Hi girls !
I had so much to do today that I did Cardio Supersets extreme at 5 am this morning - I may have to do this over the holidays . It's really great to get it out of the way !

Sorry about your hip ! It's smart of you to take time off . I know what you mean when you feel that twinge but it seems like no big deal so you press on - it always seems to catch up though , doesn't it ? The booty blast is the conditioning w/o after strength #3 , month #4 . It's just glute conditioning but you can do it pretty fast .

I did S&H legs last week but I was trying to be careful so I went really light - next time I'm going heavier but not 40 - 50 lbs. like Cathe [ at least not yet ... ] I'm glad Ellie's a little better but those bruises are the worst ! My dog did that to me over and over . It's hard to do those hammer lunges without a lot of impact - I'm glad your knee felt better !

I never do the GG conditioning - like you , I'd rather do Cathe cardio but I noticed this was just glute work . It was good to do since I had some DOMS from the day before . I have to watch that challenge too ! I'll bet we've all started to giggle from w/o pain , although I probably make the cry face more often !

Today I did shoulders and triceps from CTX and stretched. My hip feels much better today but I'm still going to give it a few days before I do cardio or lower body.

Thanks Kate; I haven't looked at month 4 yet I'll have to check out the booty blast I usually don't even look at the conditioning.

This morning I did Cardio Supersets + Step premix. Maggie was having coughing fits again last night. I think it might be because it is dry in our house. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good humidifier? We had an Air-o-Swiss but got rid of it because it would leave a white dust all over our house.

Carolyn Poor Ellie this is taking forever for her to get healed. I hope this is the last round of serum she has to go through poor girl. Poor you too with having to deal with bruised thighs. I am glad your knee was feeling better after CF and smart move to avoid those hammer lunges since you know they cause problems. I saw that email. That was crazy. If I read it right, she had that kind of transformation in like 4 or 6 months. Crazy! I am sure they will have another sale like the lifetime but maybe not for another year since they just did a few months ago.

Kate I may have to look at that conditioning workout. Sounds like it was a good one. Especially if your glute cramped up on you. I am not sure I giggle so much as make grunting/crying sounds when a workout gets hard.

Amanda Good move giving your hip more time to heal. I am terrible at that. If I wake up pain free, I go full force again and then wonder why I get constant aches and pains. Maybe one day I will be better about this.

I did S&H Legs and Shoulders today and pretty much kept up with Cathe's weight - she starts out w/ 50 lbs. and drops down to 40 pretty quickly and I stayed at 40 . It's a good one to do if you've got any knee issues because she goes so slow you get to work on form and there's zero impact .

I don't know any good humidifiers - if you can believe it , I keep pans of water on my heat stoves . Which is probably why my hair is stuck to the side of my face and up in the air all winter long ! I didn't get that email , which is weird . I'll have to poke around on the GG site .

Today I did chest, back and all step abs from CTX.

I bet Kate's right they might have a really good deal soon for New Years on GG memberships. This morning I did Get Glutes: lateral lunges 3x8@20, press/windmill 3x8@15, 1-leg dl 3x12@20 (holding onto something for balance), db row 3x8@26, ht 2x15@155 w/20 second hold on last rep. Then I tacked on 40/20. I had to stop some of the rounds a few seconds early but I didn’t have to take an extra breaks . So I am a little excited and a little nervous but I signed up for the Chicago RT! DH is not sure whether he is going to go with me since I won’t get to spend much time with him. Not sure how I feel about rooming with someone else.

Carolyn LOL on the Burt’s Bees addiction! The first step is admitting you have a problem  Humidifiers can have bacteria issues but if we don’t use one DH gets nose bleeds. Not fun to wake up to a bloody pillow.

Kate I think the email came from Bret’s site not Get Glutes. Check his blog on his site for the pics. It is crazy how this one woman’s glutes changed drastically in such little time.

Amanda We are supposed to get some yucky weather this afternoon and evening. Not sure if it will be up your way but if so, please be careful!

We're supposed to get over a foot of snow tonight ! That's on top of what we already had which was about 4 inches . It's been coming down steady since last night . My plans to see my friends got cancelled and I've been stuck at home .Yesterday I did Afterburn , bonus burn . It's Afterburn , then over 25 mins. of random repeats - it totally wiped me out ! Today I did GG month #4 w/o #3 : Pause Squats 1x10 @45 , 1x10@55 , 1x10 @65 . Conventional deadlift 1x10@ 95 , 1x10 @ 105 , 1x10 @115 . 45 degree Hyper - Bret said to sub w/ single leg bridging if you don't have a bench [ I NEED a bench ! ] 2x20 each leg . Chin ups [ again , had to sub pull ups under my desk ] 2x10 . Narrow grip barbel press 1x10 @45 , 2x10 @55 . Long lever PPT plank 1x30 sec.

I'm so sorry about Ellie . My heart sank when you said she's not acting herself . Lets keep a good thought though - dogs can make the most incredible comebacks . That's great about glute burn even if it's just for the day . I don't know about you but I feel it in the upper part of my glutes when I do leg raises on all fours with an ankle weight . I have yet to acquire the the ski jump though . In think genetics are in my way ...

Yep , we are the 4 glute obsessed girls - I keep thinking if I go heavy enough , my butt will have to round out eventually . I'll check out Bret's site !

Over Friday night into Saturday we got a lot of snow. Not sure it was quite a foot but maybe 7 inches. 7 inches too many in my opinion. Anyway, Saturday DH and I cleaned the house and then ran some errands. After that I spent the evening wrapping Christmas gifts and getting my cards ready to mail. Sunday I did Get Glutes: conventional dl 3x5@105,110,115, 2x3@125,135, 1x1@145, 1x3@125, 1x5@115 (I can’t go heavy on conv dl without throwing my low back out so I am doing a dynamic effort rep range recommended by Bret on GG), underhand bb row 3x8@88, walking lunges 3x20@20 dbs, 1-arm Arnold press 3x8@22, reverse hypers 3x20@bw, 100 Posterior pelvic tilt ht 1x100, body saw 2x12. Then DH and I had to go to his family get together for Christmas. I missed my lazy day Sunday but had fun with his family. This morning I did To The Max.

Carolyn I think back extensions hit my upper glutes the most. I can’t say for sure though since it has been awhile since I last did them but that seems right to me. That made me sad reading your first post about Ellie but I am glad to see her eye is opening up. That is hopefully a good sign. LOL on the snow cone!

Kate How are those pause squats? I was imagining they might be similar to Cathe’s sit-n-stands but without the sit. I know what you mean about going heavy. I see some of the weights that the girls on the GG forum and Marianne and Kellie lift and think I gotta be doing that. How’s the knee doing?

We got at least a foot but it looks like more to me - I had to force my doors open ! I wasn't plowed until Sunday because my road was impossible to drive up or down - a friend of mine tried to make it up and had to turn around . There's more coming tomorrow ! I did GG month#4 w/o #1 : Subbed step ups for TGU - On 16' platform , 2x10 each leg , Jefferson Deadlift 1x8 ,2x5 each side @45 ,Single leg foot elevated HT 3x15 . Barbell American HT 1x10 @135 ,1x10 @145 ,1x10 @155 . Renegade row/push up combo - Awful , just awful . I look like my hammock in a wind storm . Did 2x12 underhand barbell row @55 ,2x12 barbell chest press @55 instead . Seated band abduction hold 5x20 sec. Kettlebell rack hold & overhead carries complex: 2 sets each side @20 lbs. , 2 sets @ 15 .

Snow cone ! Go Ellie - this sounds like some good news [ maybe ??? ] I read on Bret's site that the side lying hip abduction isolates the upper glutes which makes sense - seems like the straight leg raises - sides and behind are the moves where I feel it too - pizza presses as well . I remember Buns of Steel ! I always hated all those high reps but here I am again doing them . My mom's butt is flat too . Whenever I tell her how hard I'm trying to work mine , she says , " Well , I never had one ! " Thanks Ma !

Your numbers on the Con. Deadilfts are awesome ! I got to 115 last week and that was tough . The pause squats will have a lot to do with your ROM , I think . Bret and co. go down to the ground but my left knee won't bend beyond 90 degrees so my squats aren't very deep .He seems to have a natural sticking point that he uses for the pause because he goes so low . Barbell squats are harder on my knee these days than using a DB's because I'm really trying to exaggerate sitting back on my heels . It's still a bit tricky .
They said up to 5 inches more snow tomorrow ...

You all are really getting clobbered with snow! We got about 4-5 inches on Saturday, then Sunday it was really cold! We're getting more snow right now but I think it's only supposed to be a couple of inches.

Carolyn- that's too funny about the snow cone; poor Ellie! How do you feel now that your nearing the end of SC?

Today I did High Reps upper body only; my hip still isn't 100% I still feel pain at some point everyday so I'm still going to take it easy for awhile and focus on upper body. Hopefully after this week I can start back up with lower body and cardio. I need to get those metabolic w/o's going again!

Looks like I'm staying home today - my road is already covered with snow and I haven't seen a car all morning . That's quite an accomplishment that you finished the SC program ! I think 3 months is really no time at all to learn about glute activation - it's more involved than it seems at first and the glutes ARE really lazy - at least mine are .

You're being so smart to take it easy on your hip . I know how you feel about missing the metabolic w/o's . Once you're ready , you'll really appreciated the low impact one's too !

This morning I did Pedal Power scrambled premix. I have had a hard time getting going these last two days. Not sure if it is the cold, snowy weather or the fact that my work week is crazy this week. I have so many meetings. I think I get about an hour of desk time each day to do my actual work.

Carolyn Definitely keep going on those ht after you’re done with strong curves. You can always throw in a few sets 2-3 times a week on your own. I hope your knee quits feeling funky. Oh yes firewalkers also make my upper/outer glute area scream. Sorry I don’t watch Homeland.

Kate LOL Hammock in a wind storm! You are too funny! I haven’t done that move yet but Marianne always makes everything look so easy and seamless. I think I am topped out on the conventional deadlift. I see it is in month 4 too and I think I am going to sub in sumo dl. I tend to feel that one more in my glutes and it is less pressure on my low back.

Amanda That is good that you are still going to rest your hip awhile longer. It is tough not being able to do what you want but you are doing great with keeping up on the upper body work.

This morning I did Get Glutes: 1-leg ht 3x12@15, close grip bp 3x8 (oops supposed to be 10)@75, zercher su 3x12@45 w/6 risers (probably highest I can go), Russian leg curls 2x5@bw, anti-rotation band hold 2x10 sec. I wasn’t having much energy this morning again. I think I need to take a mini break from lifting. I have the rest of this week and next week to go on this month and then I might take a week and just do lighter cardio.

This morning I did CrossFire! This morning I felt a little more motivated and had a little more energy. When I was doing the last move in the Circuit Blast, the rowing wood chop, I dropped my weight. Not sure what happened or how it slipped out of my gloved hands but luckily I missed my foot and my floor did not get damaged.

Carolyn I understand about not blaming Cathe. I don’t blame Cathe for my lack of energy right now or my need to do a recovery week. I am the one that chose to do all these tough metabolic workouts. That stinks about driving bothering your knee. I could see that it might be the angling of the knee or because it is in that position for a while.

This morning I did Get Glutes: lateral lunge 3x8@20, press/windmill 3x8@16, 1-leg dl 3x12@20, db row 3x8@27, ht 2x15 w/20 sec. hold at top last rep. Then I added on DWP. I think I figured out why this GG workout always makes me feel like I have no energy. There are a lot of moves that require substantial balance which I always struggle with so I think it just takes more out of me. I did get through DWP without adding any extra breaks which is a first I think.

Carolyn I hate it when I have to drop to my knees for pushups. It took a long time for me to build up the strength to do pushups on my toes. I bet if you try to do a couple of sets of pushups a few times a week you will build your strength back up. I also find if I don’t do any pushups on a weekly basis I lose my strength.

Lol Carolyn with your half assed w/o's you're right though it's better then nothing! I've been so busy doing stuff this week and my stupid hip I've barely worked out. I'm a little frustrated with my hip it only hurts when I move it a certain way but I don't want to make it worse so I don't really want to do too much.

I have no idea what Homeland is going to do next season, no Brody and if there's no Saul I'm going to be so upset. I can't see Carrie having a baby so I wonder how they are going to play that out. One of my friends doesn't think Brody is dead either but I agree with you Brody is dead! I bet Quinn and Carrie end up together too; I think Quinn really cares for her and it seems like they've been working towards that. I was a little let down by the last episode this season it seemed to me like they made that episode thinking that was going to be the end of the show, but it is coming back. Not sure when probably September again.

Saturday DH and I ran errands in the morning and then we had my family Christmas get together. It lasted from noon until 6 and I was pooped afterwards. Sunday I did Get Glutes: CDL 3x5@105,110,115, 4x3@125,135,155,135, 1x5@125; Underhand BB Rows 3x8@90, walking lunges 3x20@20, 1-arm Arnold 1x8@25, 2x8@23, reverse hypers 3x20@bw, post. Pelvic tilt ht 1x100@bw (so glad this was the last time, I do not like this one), body saw 2x12. Then it was lazy day the rest of the day. This morning was Supercuts.

Carolyn I ate way too much this weekend too. Both Saturday and Sunday was crazy with what I was eating. I agree that I get better glute activation when I lift my leg in the 1-leg dl but I definitely have to go slower to keep steady. Love your makeshift workout.

Amanda Oh I hope your hip starts getting better soon. It is terrible to have to go through the holidays with it hurting. Maybe be busy with other stuff so you can’t work out is the best thing right now for your hip. Hopefully you will be good to go after the new year.

I can't believe I haven't checked in in a week ! It actually feels longer than that . My best friend and I had all last week off , so she came over and we hung out . She just went home last night . I hadn't seen her since last summer and she brought one of her dogs , so we really had a blast and talked so much we got hoarse . I managed to get up in the dark every morning to work out [ my friend thinks it's cool but also thinks I'm nuts ...]
I'm still upset about Homeland ! I think they left the door wide open for Brody to come back [ we never see the body after the fact and it would have been so easy to remove any doubt his death , right ? ] I always thought the show was really about Carrie and Brody at it's core - even when we didn't see him much , those two were the narrative for me , at least . Saul will get right back in there - he can't help himself . Quinn will be there too but I don't get the , ' attraction vibe ' , between him and Carrie , do you ? Maybe he likes HER , but ...
Sorry to go on like this but I watched the last show again [ you're all right - it DID feel like the end of the series ! ] and I don't know if I can get pulled in again without Brody there [ Oh no , I'm starting to sound like Carrie ! ]
I'll get back to all things fitness tomorrow but I just wanted to say hi !
