or Illinois and then had to recover from the vacation and that's a drag .
Anybody have New Years plans yet ? I'm supposed to go out but I never know how I'll feel until the last minute ...

Friday I started feeling icky and by Saturday morning I had a full blown cold. Scratchy, sore throat, runny nose, and achy body. I love sharing things with DH but he could have kept this to himself. I spent Saturday and Sunday doing nothing. This morning I wasn't achy but had a cough. I thought maybe cardio would help so I tried Part Rockin Step 1 for the first time. I made it through the warmup and first combo and the stopped. I decided to do something lighter so I did a bodyweight and bands workout from Get Glutes. So much better. I really felt my Glutes and I did not feel like I was overdoing it.

Carolyn It is just me, DH, and our two dogs so I don't have much that can throw my workout schedule off track. I have really been eating horribly which is probably not helping me get over my cold. I will get back on track with that though ... in a few days.

Kate The JDL does make you squat lower down to get the bar. I wonder if you could try raising the bar up by resting the plates on something. That might make it so you don't have to bend your knee as much. I have seen the movie but never read the book.

Julie I'm sorry to hear you're sick...I'm coming down with a cold too. My husband and son have been sick so I guess now it's my turn :(

Today I did Core Max...didn't feel like doing much but felt like I had to do something.

Carolyn you should try S&H it's a good one! I'm glad Ellie is doing better!

I've been all about the lazy fat fest too! :p I just tell myself after this week I'll get back on track. We still have one more family get together this weekend so the fest will have to continue... Oh well it's the holidays right!?!?

Step ups - 1x8 w/ 8's , 1x8 w/ 10's , 1x8 w/ 12's each side . Palloff walkouts 3x5 each side . Stability ball prone taps - 3x10 each side . Side lying hip raise 3x10 each side . Feeling DOMS everywhere this A.M. ....

Don't worry about the w/o's , it's really hard when family's around and your body may be telling you to take a break . Oh , I saw the movie ! When I first moved to L.A. I went by myself - it was playing at one of those enormous movie - plex things where 20 films play at once . I was so freaked out when I left that I couldn't find my car in the massive parking lot and was convinced somebody with a van was going to kill me ... !

Sorry you're sick ! I know how you feel - I'll always try to find a workout that seems doable too but be careful when you've got respiratory stuff - [ like I have to tell you - I know you know ] . With the JDL , I ended up holding the bar the whole time and just going as low as I could - that's probably cheating but ... oh well .

Carolyn I'm going to do the rotation starting Monday too! I've never done one of Cathe's monthly rotations before and I thought this one would be good. I'll probably take a break from GG and just do HT and GB's a couple of times a week. Hope your knee is better tomorrow.

Is the knee pain from LL CTX ? I haven't done that one yet but everyone talks about how tough it is . I'm so sorry ! Hopefully it's just a temporary flair - up . When I looked at the Jan . Rotation , it seemed like there was quite a bit of high impact , so be careful on Monday !

So Tuesday and Wednesday I still wasn’t feeling well and did not work out. This morning I tried waking up early to work out before going to work but just didn’t have it in me. I still am a little stuffed up and congested. I think I will be taking the rest of the week off and just start working out on Sunday. Hopefully I will be all cleared up by then.

Amanda I hope your cold doesn’t last long. Well anything more than a day is too long for me. I hardly ever get sick so this is really frustrating but I kind of blame myself. I have been eating poorly and I am sure that has not helped boost my immune system to fight this.

Kate I definitely don’t think holding the bar the whole time during the JDL is cheating. You are still doing the movement so it counts.

Carolyn I looked at the January rotation and was thinking I could integrate it with Get Glutes. Then I saw Cardio Core Circuit in there and that made me think twice. That is my dread workout. I have a few days to think about it since I won’t be starting anything till Sunday. So glad your knee is doing better.

Julie I've been eating poorly too; too many goodies! Hopefully we'll both be feeling better by the weekend.

I know what you mean about Cardio Core Circuits-I think I've only done that one a few times because I wasn't a huge fan of it. It's been a long time though so maybe I'll change my mind. It's only in the rotation once so I'll try to push through.

No workout to report I might do some glute activation and some stretches other then that I'll probably start fresh on Monday.

Yes, today I did Afterburn and Ab Circuits weights and plates. I only did the 1-10 premix of AB and that just about killed me :eek: I thought I would ease into it since I haven't been doing much for awhile.

It's so cold here today with the wind chill it felt like -40; totally ridiculous...but I didn't have to go to work! :p

You're doing awesome with GG Kate!
